We dropped in for lunch as we knew they did gluten free.. we ordered coffee, sandwiches and fruit scones. Coffee took quite a while to arrive, but it was a distant memory by the time our sandwiches arrived. Now, people who need gluten free learn not to expect too much from bread - but this stuff was so dry and hard, if you fed it to the ducks they would sink. It was filling though So we had our scones boxed to take home and they were lovely. The final reason I give it only two stars was the bill - we didn’t see this on the menu but they charge extra to cater for gluten free ( do they charge for disabled too or high chairs for babies I wonder ?) . £47 for two lots of coffee sandwich and scone - steep even in this day and age I thought

We booked a bottomless afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was perfect took cakes home as couldn’t eat it all. Was £55 each and was pre booked. The cocktails were the worst I have ever had none of us could drink one. Awful!. I like a cocktail. But just no. The novelty service in teapots are on point, Except, they are dirty - used for tea and not cleaned properly. Our server however was adorable and she made our afternoon. She was attentive and kind. She didn’t seem to mind that we couldn’t drink the cocktails. She wasn’t surprised to be fair so they must be bad. I have never walked out of a bottomless stone cold sober but here, there was no choice. The cocktails sounded amazing, but tasted like dishwater. The dishwater they should have been washing the tea pots with. Three in our group and non of us liked, or could drink one cup of a cocktail. I think that says it all. I would go back for an afternoon tea but would not have a bottomless again.

Wonderful warm welcome even though we arrived early to the reservation, friendly staff and constant attention whilst not overbearing. Knowledgeable staff who rattled off the items on the stands. Friendly and good value for the price.

Nice food on the afternoon tea which is the only food option, along with tea and cakes at the weekend. Also, a clear case of discrimination towards senior citizens as they do not offer this option at weekends. Shame on you Mama Doreens.

On Monday 14th of July my husband and I went for breakfast to mama Doreen’s. The two ladies who served us, Becky and Lauren were lovely. They couldn’t do enough for us. Very attentive, friendly while being professional. It’s a lovely atmosphere and the food was fabulous, we were so full we had to take some of the deserts home. Will definitely go back again. Thank you

Ordered the mini cupcakes to be delivered for my mother in laws birthday and I've just been told she never received them. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. So no birthday surprise for her.

We have been visiting Mama Doreen for many years and always have 2 roast beef sandwiches followed by tea or coffee and our bill is always around £24. We never bother with the menu but on visiting on Monday lunchtime we were shocked when our bill was over double at £40.20. I realise everything has gone up but this was ridiculous.

Pre-booked table 2:30-4:30 for a special afternoon tea with my elderly father after recommendations.. Geared the whole day around it including fitting it around bus timetable catching 4:30 bus back. Sat down on time. By 3pm asking if they'd forgotten us..apologies ours was next.Watched 2 more orders go out elsewhere. At 3:15pm we left. At £25.95 per person it's too expensive an afternoon tea to have to rush because of their delay.
Apologies..'kitchen understaffed ( on bank holiday Monday with pre booked tables??) and had a table of 9 walk in'
Sort yourselves out Mama Doreens..take bookings only or walk ins only or be fully staffed.
Beautiful day totally ruined.
