The most unreliable product I have ever owned
My experience of Sony product design is totally the opposite of the one other reviewer here today.
The short-throw projector LSPX-P1 was well designed in terms of its size, format and visual appeal in the domestic environment. When it worked (occasionallly) it was enjoyable. However, it has been totally unreliable: issue after issue after issue (see my earlier review from Dec 2019). Even when it did work, this was only after a protracted period of struggling with the thing. The tech support from the retailer I purchased from could not help so I turned to Sony. They failed dismally. All they did was suggest I updated the app (I had done so) and try the reset (I had also done this). Good at passing the buck: at one point I was told to contact their US department - this is for a product purchased in London at John Lewis! I should have got my money back within the guarantee period but kept hoping for a solution. Now I have kit worth over £1K to recycle. It is entirely unusable. Its stuck on a slideshow I've seen ad nauseam and the option in the app to select external output is permanently disabled (in fact all options are permanently disabled so I can do nothing but look at the same old slideshow). The product is no longer manufactured - presumably because it was such a failure. So I probably can't even sell it on ebay. All the effort went into the visual design and the marketing (there was a whole pop-up showroom in Hackney promoting the thing) and none into getting a reliable product. Sony are indeed a big name and prior to this experience I thought of the brand as one of quality. Not now! I bitterly regret buying the thing.

An appraise based upon continued daily use of a Sony DVD-player, 5.1 Surround-System and an HD-TV, suffice-to-say, when you find a company that does deliver a high standard of product for a budget-that-suits, it makes sense and saves a lot of time (and possibly some bad reviews) to start as you mean to go on: Sony is a brand-name for a reason and would definitely look to purchasing from them again.
