Called service today
Called today. Needed paperwork from a fourteen year old roof for the goofy insurance AI defect. I had the paperwork in 30 sec. D Carter a service rep was the most professional patient human I've encountered in a long time. Oh yes the roof, excellent no problems a little expensive. Getting ready for a roof on my primary residence and will call Hansons again. No good insured roofers in my town. They are all ripoffs. What do you think pays that salesman's salary. He ain't doing no work. But Hansen will be there tomorrow long after Mr fly by night has left the building.

Defective Siding
My wife and I ordered siding for my garage and house, roofing for my garage and gutters for the house in February. They get a 1 because they did get the roofing and gutters completed, though for gutters they had to come out to correct installation issues but at least they were responsive in quickly fixing them. However, they are totally failing on the siding which was the most expensive part of the job and are showing zero urgency in getting the job completed. After numerous installation delays since the siding was delivered to our house, they started installing the siding on July 10 and right out of the gate the installer lead found defective siding and mismatched colored pieces but still installed some of them along with the good siding and took the rest of the defective pieces away. After they left there is still one third of my house with no siding. Also at that time we were told by the installer lead that they didn't make the color anymore and had to search for it in warehouses which we later found out was not true as the color is still in production. In early August additional siding was delivered but my wife and I were concerned the siding didn't match what was on the house and also found they hadn't set an installation date. We emailed the company with our concerns and they sent the GM of the area out and during the visit said he had to get the manufacturer's rep out to look at the problems he admitted there were with the siding. He didn't get the manufacturer's rep to our house until 9/10 which was at least two weeks after the GM came out. The reps saw the problems and we were told someone would come out to remove some of the siding for them to be sent to the manufacturer for analysis. Hearing nothing and no siding being removed, on 9/23 I asked for an update and didn't receive an answer. On 9/25 we received an email saying our order is estimated to arrive in 6-8 weeks. I thought that meant they didn't need the panels and were getting new product. But no, as out of the blue the GM came out today (10/2) and had someone remove a couple pieces of siding and we were told the manufacturer's rep has to come pick them up. He also said he had no idea why we would get such an email with an estimated arrival date. This is just ridiculous that zero urgency has been placed on getting the job completed since the problem was found, I'm getting little communication, and either the GM has been uniformed of a decision made without the samples or there is internal miscommunication within the company on rectifying this issue. Considering it took weeks to get the manufacturer's rep to look at the siding, I have zero confidence they will be out to pick up the pieces and a decision will be made any time soon on are they going to order all new siding to ensure there are no defective and mismatched pieces or order enough siding to replace the defective and mismatched pieces to completing the siding. The only reason I went with Hansons was because a few years ago they installed a new roof on my house and we had zero problems. Now I regret I went back to them.

If there were a rating below 1 they deserve it. After being sold on their quality, customer service and guarantee, we decided to have all our windows replaced. Since then, we have never heard from our sales person and have had on going issues with a couple windows that needed to be replaced. They drag their feet and offer one excuse after another for the product and service. My wife and I have taken vacation days to be home when they schedule a time to replace one window. On three occasions they have called the morning of install to cancel. First was they ordered the wrong window, second was a crew issue, third and most recent, the morning of install is the replacement window is cracked! We made initial contact with them to have 1 window replaced in early May and still have not had the work completed. Beware…. They will tell you what you want to hear but once the order is received and paperwork signed, they don’t care about what they sold you on or customer satisfaction or time schedule, you are on their schedule after that. Now it will be another month to get one replacement window. Once the window is received it’s typically been another 2 to 3 weeks to have a crew scheduled for install. Over 6 months for 1 window…. Absolutely absurd!

I signed a contract with Hansons for a new roof and windows. From the start it was a Debacle. They damaged my siding while taking the old roof off. Then they told me that my roof needed a "redecking". At an additional cost of 5,000.00. The contract I signed for the roof stated they would remove and replace the wood as needed, not a redecking. Then the roof leaked and damaged my kitchen cabinets. All I have gotten from their Saginaw Michigan Manager "Mack" is threats and attempts at intimidation. Not too mention when I finally receive the contracts I originally signed the wording had changed to redecking and not remove and replace the wood. They have made me feel like they are doing me a favor by taking my business. Stay away.

I want to thank everyone who left a review! Getting quotes to put a new roof on our house and after reading these reviews, Hanson is not on our list. I need to know that the company will show up when they say and if there are any issues, fix them, based on the reviews. they are not the company for me. The only reason I even looked into them, is because I was seeing advertisements on my TV. Again, thank you to the people who have posted and steered me away from a headache!
#Delays #Lies #BadCommunication
Probably the worst home improvement experience I have had. #Delays #Lies #BadCommunication
I contacted this company because I was in need of new gutters and a roof. The estimate went generally well. One of my important questions was "What is the expected time for installation?" and my salesperson told me "we're looking at 6 to 8 weeks." I asked how many sheets of plywood were included in the estimate and was told "we don't do that; as long as it isn't the whole roof, we just take care of it." Also, the salesman said they would have no problem coordinating with my solar panel company to have those taken down while the new roof went up. None of these responses turned out to be accurate.
After the deposit was paid, the company basically went no-communication. I followed up many times over both email and phone as the weeks passed by. I called many times; I received multiple "we'll have someone call you back by the end of the day" responses, but I was never called back. I got a message on a Monday, 12 weeks in, that my appointment was scheduled THAT WEEK. I had to call back to find out when the install was scheduled. They literally didn't want to tell me the day or time, but finally relented when I explained about the solar panels. I was scheduled for Thursday morning. After further pressing, they gave me contact information for the foreman of the roofing crew. I was never able to get in contact with this foreman. My solar company was never able to get in contact with this foreman. The customer support person explained that the supplies and dumpster would be dropped off the day before. At about 4:30pm the day before installation (Wednesday) I contacted support again because no dumpster had been delivered, and was informed that my install had been pushed back a day (to Friday) and they just didn't inform me.
Thursday morning I woke up to a roofing crew at my door (what happened to Friday?). The crew got to work and after all of my shingles were off, we realized that there were 2 problems: First, they didn't have some of the supplies, and second, the delivered shingles were not the color I ordered. When we realized this, I emailed my salesperson that there was a problem, and surprisingly, he called me back. I explained the situation and how concerned I was. The crew broke for lunch, and afterwards the missing supplies were delivered. I decided to let them put up the delivered shingles (what else was I supposed to do? My roof had been removed and rain was on the way). The Operational manager for the company contacted me and we talked through the current state of things. He told me that he would be contacting the regional manager to encourage him to do something to make things right given the situation.
Several days later, another crew came out for my gutters. As they were wrapping up, I was called by my "project manager" for payment. At no time had I been informed she existed or I was supposed to be contacting her for things. She had no idea about the delays, missing supplies, wrong colored shingles, etc. She asked me to explain, and she decided to take $200 off my bill "for my troubles". She took my payment over the phone. When I compared my emailed receipt with my estimate and realized it was too high by a few hundred dollars, I emailed my salesperson and he said the extra cost was for plywood followed by "Having said that- [Manager] will be taking care of that charge and much more for you due to the issues that have been had".
The salesperson said that the manager would contact me a couple days later. He did not contact me. I got a call from some other manager a different day to talk about the clusterf*ck that was my experience. He apologized profusely and said they were going to do something "to make this right".
To this day, I have yet to be contacted by the regional manager or anyone to make things right.

DON’T USE HANSONS!
Worst customer service ever. Needed siding replaced after initial installation which took over a year and then they didn't have enough material. Part of house has been siding free for over 2 weeks and nobody wants to explain why. 0 stars for knowledge. I’ll keep adding until my house is done. Meanwhile it’s pouring in Norwalk again…Downspout flapping in the wind because it wasn’t reattached with satellite wires everywhere. And still no help! 👏
And FINALLY they say they will finish today on August 12th but we’ll see! No accountability at all!
Downspout broke off in the last storm.
And go figure. Supposed to be here between 12:00-2:00 and not a person in sight at 2:30.
TRASH COMPANY!

NEVER call 1-800-HANSONS
Hansons installed a shower in April causing two ceiling leaks in the process. The shower looks nothing like I expected and the bumpers on shower doors were broken on installation. The fitter tried to get away with it but we said we wanted new ones and he called Hansons who said we’d get new bumpers asap. It’s now July. We still have broken bumpers. Every time we use the shower something else falls off. They do not answer the phone for service calls. I’ve reported them to BBB. DO NOT do business with Hansons.

1-800-Hansons UPDATE AT BOTTOM Hansons responds & comes thru!
NOTE: SEE POSITIVE UPDATE AT BOTTOM!
So I hired 1-800-Hansons to do trim on my house to cover all exposed wood. I wasn’t aware that the company is no longer owned by Brian Elias. He sold this company to private equity a few years back. As you will see I don’t think the new owners are as interested in having satisfied customers. Anyway approximately 2 years ago a crew showed up to do the work and I could tell almost immediately that they didn’t know what they were doing and that the job wasn’t looking good. The trim was really wavy. So halfway thru the job we had Hansons out to look and they agreed. So they had the first crew remove everything and sent another crew out. We were very happy they agreed to do this because the trim was looking awful! Next they sent a much more experienced and professional crew and we really liked them. They seemed to do great work. Aesthetically it looked very professional. However approximately 7-8 months later some trim fell off the house. One of reasons I had chosen Hansons was because the salesman told me the warranty was the best in the business…and as with any work I understand there can be nails that are missed or that come out for whatever reason. So i called for repairs and initially they told me it would cost $99 to come and inspect it. After some arguing about the fee it seemed to me they agreed to waive it and come out anyway. The workers did in fact come out and repaired everything and we were happy. But just last week (about a year after the first incident with trim falling off)
more pieces of trim have fallen off the house….keep in mind we didn’t have a wind storm or anything…just pieces of trim falling off the house. So I called to get it repaired again and they told me they can’t schedule it because i never paid the $99 from the situation that occurred shortly after install. Keep in mind my salesman assured me over and over that the warranty included everything…parts and service with no extra charges. I know it’s “only $99” but it’s the principle of the matter. I was assured this warranty covered everything. Not to mention it’s incredibly disappointing in roughly 2 years time to have two situations where trim just falls off the house. This last time we were very lucky the trim didn’t hit my wife who was turning on the hose when a big section of trim fell down right next to her landing maybe 3 feet away. Now it wouldn’t have been like bricks falling on her head because trim is lightweight. But it absolutely could have cut her as it has sharp edges…so naturally it was kind of scary for us. The most disappointing part is our family has hired 800 Hansons for various jobs over the years. We even used them on our cottage up north to do all the siding and trim. Up until now hadn’t had any issues. The crew we had out seemed good too. We were happy with the work initially. But to try to pry an extra $99 out of us when clearly this is covered by the warranty is exceedingly disappointing. The customer service reps seem to have almost zero interest in making you happy. They just kept repeating that we owe them $99. I don’t recall ever getting a bill for this either and to be honest I view this as a money grab. I also find it shocking in such a competitive business to risk poor feedback over an amount that certainly won’t make or break 1-800-Hansons. I also feel with everything we’ve went thru with this job from first having a poor crew who installed 1/2 the job…then had to take it all down….to having the second crew and now having issues with falling trim every summer since we got the work done….the last thing an honest company would be doing is a $99 money grab. Live and learn.
UPDATE: Very pleased to report Hansons is coming out to do the minor repair and says I won’t be charged. It seems the issue was more with the call center who maybe wasn’t authorized to waive a charge. Anyway i talked to one of their managers Jason who said i wouldn’t be charged and said I would be getting a call from the service manager….which indeed I did just minutes after talking with Jason. Both Jason and Amanda were true professionals and very helpful. Hey as i said above Ive used 1800 Hansons several times over the years and had never had anything but a very positive experience. Certainly the repeat business alone confirms Ive always been satisfied. So I’m willing to say this was a one-off that appears to be headed for a good resolution. Therefore I am changing my rating from above. I do understand that any home improvement project can have issues here and there. That’s to be expected….all you can ask for is that when things come up will the company step up and stand behind their work and live up to their guarantee without trying to ding you for extra $$. I’m relieved to say 1-800-Hansons is still living up to their good reputation even if it took an extra minute to get there.

Avoid Hansons
Terrible company. They will do everything they can to drag out the 3 day period and then strong arm and insult you over the phone, Bruce I'm talking about you. They also sent the crew to my house after I gave them plenty of notice not too but they said they couldn't turn them around and then charged me an extra $500 for sending the crew to my house anyway. After all of that they then threatened to put a lien on my property even though no work was done yet. Trash company full of liars and conmen, avoid this company and go with a company with actual good customer service and integrity.

I wanted siding and gutter replacement on a 775 square foot home in Iowa that I purchased for $64,000 17 years ago. After sitting through 45 minutes of a zoom call, I finally got my estimate from them. They wanted almost $40,000. After negotiations, the price went down to $32,000. That's half of the value of my home, for siding and gutters. After three days, I backed out of this agreement. My gosh, I only wanted an estimate and had to endure a one hour zoom call to get it. It was all just a high pressure sell attempt. I would recommend you to run away from these people.

I put money down on an order
I put money down on an order, with a 3 day guaranteed cancellation period. I had to cancel my order and did so on day 2. They cashed my check anyway, I've called and they assured me I would have my money sent back to me. Well it's been 3 weeks and no money back yet. Now I have to go file a claim at small claims court. This company is awful, deceitful and the workers are very unprofessional. I'm sorry I ever dealt with them in the past. My first install was suppose to take 3 days and it end up taking 3 weeks for 11 windows. They sent 2 guys who said that they should have never sent them out on this big of a job, their own workers told me that they were not qualified to do this work. So buyer beware and go with a different company
And here we go again
And here we go again. Another screw up with Hanson's. This company is so backwards it's unbelievable. After all the problems and 3 different deliveries we had trying to get our windows installed. Now we need service, there is air leaking around the windows. Got a call from them on a Tuesday wanting to set up service. Told me they could come out that friday and I agreed. That I would get a call on thursday with a time frame. Never heard anything so about 3:30 I called them and there's not even a service scheduled for us. Imagine that. This is one backwards company.

Bought our first home in 2016 off an elderly couple. Didn't know anything about a roof warranty till just recently. We contacted the elderly couple they said Hanson installed it. Now that the roof is leaking everywhere they don't want to honor their warranty because the elderly couple never transferred it within a year to new homeowners. That's something that should be done automatically not called in. Now they don't want to honor their lifetime warranty is mind blowing. I'll be posting pictures of their work on fb to let everyone know not to go through them. Thanks Hansons for the upsetting install of a roof that leaks and bows everywhere.
AWFUL
AWFUL. That’s Hansons. If I could rate Hansons zero, I would. Do NOT sign a contract with them for anything — they’re corrupt — liars, horrible workmanship, and the worst customer service — from the top down. They contract lowest bidders for roofing. I had a fine roof, and they installed inappropriate, damaged materials. They caused leaks. They attempted to fix it ten times. They promised to repair the damage but quit communicating. They cost twice as much as the average. And they will force you to arbitration, so unless you’re wealthy, it’s cost-prohibitive. Don’t sign the contract. Don’t hire Hansons. Don Thompson was the salesman, and he lied to me and my wife. His boss, Scott Lamacchia, a regional sales manager, lied to us as well. At a certain point, we deferred the warranty because of their corruption and ineptitude. We had multiple roofers and inspectors on site after that, and their disgust was nearly as bad as ours. They even failed the county inspection, and that’s damn near impossible to do. It’s one of many pieces of evidence of how terrible they are. Do yourself and your family a favor: Stay away from Hansons. Hire a local, reputable company. Hansons cannot be trusted under any circumstance.

GREAT COMPANY
GREAT COMPANY! I had a seal break on windows I had installed 9.5 years ago, I called and they told me to send in some pictures to the service dept. They called me the next day and told me it would be covered 100% and it would take 6-8 weeks before they could be out. GREAT! They came out in 5 weeks with a new window and replace it at no charge per contract. I have always had excellent service from hansons! The young man (Jason) that came out to do the work was efficient and extremely polite! Great company.
Since Hanson installed my windows
Since Hanson installed my windows, they’ve been back three times. My bedroom windows still leaks. It won’t lock. I have to put tape on it. I have an extra little heater in my bedroom because it’s so cold because it’s winter time here I wish they would just change the whole window out they say it’s just a slide, but it’s not the screens ready to fall out and everything.

If I could give them 0 starts I would.
We had our roof and gutters done by them. They rescheduled BOTH jobs multiple times. The contractors left nails ALL over my yard we are still finding 2 years later- this is after they had come back to clean up their mess. My gutters had to be 'fixed' 3 separate times, and turns out were installed ALL incorrectly. They sent a completely new contractor out to completely re-do all of it, and ordered the wrong color. I was so ready to just have them done with this, that it was close enough. We are now having chimney work done. We had to call them OVER 20 times because their schedulers and office people are completely incompetent, to get them to understand what needed to be done. We could not go with another roofer as it would void our roof warranty. The foundation company has been waiting for THREE HOURS, on the contractor because he went to the wrong house first. They have passed their window arrival time by 3 hours. This is seriously the worst company I have EVER had to deal with, and I talk to insurance companies for a living. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. For literally ANY work.
Lousy lousy lousy lousy
Lousy lousy lousy lousy, don’t use them they stink. They did a horrible job on my roofing project nails sticking out through my ceiling. Lousy customer service don’t use them warning!!!!
