Harrisons - Doncaster Armthorpe

We've only been registered with Harrisons for just over two weeks, but we've been so impressed with the care we've received already.

Our girl had been through three courses of antibiotics at our previous vets without ever getting a diagnosis. After just one appointment with Eoin, we finally had an answer, the correct medication was prescribed, all of our worries were put at ease and within three days she was already showing signs of improvement.

We've since had two further appointments with Ximo, and the level of knowledge, compassion and reassurance we've received has been outstanding. I'm a chronic overthinker and always have a million questions, but both Eoin and Ximo took the time to explain everything thoroughly, answer every concern and make sure we felt confident about our girl's care. We never felt rushed, and it was clear they genuinely cared about both our dog and us.

Our dog can be nervous in new environments and around unfamiliar people, so we really appreciate how fear-free the practice is. The individual waiting booths, calming music and pre-appointment Fear Free questionnaire all help create a much more relaxed experience. They even offer options like waiting in your car until the vet is ready, so you can go straight into the consultation room if your dog is anxious or reactive. It's obvious that every aspect of the practice has been designed with your pet's wellbeing in mind—even down to offering their favourite flavour treats.

A special mention also to Chloe on reception, who has been so friendly, welcoming and kind during every visit. She really sets the tone for the practice and gives such a wonderful first impression.

Even before we registered, I phoned with lots of questions about surgeries, out-of-hours care and their wellness plan. The member of staff I spoke to was incredibly informative, professional and friendly, giving me first-class service despite us not even being clients at the time. That conversation played a big part in our decision to register.

The whole team genuinely cares about their patients and you can tell they truly enjoy what they do. Finding a vet you completely trust is invaluable, and we're so grateful we made the move to Harrisons. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional veterinary care.

They are not an independent family vets lol, they are just the same as any large business. Also you get what you pay for, they don't have the best receptionists, they seem to think they know everything even when they are wrong. It's a circus to be fair.

Good vet bad drug pricing

This is a review solely on drug pricing… my experience of their vets and treatment is generally very good. However… my dog has itchy ears and paws and along with the usual novel protein diets and herbal additives needs occasional steroid spray to help him through. The on-line price of the treatment was £23 and £22 respectively, Harrison’s price was £90 and £48 respectively ‘plus’ £20 per prescription. Whilst I understand that they are not a pharmacy… their prices beggar belief. I also checked the price of a recent antibiotic and anti inflammatory treatment - the price of the antibiotics were £50 vs around £10 (plus £20 prescription charge). I am writing this because their prices are geared toward insurance payment, when a dog has exclusions for past issues the price is not justifiable.

I highly recommend Harrison family vets at Longton Iam overwhelmed by their kind and caring approach. I took my dashhound there for her yearly booster because she would growl and snack at my local vets, this didn't happen at Harrisons the vet made her feel so welcome not one growl or snack came out of her she was enjoying the treats he gave her with kindness. Also I'd like to mention there prices are very reasonable compared to my other vets . I've since took her there to be neutered with no problems whatsoever. Thank you Harrisons 😊

Harrison’s - Kingswinford branch

We had our dogs and our cat registered with this practice for a couple of years. During that time, it became increasingly clear that the practice appears to have taken on more clients than it can reasonably manage, with insufficient staff including vets to meet demand.

On numerous occasions, we were left waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes to an hour, and more than once over 1 hour 30 minutes past our appointment time. While occasional delays are understandable, this was a consistent issue.

We sadly lost our cat in September 2025. In the months leading up to this, I raised multiple concerns about her health during appointments, but I felt these concerns were not properly addressed. At one point, when I asked whether her asthma symptoms could be linked to other underlying issues, I was told by a vet, “I don’t really know.” At no stage were blood tests or further investigations suggested, despite my concerns about her age and declining condition.

When her symptoms worsened rapidly, we were told there would be a three-week wait for an appointment. We therefore took her to another veterinary practice, where she was diagnosed with kidney, heart and liver failure. As you can imagine, this was devastating news.

We contacted the practice the following day to remind them that she was registered there and that they had a duty of care. We were then offered a same-day appointment for an abdominal scan, which came at considerable cost. The timing made it difficult not to question whether financial factors were influencing decisions.

During that appointment, I asked why further testing had never previously been suggested when I had repeatedly raised concerns. I was met with the response: “Did you ask?” As a pet owner & not a qualified vet.. I rely on professional guidance. It is not realistic to expect clients to know which specific tests to request for symptoms that may be linked to kidney, liver, or heart failure.

I fully accept that our cat was elderly, and we were not expecting miracles. However, this experience along with other similar issues we encountered with our other pets ultimately led us to leave the practice. We were patient and understanding for a long time, but there comes a point where trust is lost. Our pets are family.

I also formally raised complaints, which have gone unanswered something I note appears to be a common theme in other reviews.
I am sorry but I would not recommend.

Thank you so much for taking care of…

Thank you so much for taking care of our dogs. We have had to do the difficult thing twice now and both times you've been so kind and sweet and caring to us and our pooches. Nothing is too much. This place is an amazing place, we're so glad we found you. There is quite obviously a caring nature trained from the top down amd its clear to see on every visit.

I took my two puppies for vaccination…

I took my two puppies for vaccination and microchip at Didsbury clinic, at the end I was charged and I paid. A day after I receive a WhatsApp message saying that I was undercharged and had a sum of £71 to pay. I requested an invoice explaining what I was charged for and I was shocked when I realised they charged me £17 for each puppy for a single deworm and flea tablet. I said that I didn't agree with the price and wanted to return the flea treatment. The recepcionist said those tablets couldn't be returned as they could been tampered. I explained that the tablets was still in its involucrum and box but still they didn't accept a return. I don't think this is allowed, any product that stills intact should be deemed for returned , where's my consumers rights anywhere. And on the top of this she them hung up on my me without even say bye.

Terrible experience

Having previously trusted Rosie (of the Kingswinford branch), she operated on our dog. His previously perfect eye is now left permanently cloudy due to a corneal ulcer they caused during the operation (it was not his eye ball being operated on so this should not have happened). His stitches also came undone resulting in an emergency operation elsewhere. Rosie has completely ignored our formal complaint and has also refused to engage with the VCMS. The worst experience, please avoid this financially driven, unprofessional and uncaring practice.

New vets that is local and was lovely first time went in, signed up for their monthly subscription and when needed to go ask a quick question about a broken nail they was quite rude, receptionists first thing she said was I don’t have time to register you, we was already registered just wanted to ask if dog needed to be booked in and then the vet pipes up with we don’t have walk ins but you are number 2!.
Then tried telling me I needed to book her in for pain meds which i knew 10000% she didn’t need, poor service rude vet and staff.

Very poor service and I do not recommend Harrison’s vets. They whitewash complaints such that I escalated my concerns to the professional regulator, namely, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). They are very unprofessional, unkind and show absolutely no compassion. I do not recommend Harrison’s vets.

Left the dog in pain! Money driven & denied responsibility

our dog got injured in their care. they claim this could have happened anywhere else and denied responsibility. our 10 year old dog needs regular vet visit and poking with needle as a result of this injury and Nicole Mann the rude, patronising clinic director, in black and white said they would NOT even meet us half way in cost for what happened in their clinic. I at no point said I would not pay for my dog treatment. i wanted to know how much responsibility would Harrison's family vets would take for what happened under their roof. Nicole Mann and Floriane ojeil refused to treat my old dog that was in pain. not even given painkillers. Customer care is non-existence. money driven. no care for animals when it comes to real situations like this.

Injured our dog and gaslit us about it

Their incompetence when cleaning our dog’s ears caused an extremely painful haematoma in his right ear, causing swelling and distress.

It took two days for a follow up appointment and when we raised concerns about what had caused the injury in the first instance, they back tracked and denied responsibility, although we had been told it was the vet nurse that caused the injury when collecting him from the original appointment.

They then refused to treat our dog, despite having an appointment, leaving him in pain and distress.

The clinic director Nicole Mann lied about contacting us, was condescending and rude, and left my wife feeling that she was being patronised and dismissed due to the fact she was not born in the UK.

We left our dog in their care, they injured him, lied about it, refused to treat him and treated my wife in a manner bordering on racist/xenophobic.

Avoid this company at all costs.
