If you want your properties to be sold Stephenson’s are the one! They focus on proper marketing and don’t just take average photos for the listing. I’ve dealt with multiple offices mainly York but also Easingwold and Boroughbridge, the teams are very professional and responsive whilst putting you first. Some of the negative reviews bemused me as I know many developers that will only buy from this Estate agent.

The Stephensons team helped me sell my house last month after being let down by another estate agents in York. The team were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, really helped as it was our first time selling, thank you so much! Would highly recommend.

This Estate agent refused to take me to a property I am very interested to buy (cash); I am almost blind, but unlike other agents in York they would not help me or the Vendors by agreeing to take me to the property or arrange for agent to meet me. On Right Move this property seemed ideal, I have a buyer for mine, but now having to look for further properties and better agents.
Would definitely not use this Agents to sell my properties with in the future.

Booked in to view a property through Stephenson’s, and what should have been a straightforward viewing turned into a far more difficult experience than it needed to be. We did the chasing to get the viewing!

The vendor’s wife showed us around and made a number of statements about work carried out on the property and disputes with neighbours which, following our own enquiries, we found to be inaccurate. We subsequently discovered that Stephenson’s had been formally notified about ongoing disputes involving multiple neighbours, as well as concerns regarding substandard work, but this information was not disclosed to us.

Had we relied solely on what we were told during the viewing, we could have made a very expensive mistake.

Our experience has left us with serious concerns about the level of transparency and professionalism. We certainly wouldn’t recommend taking everything you are told at face value when dealing with this agent. Buyer beware.

It is also worth doing your homework on the qualifications of the people you are dealing with. Stephenson’s makes a point of highlighting membership of the National Association of Estate Agents, but prospective buyers should understand exactly what that membership means and, importantly, check whether the individual dealing with their sale is RICS qualified.

For us, the whole experience left a very 1970s estate-agent impression — rather more Arthur Daley than professional property adviser.

Do your own checks, ask difficult questions and don’t assume the agent has told you everything you need to know.

Stephensons must genuinely be the worst, uneducated, inexperienced estate agents in the north. They misrepresented the property, they were dishonest, very unprofessional and just inadequate with communications. The service is just so awful, and their bullying tactics so blatant, that we had to pull out of the purchase.
