I was a big fan until they changed their charges...
I was a big fan until they got greedy and started charging for voicemail to numbers you have had set up for years. I've stopped using their service and opened a second number with sipgate who don't charge for receive and email you voicemail. A quick Google will reveal many companies that are cheaper and send you less email (and I never used their affiliate marketing scheme either despite receiving many emails about it)
Update: The MD of the company has been in touch personally (which I respect) and offered a goodwill credit to give the service another go. I'll come back when this credit runs out and let you know if it represents value for money :) I've updated the review & rating based on this contact.

We're disappointed to hear you're no longer a big fan. Unfortunately changes in inbound payments from BT means that most other operators are unlikely to continue to offer Free Voicemail, as a loss-leader for local 01 and 02 numbers.
Of course our Voicemail service is still free of charge on our 084, 087 and 070 number ranges. You can also get Free Voicemail for local, 0800 and 03 number ranges Voicemail by taking out a Monthly Plan. Plans cover all the numbers in an account and therefore offer great value starting from just £5 per month.
Another tip is to use our Rewards scheme ("affiliate marketing") to pay for your Voicemails on your local numbers. For more information see: https://www.flextel.com/rewards/Refer/
You could also use any Rewards earned on calls to 084 and 087 numbers. We call this "Offsetting", which can be configured to work automatically. For more information see: https://www.flextel.com/rewards/Offsetting/

Thanks very much for your review. You may remember, in 1992/3 we pioneered Personal Numbers and Flexible Telecoms with a rather slow very simple fax based service. Then along came the World Wide Web. Now we have three mobile apps, as well as a fast web interface, delivering instant flexible call control along over 20 powerful call management features. It's been quite a journey from the 20th to the 21st century.

Used this brilliant service when I moved house to keep my home number. So easy to port to Flextel, then I redirected my calls to my mobile & voicemail to email. People I forgot about called me, so I told them my new contact details. I use the Flextel home number for everything now, as it's got an unlimited free call blocker, so I can easy stop those annoying PPI calls! Grrr!

Flextel - Standout pure play telecom provider in a cluttered marketplace
I have used Flextel since 1996, starting out with their 070 Personal Numbers.
Flextel have widened their portfolio over the years to include products and services in the following ranges:
* Geographic 01/02 - All UK towns and cities
* UK Wide 03 and 0300 'charity' numbers
* 080x toll free
* 084x calling party pays (CPP)
* 0871/2/3 Premium Rate
From the early days of rerouting by telephone, rerouting is now available via web, smartphone app, SMS and even legacy TUI.
Products and Services now include mutli-party audio conferencing, advanced call routing features including time-of-day, anonymous call filter, voice to email, legacy fax to email, call blasting, call queuing and call recording.
The SIP Trunks that Flextel offer (Flexsip) are, from personal experience, amongst the most reliable in the industry.
Flextel support SIP/2.0 - This means that their SIP Trunks can be connected directly to a Smartphone app such as Bria, as a logical extension, or terminated as a logical SIP endpoint on an IPBX or IPPBX.
The calling costs for SIP Trunks aren't the cheapest in the industry. However, Flextel focuses on quality over price, as the telecoms market is already cluttered with 'bucket minute' carriers.
Because Flextel don't compress their voice calls, you get G711u and G711a codec quality, as opposed to the voice (quality) compression that alot of the cheaper providers give, with the G729a codec.
The overall marker that sets Flextel apart from the competition is their attention to detail and the *quality* of their products and services. This is why I still use them after 20 years. Flextel have seen off alot of their competition and I expect they will be around for alot time yet.

Terrible support!!
Been with them for 3 years.In the last months the SIP trunks keep dropping for now reason and for few hours during business time.They do not have telephone support!!All recorded massage. Looking for alternative provider to transfer the SIP's what a joke they are!!Stay away!!

Sorry you have had problems recently. Our customer support line is on 0370 321 1000. This uses our build-in queuing system and you will be answered by the next available customer support agent. Alternatively you can report the fault via our support ticketing system at https://www.flextel.com/#contact
Please try and use the ticketing system and specify the exact nature of your fault and we will investigate. We have no other fault reports at this time.
20 Years of Good Service
It's virtually an online phone line service for non geographic numbers like 0800, 0870, 0330 etc for businesses. You can also buy from £2, 'Local' ie 01XXX or 02XXX numbers to put through to your computer for free or to a mobile or landline for 4p per minute. A control panel to divert the numbers anytime. No line rental.
Fantastic for taxi firms to take local calls in their taxi on the mobile for 4p per minute. Email log of the calls to and 1p extra to record the call and email that recording to you within minutes,
Ideal for all sorts of businesses. I have used them for virtually 20 years and they have sorted everything out I've needed to keep my business going.
