Safestore - Harlow Avis 

I needed to send something via DHL at our local Safestore branch and had to make the arrangements quickly, so Danny was exceptionally helpful talking me through what needed to be done. My package arrived where it needed to go the following day - exactly as required, so thank you Danny for your patience with me!

I recently took out a storage unit with Safestore on short notice. Having previously worked at a storage company myself, I’m familiar with how these businesses operate and what level of service customers should reasonably expect.

A few weeks after moving in, I had a change of employment which meant my pay date also changed. I contacted Safestore to explain that I would be unable to make payment on my account, which was just over two weeks overdue, but that I would be settling the balance within five days. During this call, I also explained that I urgently needed to access my unit to retrieve my son’s red health book for his GP appointment the following day.

Despite explaining the situation clearly, I was refused access to my unit. The staff member stated that she would need to contact the regional manager for permission which, based on my experience in the storage industry, is unnecessary, as discretion for such matters can typically be exercised at store level. The lack of flexibility and understanding was extremely disappointing, especially given that I was transparent about the situation and had already committed to making payment.

Additionally, the pricing is misleading. While they advertise the first month as “free,” the rates increase significantly afterwards, making the overall cost far higher than expected.

Overall, my experience with Safestore has been frustrating and unprofessional. The staff were unhelpful and unwilling to accommodate a reasonable request under genuine circumstances. I would not recommend this company, particularly if you’re looking for fair pricing and compassionate customer service there are definitely better options in the area absolutely appalling

Paul and his Team are so friendly and helpful, facilities are super clean and well maintained. Acess is easy. Can't fault anything here. Highly recommend.

I would like to say how happy I have been with my booking with Safestore Harlow.
I went in to make a reservation, all of the staff were amazing, helping load my car with boxes and cling film!
I found out two weeks later that my house move had to be cancelled. The boys gave me a full refund. Today I returned the unopened boxes and new bubble wrap, and was also given another full refund.
I would recommend Safestore Harlow to everybody, amazing helpful staff who couldn’t do enough for me. I’m so pleased I went there, and when and if I move I will definitely be using them again.

Avoid. I would advise going somewhere else.

Started off well — but they changed the terms mid-contract.
Storage was reasonably priced and the local staff were friendly. But Safestore changed my contract terms without consent, extended the notice period, and charged me extra as a result. When I raised a formal complaint, head office ignored it entirely. Disappointing experience with no accountability.

From the start of our conversation, I believe his name was Sam, he helped with the size storage I needed, the cost, opening hours and did I need boxes or packaging.

Danny was great - super knowledgable and helpful!

Initially we made an enquiry and Dave was more than helpful explaining everything clearly. The paperwork was sent promptly by email with the offer of help filling it in should we need it.
When I rang I was recognised immediately and everything was confirmed.
On the morning we were going to take the furniture in for storage I received a courtesy call and when we arrived everything was in order. Dave and Helena are professional and friendly.
I would definitely recommend Harlow Safestore due to polite efficient staff and excellent communication.
