Another great review for Simply Lofts. We did a lot of research and came to a landing on Simply Lofts for our new room and roof terrace, due to the great reviews, so wanted to pay that back as best we could on here!

They provided us with an excellent contractor – WRN Construction – so their sub-contracting vetting process clearly works. All WRN’s workmen were extremely professional, kind, accommodating and they knew what they were doing. You can tell they really care about the job and want it to be perfect for their clients. Communication was excellent and where we wanted more information or to discuss something particular about the build, they (Ben and Ben) were open to conversations and helped us achieve exactly what we wanted – they went above and beyond really. We had multiple issues with a particular neighbour which was tiresome and dull - nothing to do with Simply / WRN - but Simply / WRN were so helpful and accommodating – even speaking to the neighbour with us on multiple occasions to try and resolve the issues, which we did.

Simply Lofts themselves were also quick to respond to us where we had any questions throughout the whole process. This was our first time doing any construction / renovation so the whole process was new but we were guided very well through the planning, drawings, architect meetings, asbestos surveys, party wall agreement etc.

Final thoughts – room and terrace look amazing and we are very happy with the result! Thank you so much to Simply Lofts and Ben – excellent job and you clearly work well together too.

As always with construction there will be issues which present themselves, but Simply and WRN dealt with them swiftly and to a high standard. Simply were both quick to respond and communicative. Supported with planning, drawings, party wall and the rest… all went through smoothly. Helped us deal with a very very tricky neighbour who consistently made life difficult for all involved. Almost blocked us from even doing the work…!
This was our first renovation project and we've been super fortunate to have such great contractors working with us who were able to spot any potential issues and resolve them before they became a big deal as well as give us lots of guidance throughout.

My project comprised a loft conversion over the full footprint of the house, and a ground floor rear and side return extension.
Simply oversaw the project from beginning to end, and the appointed builders were Made by Metos. Igli, Selo and their team worked to an excellent standard, communication was great, and they finished a couple of weeks early against the original programme.
The snags at the end were minimal and a 10 year warranty was provided so generally really happy with the way the project turned out.

Just finished our loft conversion and Aurel and his team were excellent. I would highly recommend them. Very easy to communicate with, and he genuinely cares about completing the job to a very high standard and to deliver exactly what you want. I recently used Simply for the construction of a roof terrace and internal remodel. I have worked with several construction companies on previous projects and must say the builders I worked with on this project (Aldo and Mario) were exceptional. They couldn't have been nicer people. They treated my home with the respect and the same attention to detail they would if they were working on their own property. I lived on site during the works and Aldo and Mario went out of their way to ensure the living space was left clean at the end of each working day. We encountered issues along the way with the project and Aldo was great at problem solving. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were also very considerate towards my neighbors and went out of their way to keep my neighbors happy throughout the project which made my life so much easier. Aldo was great at communication, super quick responses with detailed updates.

Before the works start Simplyloft provide you with a dashboard which the builder fills in with the break down for every step of the works and its costs, what has been paid or need to and any variation costs added (there will be some! but Florjan talks to you about it beforehand and does not commit until you agree on the dashboard). So no confusion. Florjan and Freddie (the builders) said the project would last 3 months and it did. (When Florjan says the bathroom will be tiled on such a date it will, so chose your tiles/floor boards or accessories well in advance). They turned up when they said they would and beyond, took the time to talk you through if something was not clear. The scaffolding was netted. Building control came all along the project when something needed to be approved so no surprise at the end. I wish Florjan and his team all the best and thank you.

We gathered few quotes from few companies for our loft conversion and didn’t know which one to pick. One of Simply Loft representatives, Igli, came to our house for free consultation and explained the process step by step. We made our decision based on excellent reviews, price and how professional everyone was. Simply Loft scheduled the start day very quickly and within few months it was all done! Artur and his team worked very hard to complete the project taking to consideration last minute changes, but also keeping all within the budget. Simply Loft provided online portal for payments which helped us track stages of the build itself as well as finance. They were easy to talk to, they even helped us out with partial wall agreement. The project was completed on time to high standards and we are thrilled with the final outcome. We would have no hesitation recommending Simply Loft and we would definitely use them again in future!

we used simply loft to compete our loft conversion late last year after being recommended by a friend and can honestly say we have not been disappointed. From start to finish we were kept up to date at each stage and felt supported throughout. Armando our project manager was fantastic as were his team. Simply supported us through the build and were there to answer any questions we had. We are already planning extension works with Simply. Would highly recommend.

The entire experience from start to finish was great. Ben, who led the building team, communicated well and the staff at Simply were always available for questions or direction. We went with Simply after much research and quotes for a wrap-around ground floor kitchen extension. Simply did a fantastic job pushing through all the early permission paperwork and getting the project moving.

The contractors supplied did an amazing job and really had an eye for detail. As with any large project, there were unexpected variances (such as requiring deeper foundations and slightly altered steel design), and Simply and the team were flexible and accommodating in working with us on addressing them.

The final fit looks fantastic, and we're very happy!

We used Simply for our loft extension and the builders appointed were Made by Metos. We are very happy with the result. Igli and the team worked really hard, to a high standard and proposed really ingenious solutions to any problems that came up ( we have an unusual house). They consulted with us at every step and were particularly sensitive to the fact we had a small child who didn’t like too much noise. We would definitely work with them again and would recommend them without hesitation

Simply oversees the loft project from beginning to end, with its own guarantee, an excellent service. The builder they assigned me, Ben Warren, was outstanding, with his own reliable, experienced team. My property, being a relatively recent build (1989) presented new challenges to both builder and architect and Ben was wonderfully helpful in reassuring the architect just which structural features were and were not necessary in the circumstances. The loft was built on time and without a flaw, and he has also been responsive on small matters outside the formal scope of his contract. I cannot recommend him enough.

Firstly, let me be clear, I am NOT a direct customer of Simply. I need to state this as I am aware they have a clause in their contracts to take legal action against customers that leave negative feedback.

Whilst not a customer, I have seen, first hand the complete shambles of an operation they run.

They were very engaging when arranging a contract with their customer, making time to meet, show photos etc but that is where the customer service stops!

Once they have your money they outsource your job to one of their “approved” tradesmen. From there it is totally hit or miss on what you get. In the case I am aware of, the main tradesman was based in a different part of the country. He rarely came to site and instead had a small team of guys that I would suggest had limited building skills, rarely turned up and later received a suggestion that they were working illegally. It was also evident that he wasn’t aware of the extent of work he had bid for and more money was requested early on.

Work I saw was disgraceful, floors uneven, supporting structures held together by insufficient screws, materials substandard etc. it was raised to one of the managers at Simply who commented “if plaster board had been installed, it wouldn’t have been seen”. Not sure that is the right attitude to have to clearly sub standard work. The same Manager also openly admitted to having no building background or experience.

Eventually, after months of highlighting concerns, tradespeople claiming to have not been paid, the original tradesman was taken off the job and replaced with a new team. This team was much better but despite suggesting starting again, they were advised they had to work with what was already there due to costs.

Eventually, the project reached a stage of completion and all seemed positive. Building control however have now raised concerns and I believe the customer is waiting to hear about remedial work that needs to be undertaken. This is having a huge impact on the family.

I am aware that communication from simply is lacking and management are not actively involved despite the complete nightmare the customer has experienced. A 3 month project is still going 2 years later and no clear ending insight.

Hopefully, whilst I do not have all the information available to share, others think twice before signing up with this company.

We used Simply for a double dormer loft conversion. Ben Warren and his team were excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.

I used Simplyloft for a double mansard roof extension. They were excellent and provided a great project manager Gentian who had a brilliant team of skilled, efficient, tidy and hard working men. The whole project was completed well within the timeline and to a very high standard with no hiccups at all. Gentian visited regularly to check the works and only accepted the best results and standards. He was also available on mobile if ever I needed to speak with him. Simply were there too but I fortunately never needed to contact them as it all went very smoothly with a great end result. Thanks all

We recently had our loft converted by Simply Loft, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. They made the whole process very straightforward, with clear timelines provided by the team and customer service were always available to answer any questions we had. Once the work began, our project manager and his team were absolutely brilliant. They completed the conversion to a very high standard and we are very pleased with the end result. They were very accommodating when we made some changes along the way and were transparent about any associated costs. We are absolutely thrilled with the finished result and highly recommend Simply Loft!

I own a ground floor Victorian terrace flat, and am joint freeholder of the entire building together with the upstairs flat owner. The upstairs flat owner recently commissioned Simply Loft to build a loft conversion/extension. The extension required my consent (which I provided), as did the placement of scaffolding on my demised premises (which I also provided, subject to strict conditions).

Before getting into the detail, it is important to highlight that Simply Loft does not appear to do any of the work itself, instead subcontracting another builder - in this case, WRN Construction Ltd. Nonetheless, as the head contractor, I understand that Simply Loft retains a degree of responsibility.

1. Property damage:
- the builders did not take adequate care to avoid debris falling into my premises. Large pieces of roof tiling, brick, tools, pieces of timber with nails coming out etc continually fell into my back garden beneath the scaffolding platform on regular occasions. In addition, my yard became littered with nails, screws and other sharp objects that are more difficult to find (and therefore avoid/clean), making it dangerous for me/guests/dogs/children to walk around in my back garden
- when doing brick pointing work, the builder spilled a concrete/mortar looking substance over a roughly 4 sqm area in my back garden, damaging sandstone pavers, garden pots etc.

While I was guaranteed at the outset that this company would take responsibility for any damage caused to my property, my experience was different. They did ask the builder to return to my premises and clean things up, which the builder did attempt. However, the attempts at rectification did not return my property wholly to the state it was in prior to the damage being caused. What's worse is that Simply Loft constantly changed the language it used in what appeared like an effort to water down responsibility. While they had earlier stated "if any remedial works to clear any area/damage doesn’t solve the issue the items will be replaced at the contractor’s expense", they then changed their tune after the attempted remedial works, stating - "they meet the standards we would expect".

2. Trespass
One of the conditions of the scaffolding erection on my premises was a 10 week time limit (up to 20 December). Nonetheless, the builder never communicated to me a date on which it intended to dismantle the scaffolding (which required the builder to enter the fully fenced rear of my property). When I reminded Simply Loft in writing of the 10 week deadline, the response I received was "noted" and nothing more. When I spoke to the builder in the first week of December, the builder claimed that the scaffolding needed to stay up in order to complete remaining upstairs works. I was not given a proposed date for scaffolding removal, and it is clearly unreasonable for me to sit around waiting to hear from them. I emailed Simply Loft and WRN Construction on 12 December with strict instructions that nobody was to enter my premises while I was away for Christmas, and that I would return on 29 December at which point I was happy to agree a time for the contractors to attend, enter my property, and remove scaffolding. Given previous property damage that had been caused, I did not want them present on my property without me being there. They never responded to my email.

Instead, on 21 December, they entered my private property without my consent and against my strict instructions. I have video footage of at least 3-4 contractors traipsing around in my rear garden, unloading building materials, laying large pieces of scaffolding across my garden etc. All without my consent. My upstairs neighbours also alleged to me that this was against their strict instructions to the builder as well. So the contractors entered my property knowing full well they did not have my consent, trespassing on my property. They never even acknowledged this, apologised, explained, let alone seek consent (which is a legal requirement when entering another's property).

I would warn prospective customers (and neighbours of prospective customers) against using a company that treats others' property rights with such blatant disregard.

UPDATE:
In response to SL's comments:
- you originally offered to replace damaged sandstone pavers if the cleaning process was not effective. I have email correspondence confirming this. I have evidence that the cleaning process did not work, which you refute.
- you chose to ignore my latest email correspondence
- WRN was copied to the Sept email regarding scaffold conditions
- the statement "You were informed they could only do this on the 21st of Dec – not the 19th of Dec as per your request" is completely untrue. I never received any such communication.

I put in a huge effort into finding the right company to help with my loft conversion project. I have had some challenging experiences with building works in the past and I wasn't going to risk repeating them. I wanted reliability, consistency, no sudden and randomly escalating costs, control over the process, a timetable I could trust, and the highest standards of workmanship. I got all of those things from Simply and from the truly professional contractor they appointed. The process was surprisingly smooth and it lasted exactly for exactly the number of weeks they said it would. There were a few small issues along the way, but none were Simply's fault, and some were unavoidable. All issues were dealt with professionally and swiftly. In terms of build quality, it is phenomenal. I could not ask for a better loft conversion - it has transformed my home and quality of life. I am really glad I went with Simply.
