Deep Morocco Tours took us into the desert on camels, high into the Atlas Mountains, to the center of Fez – the Medina so narrow and twisted that enemies (and ordinary travelers) lose themselves. Deep Morocco took us to a rug coop of 300 women weavers and to a desert coop of 4 tribes, 62 families.

All the guides were Berbers, most born in the desert to Nomad families. In 2000, when the Morocco-Algeria border was set, Nomads turned into the local towns where mayors listened to the families and then gave each member an age and gave all the same birthdate, January 1. Our chief guide Ibrahim drove, telling us about Muslim life, the Jewish presence, and most of all the Berbers who are more and more calling themselves Amazir, a free people, rejecting the Roman name for them, barbarian or Berber.

Our traveling group of five women rode in comfort in a Mercedes for eight days, staying at night in hotels in Casablanca and Marrakesh; in riads operated by families in Fez and small villages; and in two tents in the desert. We were comfortable, except when actually sitting on a camel. We marveled at the architecture: palaces, Mosques, stately homes, shops or souks crowded into the narrow streets, entire villages built into the sides of mountains.

The food was light and satisfying. We always had choices. We were able to purchase wine, but never pork. We bought rugs and perfume, pottery and silver and leather, fossils – all directly from the makers – and we watched them apply their art. We came home laden with gifts and photos

“Said” of Deep Morocco Tours arranged a 5 day tour (for 4 adults), staring from Marrakesh, travelling through the Atlas mountains (stopping at destinations for scenic views and cultural experiences) and heading for the Sahara near Merzouga and the Palmyra camp towards Erg Chebbi. The driver (Omar - Said’s brother) was very knowledgeable and was friendly and made everyone in the group feel comfortable with him. His passion and energy regarding Morocco and especially the Berber culture made our journeys entertaining. All the accommodation during our tours was very good and special mention goes to the Dar Rihana (Dades) where the service and food was of high quality. The other place of special mention was the Palmyra Luxury Camp where Barak, Hemi (Rafiki) and the boys provided top quality service where nothing was too much.
The 5 Days was short and we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely come back to Morocco and will use Deep Morocco Tours again. We would highly recommend Deep Morocco Tours to anyone looking to visit the wonderful country of Morocco.

If you want a truly immersive experience of Morocco, this is the tour to book. I had an unforgettable experience with Deep Morocco Tours. Saïd was friendly and made everyone in the group feel comfortable with him. His charisma and energy made our journeys entertaining. He was always available if you needed guidance or help with anything, which I greatly appreciated. Saïd helped me when I organised a photoshoot in the Sahara desert. Without his help, I would have faced more challenges. He also offered a complimentary ride to the airport for those that remained in Marrakesh.

The tour itself allowed us to visit a variety of places in Morocco, allowing room for flexibility at times (so they may be slight changes in the itinerary). We had plenty of time to independently enjoy the places we visited. We also had plenty of opportunities to shop and eat during our stops. Saïd also found the best guides to give us more insight. A favourite being in Fez where we visited the Terrasse De Tannerie and where I also got to experience my first traditional hammam and massage. Another favourite was passing through the Rissani market and seeing the livestock. The list goes on. Let’s not forget the belly dancing in Marrakesh.

A massive thank you to Lauren as well who is the kindest person ever. Her warmth and kindness were second to none. Lauren and Saïd were a fantastic team in executing this tour. What a success!!! Thank you Deep Morocco Tours. It was sad to say goodbye to new friends !

I was lucky enough to be part of a 10 day tour of Morocco with Deep Morocco Tours and thanks to Saïd and his team it was the most unforgettable experience. Saïd Is warm, friendly and the perfect guide for anyone wanting to experience the heart and soul of this beautiful country. From staying in the most spectacular Riads to an absolutely breathtaking two night stay in the Sahara desert, Saïd showed us the wonderful hospitality and beating heart of Morocco. It’s hard to soak in everything this country has to offer but thanks to Saïd’s extensive knowledge and meticulous planning this trip was everything I hoped for and more. I was delighted to join a ten-day tour around Morocco with Wander to Here and Deep Morocco Tours. From my first to last interactions with Said, he was charming, professional and, importantly, passionate about his home country and all it has to offer. Said’s commentary made the lengthy bus journeys memorable and interesting. He is like a walking history book. His English is also exceptional (and he speaks many other languages too), which meant he understood all of our questions and we never felt ‘lost in translation’. Our driver, Yusuf, was just as wonderful and helpful with our bags and getting us around safely (which is no small task because driving in Morocco is absolutely crazy). Said always checked on each of us, ensuring we were happy (we always were!) and he was full of fantastic suggestions. We constantly got the ‘insider scoop’ – what restaurants to try, which shops were likely to overcharge us, etc. I especially appreciated Said’s commitment to ethical tourism – he would recommend us to purchase from places where he could vouch for the quality and process of the goods, where the products were made by Moroccans. In some instances, he also recommended co-ops that help uplift the lives of their workers, like an argan oil producer that employs widowed women. Said is also deeply committed to job creation through tourism. While our tour was structured to see as much of Morocco as possible, I encourage families and couples considering a trip to Morocco to get in touch with Said. He will craft a bespoke tour around your exact needs and you will leave feeling that you have experienced everything Morocco has to offer. Said’s warmth, hospitality and love for Morocco will live long in my memory. While the country is beautiful, Said as our guide made it all the more special. I recommend Deep Morocco Tours without reservation and it will be the only way I travel Morocco when I (hopefully) return.

We had a fabulous time traveling with Deep Morocco Tours. The communications and pre-trip preparations by Said were comprehensive. He was always quick to respond to questions and requests regarding our trip. Our guide and driver for the 10-day trip, Ibrahim, was a gem, an incredibly nice person. He was so easy to talk with, knowledgeable, friendly, welcomed all our questions, and ensured that everything went smoothly. He was always there when needed but never intrusive.
The itinerary was amazing and immersive, with flexibility to explore and filled with options to pursue favored interests. The pre-arranged local guides (required when touring the cities) were all amazing, enthusiastic and truly joyful people.
Our trip included Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, Dades Gorge, Marrakesh, and Essaouira. It was ambitious but quite comprehensive. While we covered many kilometers over the 10-days, we never felt hurried and didn’t feel like we missed much. The November weather was amazing. Not too hot during the day, not too cold at night. As noted on many websites, bring layers since the temperature shift from day to night is quite broad. Some other tidbits: it was very easy to find bank ATMs for the needed cash (credit cards are often not taken in the old markets); have change available for attendants at the rest rooms; definitely include a trek in the Sahara; learn to say Shukran and Tanemmirt (thank you in Arabic and Berber, respectively) before you go, it never fails to earn a smile.
We were very much impressed by how welcoming the Moroccan people were. You will feel like they are your friends from day 1.

Deep Morocco’s 15 day private tour of Morocco captivated us throughout.
We loved the grandeur of the Moroccan mountain landscape. Each day was carefully planned to give a balance between driving, major cities and sights and other places of interest. We especially enjoyed our stops at smaller towns for a coffee or lunch, to visit a market day, buy local apples or simply gaze in wonder at the spectacular landscape.

A highlight was staying at riads - thanks for choosing these so well, Said. We loved knocking on the solid doors at the end of each day and stepping into a peaceful courtyard leaving the bustling medina behind. Our two days in the Palmyra desert camp were a once in a lifetime experience - beautiful sunsets, the intense orange of the dunes at sunrise and the star-filled sky at 4am. Not to mention the care and humour of our Berber hosts. Shookran, Barak, and all the guys at Palmyra.

Our driver, Ibrahim, was a total professional, an excellent driver with a deep knowledge of Morocco, its people and the Berber culture. We appreciated his insightful companionship throughout our journey and were truly sad when our time with him ended at Marrakech airport.

My sister and I (both in our 60’s) recently completed a personalised 17-day Moroccan tour with ‘Deep Morocco’. When I first booked the tour friends and family counselled us to book with a ‘reputable travel agent’ not a company I had seen online – not listening to their advice was the best thing I have done! Deep Morocco were not only incredibly accommodating as we had to move our travel dates several times, but listened to what we wanted and personalised our tour accordingly. We stayed in lovely riads, had local guides to take us through the medinas and souks, rode camels in the Sahara, ate amazing food and met some wonderful people. Our guide/driver was an incredibly knowledgeable, caring & kind individual and was one of the highlights of our tour. I cannot recommend ‘Deep Morocco’ enough – if you want a real Moroccan experience they are the company to book with.

Said arranged a wonderful 16 day experience around the whole of Morocco for our group of 9, showcasing it’s culture, history, people, landmarks and attractions. It was value for money and the whole trip went smoothly. We were especially impressed with the Riads accommodation he arranged for us. We were apprehensive on the way to the Riads but once inside the apprehension turned into delight especially seeing the courtyards.

I spent a couple of weeks in Morocco in August 2018, and the influence of Deep Morocco Tours added much to the trip, achieving what I couldn't have managed alone. I have had several trips to Morocco over the years, including three months of independent travel back in 1992/1993 as far afield as from the deep south of the Western Sahara to the very north at Melilla. I like to think I know the country well, but Said helped me go deeper than I'd ever managed before. The previous year I'd tried to track down Morocco friendships in Marrakech from 20 years previously, but failed as I traced back addresses using local taxi drivers. Said of Deep Morocco Tours was able to come to the rescue and much to my surprise was able to help find the family I had visited several times in 1992. His help was also invaluable when I needed medical assistance at short notice; he organised travel through the night from the High Atlas to Marrakech - without fuss, and highly efficiently. A couple of days of medical checks and blood tests were made simple, and Said took care of it all, ferrying me about and organising clinic visits and accommodation. He even introduced me to friends, who in turn helped me occupy my time while awaiting results. The time spent trekking in the High Atlas was also fantastic, as were the guides and the organisation, and I will be using Deep Morocco Tours next year when I bring my three children over for a week in the mountains and a week in the Sahara.
Such was the professionalism of Said that we brought him over to visit my school in the UK this year as the guest of honour for our Moroccan Themed day, where he was happy to run different workshops. He was engaging, friendly, good humoured, and a real hit with the secondary school age children both young and old.
