I had a very poor experience
I had a very poor experience. I enquired about the composite battens listed on their website at £5 each. I called ahead and was told that there was no need to order online, and that I could come collect them any time and pay on collection.
I came to collect this morning, and was shown the battens, they were stored outside, covered in muck, and many were bent out of shape/deformed due to overheating.
I asked if they could provide me with ones that were not bent and were clean, and was told I would need to wait a few hours until they had time to look at it.
I ended up spending 1 hour, on my own, selecting the ones that weren't bent, carrying them to the pressure washer, cleaning them myself, and then loaded the car.
Having spent 1 hour cleaning their stock so that it was in a sellable condition, I asked for a discount to reflect my experience, and was told this wouldn't be possible.
Really poor all round.
UPDATE: I'm shocked by their response, instead of apologising, they are doubling down. In response to their reply: "The composite battens you collected were not advertised on our website, but rather listed on Facebook Marketplace."
This is a LIE - they listed these at £5 each on their website (I do not even have Facebook). I HAVE SCREENSHOTS AS EVIDENCE (I've posted this in my Google Review - as I can't do this here).
There was no mention of the condition being in any way less than as-new on their website.
And there was no greater discount provided. I was charged £5 per item, as per their website listing, despite needing to spend 1 hour cleaning and moving the battens around their site.
Really poor. Why can't they just apologise and try and put it right ?

We’d like to clarify a few important points for accuracy. The composite battens you collected were listed on Facebook Marketplace. The listing clearly stated that these were end-of-line clearance items, with multiple photos and a full description showing their condition—including the fact they were stored outside and may need cleaning or minor reshaping before use. This is also reflected in the heavily discounted price.
When you arrived without calling ahead, we explained that due to being two staff members down, we couldn’t prepare the battens immediately. We offered to set them aside and clean them for you if you were happy to return later. Instead, you kindly asked if you could use our jet wash to clean them yourself as you were in a rush, and we were happy to accommodate that.
At no point during your visit did you express any dissatisfaction. In fact, you handpicked the battens you wanted, cleaned them voluntarily using our equipment, and then we gave you an even greater discount—charging just one-third of the original listing price.
We always try to go the extra mile for our customers, even in challenging circumstances, so we were surprised to see this review after what seemed like a positive interaction. We appreciate that some people may be hard to please, but we encourage customers to raise concerns directly so we can put things right.
