NYCSPREP Avis 

My name is Rafaella and I'm an IMG from Brazil. I took a full mock exam at NYCSPREP on November 30th & December 1st and took my CS exam on December 9th, 2019, in Philadelphia, which I passed with stars in all components.

I had already prepared with a partner for 1 month before taking the mock exam, which is why we decided not to do the full 3-day course.

The experience at NYCSPREP was great. The SPs are really professional, and provide good feedback after each encounter which really helped me smooth out all the flaws in my preparation. There is the option to take the full exam in one day or divide it in two, which is what I did, and what I recommend doing to make the most out of it.

After the mock you schedule a meeting with Dr. Somas so he can go over your patient notes and give you feedback on that. He gave me some great and easy to apply tips which greatly improved my notes, made them cleaner, more organised and easier to write.

Never having had any contact with SPs before, I believe the mock test was exactly what I needed to go into the exam with more confidence and feeling fully prepared.

A great bonus at NYCSPREP is that you can continue to practice at their facilities after you finish your course/mock test. There are always groups of students/doctors practicing there, so it's a great opportunity to practice with different people before the exam

I only took out a star from my review because I believe NYCSPREP could improve in terms of punctuality. My mock was late on both sessions and with a little more organisation I'm sure this could be easily fixed. The facilities were also a bit crowded, but they've now moved to a new location which I've heard has a lot more space.

I took a course on August and it was really helpful. Dr Somas is really good and SP were very kind and give me a helpful feedback! You can practice with your partner at the office. They offer the place and that place is exactly same with real test center. Thank you for providing good course.

Thanks to this amazing course, I had the possibility to excel in this exam. This course gives you exactly what you need to pass this exam easily. They explain how you should perform in real-time, they have amazing patients who you can practice with and getting reliable and accurate feedbacks.

This review course was a life saver because I went into the exam very confident that I was going to do well and the results have proved exactly that. Totally worth the money and to be honest I would’ve paid double because of the results. Really could not have asked for a better, more professional or effective Step 2 CS refresher/prep course. As a medical student who was returning to the wards after having been away doing research for over a year, I was rusty clinic-wise and simply wasn't prepared to do the 15-min H&P's + counseling needed for Step 2 CS when I first took the course. But Dr. Somas' intensive/rigorous training and tailored guidance + practice with his incredible SP's whipped me right back into shape! I really appreciated how the SP's did NOT make cases easy for me, so I could really understand my areas for improvement and be prepared for any challenge on the exam. In the end, I passed Step 2 CS on my first attempt and even got a star! I definitely had to do the extra work to practice and apply the important interviewing/exam principles that Dr. Somas taught me, but the facility gave me access to everything I needed to build my skills and confidence to succeed. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested in not just improving their exam performance but also sharpening their interviewing and exam skills in general. Thanks again for everything.

The course is very good as in the 3 days it outlines the steps and then you get to come to the center and practice with other medstudents there. Dr. Somas keeps giving feedback and tips. I recommend taking 2 mocks.

NYCS prep course has been amazing since the moment I entered the center. They have a brand new state of the art facility for CS prep with 6 spacious rooms and plenty of other rooms for other courses like step 1 and step 2 ck. The rooms were nicer than the actual CS rooms I had during the real exam. You will learn tricks and techniques that will help master all the components of CS especially the ICE component. Dr. Somos does an incredible job of giving individualized attention and makes the whole experience well worth your time. I highly recommend this course for not only passing but for getting high performance in all components of CS. As a side note: I attended USMLE Gold course in Houston. Do NOT go there for the CS prep course...they are very pricey and the course is not good, nothing like the NYCS prep course.

I will reccomend NYCS Prep to anyone who wants to succeed and excel in Step 2CS. For me it has been quite the journey from my self doubt and incapablity NYCS PREP prepared me well that i excelled in my most dreaded step 2 cs exam.

I highly recommend it to anyone its an excellent place to achieve success.

Great location and great professionals!

The only thing I would complain of is that I scheduled 1-day mock (12 cases) and when I showed up to the place it ended up being a 2-day mock (6 cases each day). My schedule was tight by the time but fortunately I could fit that extra day in it. Lost $10 from the bus trip I had during that day though.

Very Good for CS preparation esp: for ICE part.

I found the course and the instructor to be very helpful. In a span of 3 days he highlighted the pertinent points and hammered them down with enough repetition and practice that on exam day it felt like a routine. The standardized patients were very helpful with their feedback as well

I was looking for a place to study for cs and got a hint on NYCSPREP. I was not disappointed. Dr Somas and his team are just so amazing. He tells you what you need for the test. And the patient notes are so excellent. I recommend him a 100%. In case you are wondering if you will be able to practice afterwards, he's got you as well. He helps to review your practice notes even after the course. He is very nice and considerate. Thanks Dr. Somas and NYCSPREP.

100% recommended. IMG graduated in 2013. Took step 1: 05/2018. Took CS 10/2019 and passed. Was afraid of not having fresh knowledge so I took the course, amazing experience, they teach you exactly whats important for the exam. Go for it!

A big thank you to Dr Somas and team at nycsprep for their guidance and tips for the CS exam. The 3 day course gives you enough of study tricks to clear this exam. The mocks are the most important aspect of this course which gives you a clear idea of how the exam is going to feel on the main day. The best part about nycprep which differentiates it from other courses is that they teach you enough to pass the exam i.e. nothing over the top and nothing less which is essential because on the exam day, we really don't get time to do everything that we study. I'd suggest doing atleast 12 mock exams before going in for the exam.

I did nycsprep course june 14-15-16 and the truth is that It was amazing. I had 2 weeks to prep for the CS and I'm from Brazil, graduated in 2012.
After the 3 day course, I spent 5 days going through First aid CS cases.
Without the course, I wouldnt be prepared for the test.

The four things you need to excel in step 2CS exam are confidence, communication skills, ability to write a good note in 10 minutes and knowledge. When I attended the workshop, the only thing I had was knowledge from my previous board exams. NyCS prep empowered me with the rest. I came as a clean slate. I hadn't done any rotations in the US and had no experience of how to deal with patients in the US. NyCS guided me through this journey. I went to practice at the centre after the workshop and could discuss my doubts with Dr Somas in the evening when he would review our notes. The mock tests prepare you for the worst clinical scenarios. After those mock exams, you feel so sure of yourself that nothing in the real exam can shake your confidence. The real deal felt like an easy day at the centre. I got 2 stars in my score report and the credit goes to NYCS, Dr. Somas, SPs at NYCS, and the study buddys I found during the workshop.

Yes, Dr. Somas is amazing, no question but the real stars are the standardized patients. They are so committed to their roles and to helping you succeed.
