Extremely disappointing experience. I booked an electrician to assess my air conditioning unit, expecting at least a basic inspection before receiving a quote. Instead, the technician barely looked at the unit, simply noted its age, and sent an outrageously high quote without any real assessment.

I was charged a $141.90 attendance fee, which I was told covers arriving on-site and providing a quote—but if the quote is just based on a glance and not an actual inspection, what value does this provide? When I raised my concerns, the company refused to offer a refund or acknowledge the lack of service.

I would not recommend this business to anyone looking for a fair and professional service.

We had a leaking tap issue on a Saturday night and called Mr Emergency not realising they were affiliated with Metropolitan plumbing. When the guy arrived, he took about 10 seconds and said “Oh, shit!” And proceeded to tell us that the system was under severe pressure and might flood the whole unit. In my opinion, he used scare tactics to try to get us to agree to a ridiculous quote. Quoted $1649 (in addition to $141 call out fee) to replace 2 flexihoses and basin set plus add isolation valve. It was a 60-90 minute job. When we refused the quote he implied that we were being stupid and said “that’s the price you pay for an after hours plumber”, even though the website and admin staff repeated that the rates are not marked up for after hours calls. Thankfully, our usual plumber who we trust made himself available the following day so we were able to decline this quote. Our usual plumber did the work in 90 mins and charged $616 including call out fee and Sunday rates.

Do NOT give these guys your money!

Avoid Mr Emergency – Overpriced and Misleading Service

I had a terrible experience with Mr Emergency. They charged me $140 just for a call-out, only to then quote an outrageous $2,500 for a so-called “mandatory service” on my faulty evaporative cooling fan—without even addressing the actual issue. After checking with other reliable companies, I found that the same service costs only $229 elsewhere.

It’s clear that Mr Emergency makes money primarily from expensive call-out fees and upselling unnecessary services rather than actually fixing problems. This feels like a scam. I strongly recommend avoiding them at all costs and going with honest professionals instead.

i had a problem with my aircon, a guy came out and took picture of controller and wanted to service the unit at $1700 . he was here total of 5 minutes I said it doesn't need servicing I just want it fixed.
but he said it needed serving before they can fix the issue, This was a total rippoff.
I also paid a callout fee of $140
Stay away from this company they are total rip offs

Had a man come out to get a quote on an aircon leak and ended up being too much so didn’t want to job done.
Still ended up getting a bill for $1400 for nothing.

If I could give zero stars I would. Total rip off pricing. When you have a plumbing emergency you can expect to pay more for the help, but their prices are just immoral. I was charged $950 for a part that RETAILS for $68 at Reece plumbing. Took the guy about 20 minutes to replace the part. So with call-out fee, compliance fee ( not mentioned anywhere) and the part I paid about $1200 for a job that should have been about $300 max. I place plumbers at the bottom of the most loathed professions. Do not use this company,

I have used these guys previously and had no complains, had a leaking roof due to an aircon issue, they first person attends (without lookong at the issue) insisted on a 2k service, we endes up doing it and they fix the leak also advising the original installer didnt do a good job. The system was working for over 8 years without any issues. Guess what 2 days after the fix have the keak again and when i contacted again they booked me but keep cancelling on me, rude staff on phone!! Beware, pls choose carefully!!

I called Mr Emergency and was expecting a fair quote for replacing an old gas heater.
The quote I was given was $7918. At first I trusted that it was a fair quote so I said 'go ahead'.
However, I went to my computer and noticed that such gas heaters on the market cost around $1300 to $2500.
I went back to the Mr Emergency technician and said that I want to cancel the request because their quote is ridiculously high.
They already started removing the old unit so I told them to finish off removal but not to go ahead with installing the new unit.
Then I was charged a $1840 cancellation fee including $1100 for materials. The only materials brought by the technician was a cap worth a few dollars which they used to secure the old gas pipe.

Contacted Mr Emergency for a Clipsal fan repair fix. Advised me that they’re too busy and can’t take any bookings in my area. Disappointing. May need to hire more staff? Very polite phone call though. Oh well. Will look for another tradie.

This company can start by being honest with potential customers. $140 call out fee is to cover there expenses only and nothing to do with the job. All i wanted was a service on a Evap air con and a new water pump. Instead they wanted to replace the whole system with a new one for $8000 then when i said wtf he said they could do the service and repair but that would cost $2500. So you know the part is worth maybe a $100 and would take a fair operator about 30minutes to do. What a rip off shonky business. Do not deal with this mob of thieves.
