Everyone Active - Flitwick Leisure Centre Avis 32

The Flitwick Centre is brilliant - great facilities and fitness classes, with awesome instructors.

I would avoid a Saturday morning if wanting a swim, the lanes are overcrowded even though it’s a booking system, which you think would eliminate that problem. You should only have a maximum of four people lane.
The water is filthy, cloudy, bits on the bottom, slightly salty? That people sweat.
Some person thought it was a great idea to put the shoe rack right in front of the hairdryers so you can’t get to the counter, you have to lean over the shoe racks, trying to dry your hair as people are trying to get their shoes from underneath you…
I used to be a member of the gym, and left because that was crap a few years ago… Unfortunately things haven’t changed /improved

Range of classes and facilities at FLC are great; annual membership fee is good value if you go at least twice a week. EA has smartened up the venue - so looking really smart and welcoming.

Always made to feel welcome and enjoyable pilates classes.

I’ve been a member of this centre for many years. Same old: dirty, smelly changing rooms. The turnstiles are unpredictable if they work or not. Staff are helpful on reception but there is no feedback available regarding surveys despite raising this with manager and being told this was in Facebook ( untrue). Any complaints raised are ignored is the consensus.
Ive not renewed my membership after a spell of bullying from a certain class instructor .

Gym is turning in to a school playground kids chatting, sitting on the machines watching videos more like a meet up area its a shame the new equipment is great you just can't get on it

I started a membership in May, cancelled it for June and then restarted it on the 1st of July. On arriving at the gym on the 1st of July, I was not allowed to enter as I had 'an outstanding payment' for June.

When I cancelled my membership at the end of May, I had to submit an enquiry online, had no response for 10 days, so I went in person (more time out my day) and the receptionist had to change it for me.

I have now paid for a month's membership that I can not use, and the reception was not able to give me a refund or let me in and the system thinks I didn't cancel my membership in June.

I'm now £38.99 and a lot of time out of pocket without access to a gym.

Shocking service and technical support to manage memberships.

Patrons are messy, staff don’t enforce any policies. People don't return their weights after use, so there are dumbbells and plates scattered all over the place or left loaded on machines. This includes mature, fit, gym-goers who you would assume would have experienced basic gym etiquette before. It's like dumping rubbish on the street.

No consequences for this behaviour.

Good swimming pool. Plenty of lockers and showers. Easy to book sessions on app

Lovely staff, fun classes and a nice atmosphere as well as great facilities..

I like Flitwick Leisure Centre. The facilities really meet my needs without me having to pay for activities I don't use. I think it is very good value for money, the staff are always friendly, the equipment in the gym is well maintained and there is plenty of parking. There is also a small cafe where I meet up with others.

Good location. Great Staff. Great value for money.

I first joined Flitwick Leisure Centre in 2008 and remained a member until August of this year after suffering a year of Everyone Active's management of the centre.
When the Centre moved to a new building in 2016 one of the advantages trumpeted was that anyone could turn up to swim at any time; there would always be a public space in the pool. This remained the case (to the previous company's credit) until Everyone Active took over. This has now been eroded and there are large parts of the day when no public swimming is possible. Public swimming times have now been further reduced and this was only announced two days before the change started in a facebook post where commenting was not allowed. The actions of a company who don't care about their customers and are scared of feedback.
Additionally, swimmers who do not cancel their booking within 4 hours of a session starting are fined £4. So swimmers who book a 6am swim and wake up feeling unwell are effectively being encouraged to swim anyway to avoid a charge. There have been instances of members having a charge appear on their account for a session they never booked.
In summary, it is very sad that Everyone Active have taken a community leisure centre and turned it into a corporate blob with no care at all for the customers.

As a pensioner it is a very useful venue to go to, as it would be very easy to stay at home and do no exercise at all, so carry on with good work, one criticism I would have you have to give 4 hour notice of non attendance, this seems unreasonable if you have an early class, and wake up not feeling well, so you are fined for non attendance

The technology on the gate doesn’t work, staff unhelpful. Pool too cold and changing rooms dirty. This place takes the joy out of swimming.

My son has been having swimming lessons here and to say the instructor is disinterested and appears to not enjoy working with children is an understatement. The instructor looks bored and unenthusiastic week after week. He will often complain on the side of the pool about a child not listening even when he isn’t given much direction and the child is trying their hardest. He turns to parents watching in his words to have “a rant” about his pupils, rolls his eyes whilst they are swimming, and I could go on. Incredibly unprofessional. He looks like he would rather be anywhere else. My son has sadly lost his enthusiasm for swimming since moving into the class (he loved his lessons before this) as he getting any positive feedback and little teaching. I am making a complaint and will try a different instructor but looking at others there I am not hopeful as a few just don’t appear to have any interest either and would rather chat to one another. Shame as it’s so close but will look elsewhere so he doesn’t lose the enjoyment of swimming.

My kids have swimming lessons at our local leisure centre. Since Everyone Active took over the site (Flitwick) classes sizes seem to have nearly doubled. So now the kids have much less swimming time and there’s barely space for them to hold on to the pool edges as they wait. Prices up too by a lot.

Most of the teachers are good and nice, but some struggle to communicate well with kids and just shout.

The facilities at Flitwick are good and easy to access. The staff are friendly and helpful. Aqua Zumba and Aquatone sessions are both excellent but desperately oversubscribed meaning it can be difficult to get a place.

I take my baby swimming here to get him used to the water. The changing facilities are excellent and have extra large cubicles with baby changing tables and a large seated bench. The training pools are a little colder than I would like for my baby - 29 degrees but he'll get used to it!
