Therapist patient..

The therapist is understanding, non-judgmental, patient and good at listening. I wasn't sure if she would have expertise with what I needed help with but she has a good understanding and hasn't pushed me as hard as a previous therapist, so she makes it less distressing (as an experience)...

Left and abandoned by Helloself

I am sickened at the way HelloSelf has treated my case and has left me feeling worse than I had started off they simply do not care about you, all they want is your money. It took me a very long time to develop trust in speaking to someone and I had finally been matched to a Therapist who I found to be a genuine nice person and I could trust wholeheartedly. He made me feel like I could talk to him about anything and spoke to me like a human being.

I was making excellent progress and I had started going back to work as a result of the work we did. I knew I was doing really well. However, all my therapy sessions had abruptly stopped without me being able to contact my therapist ever again. From the reviews, it seems they have done this before to clients, and the company will suddenly stop you from working with your therapist as they have done to other people. It seems if you raise concerns ,the company, instead of addressing them, gets rid of your therapist and damages its clients who, like me, have taken a very long time building trust. I am now being asked to start all over again with someone new , and this is awful. How can a psychology company do this to its clients? I feel I am just a number for this company they don't care about my well-being and what progress I was making. A number of other people have complained about HelloSelf on this platform and I completely agree with them. This company should not be in the business of providing therapy sessions they clearly just want your money with no regard to your mental health.

My mental health has been damaged by helloself. I would never recommend any of my family or friends to seek such a service whatsoever with no care for its clients and the mental health suffering I have endured.

Please protect your self's and do not go to this company for your mental health like me and many others you will be left damaged and abandoned like I am now. I am put off from seeking a remote company for my care and prefer waiting to be seen by a company better suited to managing vulnerable clients like me.

Easy, effective service

This is a really easy way to get regular therapy with a great therapist. Easy to use system and plenty of reminders and prompts for even those who aren't that tech savvy.

Highly skilled professional with a fab platform

The platform in itself is great as even if the internet connection drops you can still have volume and it doesn’t just cut out . So far I have been impressed with the professional I am seeing. It has been a positive experience that is improving my wellbeing already and I exited about what it has to bring.

Life changing

Currently in therapy at Helloself and it is honestly changing my life for the better. I feel positive for the future for the first time in a long time. My therapist is clearly a highly experienced clinical psychologist and the therapy is very structured to a particular mode whilst still giving me the opportunity to talk openly about everything affecting me at the time.

Incompetent

My husband was recommended this company and despite the lengthy process to get assigned a therapist, he still went ahead. The therapist he was given refused to help, simply threw him and us, his family, under a bus (not literally). She has caused us damage and when my husband stopped after a couple of sessions she spitefully reported him to his GP. Totally unprofessional and incompetent. Do not use this company. Find a psychotherapist who is trained in helping, listening and who you choose for your own needs rather than get assigned one based on availability.

A less than professional experience

Approached to help me find a counsellor. Lengthy on-line questionnaire, then questions repeated in an email. I questioned this (this not conforming to data protection principles, given highly personal information) - a lot of effort to get a rather defensive response. No nearer finding the counsellor I need.

They are quite slow to respond when you…

They are quite slow to respond when you first reach out. They also get a huge premium for the price, which is bad for the therapists.

Referred via NHS but it didn't work out

I was referred to this service via the NHS; would not recommend it. Though the therapist I spoke to was nice & understanding, HelloSelf only offer cognitive behavioural therapy and if you ask for any other kind of therapy they reject you. Every time I'd communicate with HelloSelf directly the answers were literally copy pasted from a customer service manual, and everything about it just felt so soulless and indirect. When you're seeking help for quite severe mental health difficulties, this can be really discouraging.

There was also a lot of inflexibility - the therapists usually work at random times of day/week and you can't reschedule the times. If you work the same times every week then you will be fine. If you do a flexible or freelance job, then you can't do this service as it has to be the one specific time you commit to every week, and if you miss it or ask to reschedule you may be asked to pay the full fees (if you're doing it privately) or you may not be able to do the treatment altogether (if you're NHS) without changing therapists. That is very stressful and it's hard to keep opening up to new therapists only to have to stop and start treatment.

Gone back to NHS now after already being on their waiting lists for eighteen months, and still haven't received any substantial therapy for my mental health condition.
