Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience – I would not use this company again.
We booked Alderley House as an entire property for business accommodation. There were three people staying at the property, with one additional person staying for just one night.
After the stay, I was contacted and told that because three additional beds had been used, I would be charged for three additional people. I personally stayed at the property, so I know exactly how many people were there.
When I explained that members of staff may simply have changed or swapped beds during the stay, I was still told that the charge was based on the number of beds that had been used rather than the actual number of guests staying at the property.
This is particularly disappointing because, from our understanding when booking, we were renting the entire property, not individual rooms or beds. Had it been made clear that simply using another available bed within the house would result in an additional per-person charge, that would have been a very different situation.
I run a company that regularly requires accommodation for employees across the UK, so we deal with accommodation providers frequently. I have never previously encountered a situation where the use of additional beds within a property we had rented was treated as evidence of additional occupants.
The amount involved is not the issue. It is the principle and the way the situation has been handled.
Based on my experience, I would not use this management company again and would strongly recommend that anyone considering booking checks the terms regarding occupancy and the use of beds within the property very carefully before booking.
