Dreadful Experience - Steer Well Clear
A long story cut short-ish. Their engineer fitted the wrong toilet flush completely - single flush to replace a dual (I'd requested like for like) despite coming out prior to assess what was needed. When I told my usual handyman that the flush wasn't working well and had never worked well, he looked and told me the SS engineer had fitted a single but the fittings inside were for dual, I reported it to Silver Saints who wouldn't accept any responsibility and said I was out of warranty. I fought it and it took 3 separate visits by 3 different engineers, 20-odd emails and the threat of court action, over a period of many months, before they agreed to process a refund. I have now received a refund but not for the full amount, so I'm still emailing them for the outstanding £42. I'm surprised to hear others have had such positive experiences with this company because honestly, my experience has been dreadful and I would recommend steering well clear of them.

Jay visited a property where I am the landlord. He was super professional and pragmatic. My tenant asked him to look at a number of other small issues which she was concerned about and I was happy for him to deal with. Jay did what he could and made other sensible suggestions.
I have tried other companies but I am always impressed by Silver Saints: for various reasons there was an error on the address but Silver Saints were excellent and understanding and waived the charges which I was extremely grateful for. I absolutely recommend them and Jay has been first class.

Their customer service is a joke - cancelled on me four times
I have been a long time Silver Saints customer and yet the experiences in the past few months with the company have been so disappointing and frustrating. I always appreciated their reliability, promptness and responsiveness and yet recently they have offered a really terrible service.
I have had a lot of house work on recently so have called them out multiple times for jobs and it has really not been working for me. The online slot booking system is not as seamless as one might think - a couple of times now I have clicked on a slot and reserved it only to have my time manually changed to a completely different time by the head office.
More significantly though my last FOUR bookings have been cancelled last minute, some of them at the very end of the waiting time slot so I have already waited in for the Saint only to receive a text at the end of the slot announcing that they are not actually going to turn up. Two of these last minute cancellations were even the rearranged time that the Silver Saints had provided when they had previously cancelled which is a situation you really feel they would want to show up and be apologetic. These cancellations always happen last minute over text with little to no apologies or real explanations. This past Friday when it most recently happened I responded to the text to ask someone to give me a call, no one did. I then repeatedly tried the phone line listed on the website only to have no one pick up. When I finally got through to someone after a few staggered attempts they said they couldn’t understand why my booking would have been cancelled and they were going to urgently look into this and ring me back. I was grateful for this and waited for the call - I never received a return call. And then whenever I tried calling back no one picked up again. What a joke, honestly. I will be giving Task Rabbit a go instead in the hope of receiving some better level of customer service there - and recommend others to do the same!
(In terms of the actual service you receive when they do turn up this tends to be really hit and miss depending on who you get on the day.) I have actually previously posted a very positive review of the company a couple of years ago so I really don't know what has happened in the intervening years for things to go so downhill.

I think Stan is an absolutely excellent professional handyman. I feel very relaxed having him in my home and always totally confident he will do a very lovely job. He painted my bath panel perfectly with two coats of paint these last two times and has previously helped me put up a window blind and reseal a basin in the bathroom.

Excellent service
Just had a pleasant visit from Vasile from Silver Saints to do some repairs for me. He was clear and concise in his explanation of the problem and the fixes he made. It was not fully fixed on the first job as replacement parts were needed but he made great effort to put in temporary fixes (and also went beyond in other problems he noticed that I didn't originally see). He also went ahead processing the follow up job.
Excellent service all round and from the 3 times I've used Silver Saints, he's the best handyman I've seen from them.

Hit and miss if I’m honest
Hit and miss if I’m honest. First guy we had was a total legend, came and fixed a leaky pipe and did so in good time, so polite and lovely.
Second guy also did a great job, but had an absolutely awful attitude. Needed aerials disconnecting and the holes filled. Used our products but still charged us for materials (£20!!). He was directed to free parking but still chose to get parking we got charged for, also £20. Told us he’d be back in 20 minutes for drying time then took 40, and then another 30 minute break the second time. I tried to query the invoice I got when I saw these charges as we were so upset, but the woman I emailed was quite dismissive, and refused any changes to the invoice.
I’ve spoke to multiple friends since who have had the same exact thing happen (first guy who comes is great, second is bad and invoices need to be queried!).
Hard to say whether to avoid or not but I wouldn’t recommend.
