I put items on Gumtree, for free, as I am cleaning out my shed, would rather try that than throw, I had another item and reminded the person that was collecting, of the bowls did they also want.

Whatever you do, don't change your phone number or you'll never access your account again. And customer service is poor.
I tried to log into my account. It wanted to send me a security SMS code to my phone. I have since changed phone numbers and they did not offer any other MFA options. I contacted them via their support page. They came back with a list of questions that were impossible to answer. These were their questions:
- When was your account registered?
- What is the name listed on the account profile?
- What is the title of the last ad you posted, and when was it posted?
- What was the name of the last person you messaged via Gumtree Messenger, and which ad was it related to?
- What is the suburb/post code saved to your profile?
I have not posted an ad for a year and a half. Other than name and post code, who in the world would be able to provide that level of detail from memory? I answered as best I could, but after I replied, pure silence from Gumtree. Thus their customer service is really poor.
It drives me nuts these companies that only offer security codes via SMS. with no back up method to access acount. People change their number!! I am sure the I am not the only one that has.

I have had to check not just my email lately, but also my Gumtree message site. I have submitted my complaint & they have contacted me to let me know that it's being looked into. So whilst my buyer -Elva - deserved a 5 start rating, whatever is going on with the site has cost me customers & caused a lot more contacting. Not just me to the potential buyer, but also from them to me. I know as they've told me what they've tried to send that doesn't go through.
Up to the last month, I would have given a 4 stars rating, but until this issue is resolved I reckon a 2 start rating is generous due to all of our time wasted.

Convenient local trading
Gumtree is very covenient website for local trading. Be aware there are scams coming up while using online paying tools. Keep the deal as simple as possible such as cash only.
