I am writing to share my excellent experience with Sprintax. As a non-resident, navigating state tax rules can be incredibly confusing. They provided exceptional support by clearly explaining the rules regarding state income tax payments and helping me understand the exact edits needed for my forms. Thank you both for your patience, clarity, and outstanding service!

Use it if you want, but go in with your eyes open. If something goes wrong, you're mostly on your own.

The platform is easy enough to use, though you'll want to make sure you actually understand the legal definitions behind the questions. And yes, you still end up filling most things out yourself, but that's tax software for you.

My real issue? My case was as simple as it gets: one fellowship, one income source. Sprintax told me to file a New York State return. Turns out, I never had to. New York State sent me a letter saying exactly that, and I got a full refund, one day before I left the country! Lucky me. At least eight of my colleagues with the exact same situation had no idea. Some already left. I don't know if they'll ever see that money.
When I reached out to Sprintax multiple times to understand what went wrong and avoid this next year, I got nothing but automated responses. And when I finally pushed for an actual explanation, I was told I'd need to purchase a post-filing service for them to review their own mistake!!!!
No thanks. You gave me incorrect advice, I almost lost hundreds of dollars, and now I have to pay extra for you to tell me why?

Overall, my experience was very good. The support team responded quickly, the email communication was smooth, and the process was handled professionally. I especially appreciated the fast responses and regular updates throughout the process. The platform and support experience exceeded my expectations. Thank you for the assistance and support.

Nice to have a resource available as someone filing late not from the USA that is easy and doesn't cost a ton of money.

I was an international student and I used Sprintax for the first time. The system is easy to follow, very clear and when I needed support the team was readily available. Grace Sullivan has been really supportive and quite responsive throughout the whole process.

Sprintax failed to provide the service I paid for. They only send generic “wait, your case under review" messages. I do NOT recommend this service.

I worked with sprintax on my Swiss dividend withholding tax refund. It was easy and painless and inexpensive to get this refund, though the timelines are long (not sprintax's fault). They maintained great communication throughout.

Sprintax told me I owed $2000, and when I used TurboTax (with the same info) it transpired I was owed $3000.

Their incompetent platform nearly cost me $5000! Use someone else or double check the numbers they are giving you.

Not designed for non residents who live overseas with US income such as rentals. It is intended for students or non residents with visas living in the US. The chat support is useless and frustrating. Also the interface is confusing, not user friendly and does not provide options unless you live in the US. Wound up using TaxAct which has an easy 1040NR and was an absolute dream by comparison.

The sprintax tax questionnaire is very good and facilitates the tax return process enormously. The sprintax customer support, however, is great. My questions were all answered quickly and thoroughly. I don't know much about this whole topic and found a lot of assistance here. My main sprintax advisor was Mark Valentine and I am a Fulbright IIE participant.

I used sprintax because it was covered for me. If this would not have been the case, I would not have used it. Possibly there are also many other good ressources to find answers regarding the tax return process. Furthermore, I think the whole process should be organized in an easier way. Here, political adjustments could be made.
