Miller Truro

The initial meeting discussing mortgage options went well, but after learning of our income and budget and what could be lent, all interest in helping us dwindled. There was no enthusiasm or help in getting us a mortgage. My partners pregnancy was used against us as a reason that we may not be able to get a mortgage due to maternity pay. We were told we could only borrow a small amount from lenders and it had to be now as closer to the due date we would most likely be declined. We had a large deposit and yet we were not taken seriously. We were sent only one property to look at which was not even suitable to our needs. Emails went unanswered and we just got the feeling that we weren’t valued as potential customers, so we went elsewhere and secured a mortgage with no issue. Terrible service, would not recommend.

Truro office

Truro office

The team at Truro were heaven sent as things in the sale ‘hiccuped’. They worked closely with all parties to resolve a really tricky situation and was battling with a sense of justice for the vendor and purchaser. The kept focus on the end game - to sell the house and repurposed the other agencies ensuring they did not disrupt the sale. Credit to all three of them and especially Sophie who always was bright and welcoming in even the most difficult times. A challenging sale handled more than professionally, handled with compassion and empathy.

absolutely hideous company

i recently left a property unfortunately "managed" by millers.
every single aspect of my time renting via them was absolutely hideous, they may as well have not even been there because they ignored everything from me... unless getting extra money was involved!
now I've happily left after giving them adequate notice as stated in the tenancy agreement and handing keys back (all evidenced)... they're still causing BIG issues for me.
in a sleepy haze i accidentally sent them my rent for my current property. initially they said not to worry and they would send it straight back. then later in the day they left a voice message to say they couldn't give it back as i owed them rent until the 5th of december!
i had no previous knowledge of this until this very moment! I am now down 725 and have no way of paying my current rent and putting my small children and myself at risk of homelessness!
i have re sent all of the evidence i have, they are point blank refusing to send it back to me and now just blatantly and shamelessly stealing from me.

they are vile human beings and when i phoned again yesterday i was told by 'Travis' to ask him nicely and he'll think about looking into it and then laughed down the phone to me!

avoid, avoid and avoid again!!! bunch of parasitic scumbags

What a despicable LYING VILE .company

What a despicable company. As lovely as they can be while telling you that they will send you a viewing, chatty chatty chatty, yes you will have the first refusal, then keep you waiting for days, they actually screen their calls and flick it to the answerphone when they see it is you. Ring on a different number and the answer and sound really sheepish and make up a total load of lies as to why they haven't sent the video. In the meantime, you have let other properties go due to their optimism about getting the one you asked about. The fact that lucy and Simeone sounded so nice makes them that much slimier. I have family members with businesses in Torquay and will make it my first mission when I do move there to have the name of this tinpot company spread as far and wide as I can for being the disgraceful, duplicitous liars they are. ESTATE AGENTS ARE KNOWN AS FILTH FOR A REASON....................... THEY ARE

Bad bad and bad

I met Nesha at the property, who told me to "not pay too much attention to what comes up in the surveyor's report. Take what they say with a pinch of salt."

I was then told by manager, Shawnie, at various times that share of freehold flats "properties don't need Fire Risk Assessments on communal areas". MillerCountryWide have no idea what they're talking about. They strung me along and would say whatever they can to get the sale to go through with no regard for my time (or money). The sale fell through in the end, after 6 months and a lot of money wasted. Absolute salespeople.

The biggest joke is that they relisted the property to the market 1 week after the sale fell through. Clearly they hadn't made any of the changes that needed to be done. This is probably more due to the seller, although they're still listing properties they know people are going to have problems with. The property was a 2/3 bed flat - Flat 2, 12 Wyndham Square in Plymouth. Just be careful if you're looking at buying this flat as there are LOADS of problems with this property and it has not been kept up to regulations over the years.

Great service on a difficult sale.

I dealt with Millers Countrywide in Camborne, selling a tenanted property. It was a difficult sale, with tenant issues to deal with, not to mention Covid-related difficulties. One set of buyers dropped out at the last moment. My sale finally completed after 10 months on May 6th. Ian and Joe dealt efficiently with every problem and were very good about keeping in touch and keeping me informed. I would recommend them and would definitely trust them again.

Unreliable, untrustworthy and probably unlawful

We approached Miller Countrywide in Truro to view a property.

As expected they asked for our buying position before arranging a viewing, but then shockingly expected us to send all our financial information to them by email before they would allow a viewing to take place. That is just to to view a property, not make an offer, and an expectation that we would send bank statements to them by unsecured email.

I refused and noted I considered their information collection to excessive and therefore probably unlawful under GDPR. The person I was talking to stated that this was their Covid policy and that she would get her office manager to call me back on Monday.

1 month later we have still not been contacted by them.

So as a buyer if you wish to use a company that will demand excessive information from you and expect you to risk your information being used fraud just to view a property, use Miller Countrywide.

As a seller, if you are happy to have your property excluded from viewing by a cash buyer due to your agent probably acting unlawfully, use Miller Countrywide.

For me, I will never use a company that not only wishes me to place my banking details at risk for no valid reason, but in response to a promise to call me on Monday to justify their actions still has not contacted me a month later.

Terrible. Would not recommend

Would not recommend this estate agent. We applied for a property and the took a £200 holding deposit from us and now refusing to give it back. In the current housing crisis where people and families are desperate for homes, have nowhere to go and are facing homelessness - all these people are concerned about is lining their pockets. We have emailed them numerous times and now they just don’t reply and ignore us. The process from start to finish was disorganised and nothing was explained properly. To just take peoples money and not even bother to communicate with them is disgusting.

Yet another 1 star review, unsurprisingly.

Much like the other 82% of reviews, I too have had bad experiences them from both a buyer and a seller's point of view.

TLDR: They are incompetent, uncommunicative (even within their own offices) and just generally awful to deal with. The trouble is that there are too many chumps to rip off, which explains why a company can get 82% of reviews giving 1 star and still be in business. Seems wrong.

If you're a buyer and want to book a viewing, you'll have to give them far more data than they need, and far more than any of their competitors ask for. They'll want to know everything about you, and to be honest I'm almost suprised they didn't ask for a DNA test, a stool sample and for me to slice off a sliver of my kidney to give to them.
To even book a viewing with them you'll need to provide proof of mortgage offer, I'm assuming so they can try and rinse more money from you by offering vastly overpriced mortgage deals with their 'partners'. For a viewing only, there is no reason why you need proof of a mortgage offer, other than to force people into giving the company their details, which MillerCountrywide can then give/sell to their partners.

As someone who currently rents, I found out the very day I moved into the flat that they put the property on the market, then started hounding me by email, text, phone calls and voice mails practically demanding entrance for prospective buyers less than a week after I'd moved in! The trouble is that they have Sales and Rental departments, and neither of them talk to each other, at all, so one hand literally has no idea what the other is doing and they all just pass the blame and responsibility over to the other side. It's bad enough business is greedy and incompetent staffed by people with shoulders so slippery I believe their clothing is made of teflon, and so incompetent I suspect if brains were dynamite most of them would have trouble blowing their own noses.

Oh and additionally, when I moaned about them to my landlord, he said he has also had nothing but trouble from them and was considering taking a property he has listed with them off the market entirely his experience has been that bad.

Personally, I feel like their company name would be more accurate and suitable if you removed the 'o' from it, added and 's' to the end and then removed all the other letters before 'c' and after 's'.

Avoid.

Awful, waste of money bad service

Still deducted their fees despite not collecting the last months rent! I have paid around £1700 in management fees over the years and have been disappointed with the service provided. Initially I took the tenant on in good faith as the office at Miller countrywide told me he was reliable and always paid his rent on time. Unfortunately he hasn’t and has left the flat in a poor condition with ruined carpets and wallpapers. He has also taken my boiler installation certificate. I will now have to pay an Indemnity policy for the sale. I find Miller Countrywide’s response to the situation so far as lacklustre and slow I once had a call from the Torpoint office asking me to arrange a repair for a leaking pipe as they had “too many other properties to deal with” they were still happy to take their fee. I have no idea what I have paid for over the past 3 years.

EXPLOITATION OF TENANTS

EXPLOITATION OF TENANTS - BEWARE!!!!!!!!
TENANTS BEWARE!!!!!!!!! THE LEVEL OF EXPLOITATION OF TENANTS BY THIS COMPANY'S RESIDENTIAL LETTING DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE MADE ILLEGAL.

MILLER COUNTRYWIDE LETTINGS, PLYMOUTH - False advertising photographs of outside of property. Repairs and faults noted in inventory though absolutely no repairs done! £800 pcm for property advertised as "furnished" yet second bedroom has a "Day Bed" with no mattress!!! The 2 seater sofa and chair in the lounge are noted on inventory as having "Fire Resistant labels" yet they have placed wooden MDF (A FIRE AND HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARD) underneath the cusions as it's collapsed!!!! Carpets stained. Photograph adveristing a tidy well kept garden with shed - is in reality overgrown and the shed is so rotten it's about to fall over!!!! The furniture is not fit for purpose, breaking all legal health and safety and fire requirements. The member of staff I spoke with Sam Robinson when these problems became apparent, was and remains, unhelpful, beligerent, deceitful, rude, arrogant, a time waster, and ill educated of both his and Miller Countrywide Lettings legal duties. Absolutely appalling company - USE AT YOUR PERIL. I am now speaking with Trading Standards, Government Fire Prevention Agency, and if Miller Countrywide Lettings, Plymouth, Devon refuse to put things right I WILL be taking them to court.

They forged my signature!!

They forged my signature and locked me into a fixed term contract.

Do not go with this company.. I'm in the process of fighting my right to leave.. it has taken for me to withhold my rent to finally get some response..

Me and two others at the house we rent have been addressing a number of issues with the property for over a year.. nothing has been done about it at all, our kitchen has water pouring in every time is rains.. we have windows that don't even fit the frame so draft comes in. We have rodent problems .. those issues over a year and a half later are still issues.

They will quite happily blame the landlord for these problems but ky final problem with them is the tipping point.

I called mid November to tell them would no longer like to love there because my housemate is stealing from me.. I was told y email their main email address to get the issue escalated.. no response.. I emailed the lady in charge of the property, Fiona at your Plymouth branch who called me and said that I cannot move because I was on a fixed term contract and that she would like to invite me to the office to sign the tenancy agreement. They let my other housemate move no problem.

A week or two later I get an email saying that I still cannot move because I'm in a fixed term contract... a contract they have admitted that I've not even signed yet.

I call them mid December to ask if they think it's acceptable that I've not had any response and I spoke to a young lad who clearly had NO idea what he was doing and said he'd call me back around lunch time... nothing. I called them back up to ask them f I'll still get a call back and was told, oh sorry, he'll call in 10 minutes.... NOTHING.

I them left them a voice mail, with my name, the property, my issue and my number... just like preamble said.. nothing, no response.

I then eventually got a call back in JANUARY!!? Was it because of my issues? ... no.. it was because I'd withelf my rent which I gave them full notice to the young lad I'd spoken to that I'd be doing. Obviously he hasn't relayed the message to anyone.

Fiona in the Plymouth mutley branch called me about this.. I'd said to her that I've already called and emailed numerous times and that not only am I not living with my thieving housemate, they haven't done a single thing we asked.. I've been waiting 5 months for a lock on my door because of said thieving housemate, and that I've waited 3 months for any response. During that conversation I pointed out that I've not actually signed the contract and I'll be moving out before the end of February whether they like it or not.. it was at this point she said "you have Esigned it" ..

WHAT?!?! I didn't sign your contract, check your emails.. you NEVER sent me the contract to sign.

Do not go with this company, complete liars, will use delay tactics and will commit unlawful acts to get/do what they want.

A complete disregard to the reasons I want to move and only care about lining their pockets. You can keep my deposit, I'll actually pay to make sure I'll never have to hear their name again.

FYI, signing something on someone's behalf without their knowledge is ILLEGAL

Torpoint Branch are terrible letting agents

Well where do I start, they fail to return calls and emails. They pass the buck, they have "managed" a rental property for several years for me. The agreement requires two inspections a year. Well I have had a gap of 19months between gaps and 7 weeks between inspections. They keep telling me this year it is government guidelines that mean the inspections have not happened this year. I have shared with them the legislation that says they can. I have now had a "virtual" inspection well the pictures are of a poor quality and it is 12 months since the last inspection. The current manager keeps saying it is not my fault I didn't work here then. It is tiring to deal with such a company. They used to be a little private letting agent when I started before being taken over by this shoddy outfit. I changed bank account for the rent to be paid into so they withheld the payments!!!! Well if you wish to have stress and aggravation use this. I certainly would not trust them to sort out a party in a brewery.

BUYER BEWARE...
Ensure anything promised or intimated, especially by the manager, is confirmed in writing.
During your viewing make sure you document an inventory, sold as seen properties means nothing to this estate agency as vendors will be allowed access to remove whatever property has been displayed to entice your offer.
Should you wish to discuss any issues, the manager will no longer be available and your emails will be ignored.
The Property Ombudsman can only act on documentation, none of which will be forthcoming from the St Agnes branch.
