At the RSPCA, we’re proud to be there for every kind— from pets in need to wild animals who need urgent care. Every day, our dedicated teams work tirelessly to protect animals, prevent cruelty, and offer hope in situations that are often distressing and complex. As a charity, we face difficult decisions about how to use our limited resources, and we must prioritise the most urgent and serious cases of abuse or neglect. This sometimes means we can’t attend every call, no matter how much we wish we could. When we’re unable to be there in person, we’ll help in other ways—offering you support, directing you to organisations that can help fast, and, when it’s safe, empowering you to take an animal to a vet. These shared efforts truly make a difference. We’re incredibly grateful for the kindness, patience, and support shown by the public. Together, we can continue to speak up for animals, protect those in need, and build a better world for every kind.

Called & took an injured bird found in my garden to them. They were very sensitive & let me know it couldn’t be saved.
I can’t fault them at all.
PS I called a local vet/animal rescue centre who had an emergency so couldn’t help.
We have to realise they are a charity & do their best. None of us can know what they’re dealing with or when.

I tried to call the Oxfordshire branch as a dog, on a daily basis, has been put in a garden in this extreme heat. Listening to it cry every day through the summer, crying until its cry becomes quieter is hard to listen to. 1st call was terminated as they ignore crying dogs so I called again. The person answering really wasn’t interested. He was obsessed about the post code. I gave everything, my details and the name of the street and house number, but he just wasn’t bothered. I wonder just how many people have called about that poor animal. Amber heat warning and it’s left in the garden. Crying. For hours. I’m disgusted and disappointed with RSPCA . 32 degrees in the shade in my garden! That poor dog.

RSPCA are a disgrace. It's perfectly acceptable to leave three Parrots in a confined space. Unable to flap their wings. No stimuli. No perch. Depression does not affect birds apparently. They have to be visually sick / unwell. RSPCA you should be ashamed of yourself. It's not an excuse that you are charity and receive no government funding.

We adopted two kittens from West Hatch and the whole process, advise, support etc has been wonderful. They have gone above and beyond to ensure we and the kittens have everything we need. The advise was extremely helpful and they have been in regular contact since to check of we need anything at all. Its been a lovely experience and every staff member has been super helpful and engaging (especially to our young children)

The items were delivered within the promised time frame. They were well packed and were identical to some I had seen that were more expensive. I am impressed, especially considering all the bad reviews.

stupid useless waste of space company that don’t deserve ANY of the donations they receive. won’t help an injured, neglected and abandoned cat after being made aware of the situation. need to reevaluate your choices of being a rescue if you don’t help

Tried to report a wild seal entangled with a rope around its body. Noone taking calls, noone on their webchat and the Ai is worse than useless. The seal probably died. For ref. This was on The Twizzle leading to Titchmarsh Marina Essex. The RSPCA needs to lose their charity status.

Called them for an injured seagull on my property. Were super polite and nice, but... had no advice to give and not anyone to actually collect or look after the gull. Said they have limited resource and try to tackle abuse and neglect first... appreciate that, but you really are left on your own to tackle a bird you got no clue what to do about...

Absolutely disgusting service! Apparently animals only get abused from 8am-6pm! How dare they ask for money.,

Reported a dog who was tied up in a playing field in the extreme heat with no water who was obviously very distressed and trying desperately to free itself, I don't know how long the poor dog had been kept like this, the field is occupied by illegal travelers, the call handler I spoke to said as I could not give anymore information they would not do anything about it, I was quite shocked by this response now I can't get the dog off my mind, I thought the RSPCA were there to protect animals

I had an ongoing case with one of my neighbours who hoarded multiple cats and dogs and neglected and abused the animals, 2 cats mysteriously died. Onone occassion two cats were left in the flat without food or water. This is when I contacted RSPCA, they came out, helped me feed the cats through a window crack. And for the week I fed them and gave them water. It was during a heatvwave and bank holiday weekend. They would have died after 2 days without my care. The housing association gained access to the property and was shocked by the damage; the animals were all relieving themselves inside the flat and on the balcony. Even the curtains were soaked with it. The whole flat was carpeted, so you can imagine the smell! When the couple returned 8 days later, i got the call that oh well, the owners are back so we gonna close the case. I was shocked and pushed not to close it and provided more evidence including them kicking the dogs multiple times, a starving cat desperately trying to eat a rotten egg on the balcony. RSPCA came and I received an update again, stating the animals are okay.
To this day, the cats are trying to gain access to my balcony as they're locked on theirs for hours in this heatwave! NO WATER OR FOOD FOR THEM THERE! And my balcony is surrounded with a chew proof net, bird spikes and plastic chicken wire as my cat is FIV+ and can't be in contact with them. Yet, they're still injuring themselves to squeeze through caps, but I managed to fill in all of it so at this point they are just cutting themselves and hurting their paws. How desperate one animal could be? But yeah, the pets are okssy...
They also took in a kitten that's also been locked out often, the other morning the kitten was uncontrollably shaking and crying and her eyes were gunky. I promised myself I am not feeding them anymore and also don't care, but 2-3 weeks ago both dogs were locked on the balcony for hours in the heatwave, on the afternoon. It was over 30C, imagine the stone flooring there? After about an hour or so someone called the police on them, who told them to let the animals inside or make them comfortable.
Today I watched one of the cats desperately crying on the balcony for over 4 hours, so watched my camera back and indeed she was locked outside the whole night. Contacted RSPCA who told me the case was closed and they educated the owners. YOU CANNOT EDUCATE CRUELTY OUT OF PEOPLE!!!!!!!! Also was told if the mess and noise bothering me, contact environmental health department. LIKE IDGAF ABOUT THE MESS OR NOISE, I CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS SO SHOULD YOU! No more donations to RSPCA!

Today I phoned the RSPCA to report of a cat that has passed about 2 weeks ago due to severe neglect my vets told me to report them anyways because the RSPCA needed to be aware of the things that’s been going on with this family and animals, I knew that they probably couldn’t do anything now but at least they could be aware of these people for the future. I explained the cat had passed and I was told that they couldn’t do anything, I asked if I could explain the situation and mentioned the people still had a dog which was kept outside and had only been treated properly in the past few months since the woman of the house had got a boyfriend I mentioned to ere had been 5-7 other big dogs at some point which according to other people I have spoken to were treated poorly and would js seem to vanish and then they’d get another dog straight away. I also mentioned that there had been other cats that people in the area had taken off them because they were looking after the cats and they weren’t one of these people being my uncle anyways since the RSPCA won’t listen to what I have to say about this cat I am writing it here. I had been feeding, fleeing and grooming this cat for about 2 years twice a week every weekend when I visited my nan he had had a serious eye infection for atleast three months and I had been bathing his eyes, on July 5th I found him in the bush he always waits for me in and he couldn’t move his eyes were stuck and he had blood all in his nose and mouth and most of his teath missing. They had not taken him to the vets for his eyes and so they got worse and stuck together and this is how he got hit by a car. According to the vets who found that his jaw was fractured and his face had severe trauma this had happened atleast a week before I later found out that his owners had seen him during this time and didn’t think much of it. The vets also said it had looked like he had separate trauma possibly from being hit or punched by a human and not from a car. He also had no vaccines done and had cat flu and other issues because of this. I had the cat for 5 days til he hemoraged and was absolutely terrified of being alone he would not sleep without being cuddled and would cry if not and we also took him into the conservatory a few times thinking he’d miss being outside since they never let him in the house to my knowledge except 1 occasion a year ago which only for a week in December when put in the conservatory he was terrified and would cry until we took him into the living room. There is so much more I can say but all I wanted was the RSPCA to be aware of these people and have them on file and they couldn’t even do that, couldn’t be bothered to listen to what I wanted to say and were overall rude and unconcerned just because they no longer had cats which is why I also wanted to report them because I know for a fact they will probably have more in the future.

A huge thank you to the team at RSPCA West Hatch Wild for their kindness, compassion and care.
I brought in a little sparrow and, although the outcome was sadly not what I hoped for, I am so grateful he was given warmth, care and a veterinary assessment. The team made the kind decision to prevent further suffering and took the time to update me with such compassion.
It is clear how much dedication goes into the incredible work you do for wildlife. Thank you for everything you do to help animals in need. ❤️

Lots of information given regarding spikey barbed wire being erected by neighbours to keep our cat out. It is a shame this is not illegal under the Animal Welfare Act, but lots of information shared by the RSPCA if the problem results in your cat being injured because of this. So sad that anyone would result to this spiteful remedy to harm an animal. Thank you so much for all the information RSPCA

My 85yr Mum had a pigeon in her garden with a bone sticking out of its neck and it's head hanging down, couldn't lift it's head and was just walking around like this for more than 24hrs in extreme pain and very distressed. My Mum was also distressed. Rang the RSPCA for help and they just didn't want to know. I will never give to the RSPCA again. I may add that I also contacted the RSPB, PDSA and a local nature rescue centre and got the same cold response. We just wanted someone to put this poor bird out of it's misery as could not bring ourselves to do it or have the know how. I will never contribute to any of the above charity's, utter disgrace.

They should be ashamed not proud!
Reported a feral cat who has an injured open wound ear.
Just going around in circles, nothing accomplished & still leaving this poor cat without any care & assistance.
I have phoned you, because I cannot capture this poor cat by myself & take to the vet. This is when you people should be stepping in.
Not my first time reporting on abandoned or cats in need of support.
They just waste your time & don’t give a toss.

Warning re confused staff: Our application was turned down based on Annie's confusion. I mentioned my experience included us having dogs to stay - she put 2 & 2 together & came up with 10: "Sorry to disappoint but you can't adopt as you cannot have dogs to stay with an adopted dog" = assumptions rather than fact finding?

I became a volunteer dog fosterer at the West Hatch branch of RSPCA back in March. The training and support I received from start to finish was brilliant. I felt I was being welcomed into a large, professional organisation which hadn't lost the personal touch. Within a few weeks I was ready to meet my first foster - Penny. I went to visit her first and then brought my partner and children a few days later to ensure Penny was comfortable with us all, which she was. The process of taking her home was relaxed, professional and well thought out. We were able to borrow any equipment we needed including bedding, a lead and toys. Food was provided too. There was no pressure to take her on, unless I wanted to, and importantly the staff wanted to see how Penny responded to the rest of the family too. Penny needed various visits to the RSPCA vet to ensure she was healthy and ready to be adopted. Both the vets I met were lovely, unhurried and thorough. I felt informed and supported in giving her any prescribed medicine or treatment plans. When Penny went off her walks I let the team know and they consulted with their animal behaviourist to offer me some advice. This was invaluable and gave me some different gentle approaches to try with her. After a few weeks with us, we started to see a real difference in Penny. She started to relax and gain confidence. I remember the first time she did the zoomies around the garden. It wasn't long before we all fell in love with her and I let Emma at the RSPCA know we'd like to adopt her. She was very positive and said they never minded a foster fail. Four months on, we've officially adopted Penny. The RSPCA staff have all been wonderful and I'm so grateful for the positive experience I had in the short time I was a volunteer fosterer.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with the RSPCA. After two abandoned kittens were left on my doorstep, I contacted them expecting urgent help for vulnerable animals in obvious need. Instead, I was met with a lack of compassion, poor communication, and no meaningful assistance.
It was incredibly frustrating to be left feeling as though the responsibility had been pushed back onto me rather than the organisation that promotes itself as being there to protect animals. The response I received gave the impression that the welfare of these kittens was not treated with the urgency the situation deserved.
This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in the RSPCA. When people reach out in an emergency involving abandoned animals, they should receive practical support, clear advice, and prompt action—not be left feeling abandoned themselves.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the RSPCA. I found the service disappointing, unhelpful, and far below the standard I expected from a charity dedicated to animal welfare.
