Devonbutterflies Avis 8

Have used a few times with no problems. Most recently Convovulous Hawk larva arrived dead due to royal mail and replacements were sent.

No contact details, 'interesting' customer service. Having been at work when pupae ordered by a colleague arrived, without instructions, I sent a polite email asking for guidance. The response stated if "I know nothing about butterflies, why buy them" (why sell them without care guidance and to anyone who orders them?), I was "like a teacher in a school who knows nothing". I sent a second email, again requesting care advice and was told "insects are not toys, and as for teachers, I will slag them off as they are just woke government puppets" (why sell specifically to schools then?). Avoid at all costs.

Caterpillars arrived promptly and alive. Had to pay premium postage for this but given the state of First Class post there seems little alternative. On first order the number of caterpillars were below expected number but the seller kindly added a generous extra number in the next order for a different species. I have pre-ordered for 2024 after a good experience.

After an initial misunderstanding I can report that Devon Butterflies, have been top notch.
Once I became aware of the weather constraints, I recognised that orders have come to me when available.. All my caterpillars have emerged into beautiful butterflies.

Absolutely no response from seller when I emailed twice asking for advice. To be fair, on the website it says if you want help buy a book or look online - this wasn’t any help. I have bought caterpillars from another company before and they came with full instructions & advice. Nothing at all from Devon Butterflies so I’m afraid I would not recommend them. Not expecting great results. 😢

Ordered 10 peacock butterfly catapillars and received only 4 live catapillars and 6 dead ones. I understand things go wrong sometimes and they've obviously travelled through the post, but the response from Devonbutterflies when I emailed them was simply " well I'm sure they were alive when you got them"??? No apologies or offer to send some live ones out. I wouldn't buy from them again.

Placed an order with next day delivery but the paypal address was incorrect so I immediately contacted the seller (Derek) to advise that they needed to be sent to a different address and provided the transaction number and all relevant information. This was acknowledged by the seller. Two days later the caterpillars had still not arrived despite me paying for express delivery so I sent a polite email asking when I could expect delivery and received the following rude response: "Next week, after all orders before you. You ordered in the name of reads candle co your name and that paypal number means nothing to me
please use your brain." This was totally unnecessary and in my opinion rude. You receive no order acknowledgement when placing an order and therefore no indication of when your order will be sent. If you pay for guaranteed next day you would expect it. I didn't expect to be told to use my brain when I wasn't at fault. Would not recommend buying from this seller when, as I have now discovered, there are other more helpful sellers out there!

Purchased 2 lot's or caterpillars. Sent out in a plastic box in a cardboard box. No fragile written on and most dead when arrived. Got 2 to hatch into butterflies out of around 30 ordered. Very disappointed. Will not buy from again.
