Torbay Council Avis 

It's a joke a Torbay council you submit documents was told via contact form you will get a call back within a few days zero phone call and no emails either. Plus been looking after my late father for 14 years plus health issues saw my doctor yesterday completely mentally exhausted and cannot complete private rented property searches my health at the moment is bad mentally and can't cope day to day activities the doctor could clearly see that he gave me a note forwarded on to Torbay council housing team. No confirmation of receiving documents and no call back from the 11th when I had to contact them via contact page. Disgrace Torbay Council yet again.

We invested in an empty property in Torquay .Spent thousands locally to furnish for air bnb use.
We paid our council tax and then the council brought in a 100% levy for 2ng homes effectively doubling our council tax.
The home is an Airbnb and not a 2nd home, we used to use it when not rented out and spent locally.
Due to this criminal extortion we are selling up and will never visit it Torquay ever again.

Last DEC l with son parked in disabled places at Broadsands Beach carpark paying for a ticket & displayed putting badges up but due to a vile pain from damaged hip got out pushing them down my Beetles dashboard hardly able to walk with bone on bone in hip we walked v slowly past new cafe for 2-3 yds -l turned to check lights off saw badges not visible went back v slowly in pain and saw a parking fine ticket ! FOR ONE MINUTE! l cant move fast ! WHAT a mean dirty trick to do on someone in severe pain ! All appeals turned down ! SHAME ON YOU TORBAY COUNCIL . 5 min rule ? I will never pay that & jail me Torbay council if not in hospital with 2 more operations due -TRY Wellswood shops for illegal parking + pothole on pavement outside coop is triphazard so illegal under health & safety !

If I could give zero i would. Very Unprofessional and run by staff who do t give a dam.the worst council in the uk

I try to called last 4 day too many time but they didn't even pick up called until 30 minit called continue raining and I went through the office they said u can called in telephone and I requested to change name but they didn't change and too many time called but no one picked up.very bed all the time not properly solved problem.

I was in paignton behind the old lidl car park on saturday the 14th march,i put £4.10 in the parking machine and i printed a blank slip i call emergency number on the notice board and she was very unhelpful , I then contacted torbay parking and there telling me to prove i put cash in the machine. This absolutely criminal what they're doing taking people's money and not given it back i know it only £4.10 but look at how many people done the same

There is a schedule for rubbish collection, but no one seems to care, the bins and recycle boxes could be out for days and there is no way to report missing collection as website is only half working and no one to call after hours when one is supposed to report missed collection. Essential service pages missing, and ding ding ding, the complains page as well!

Waste of time! Over the years they have destroyed the town centre and surrounding areas, aggressive parking enforcement to increase income and even lie about reasons with the council fully backing them. I was originally from this area but I’ve since removed everything I owned and will never return to that dirty, lying, corrupt, drug infested dump! And the just the council not even the town centre.

Recycling services are beyond useless. Pay extra for a brown garden bin only to have it sat outside due to no collection. Household recycle g is either days late or doesn’t arrive.
Everything now goes into the main black bin, food waste, glass, batteries, cardboard, metal.
A truly incompetent service!!!

Spent over £50 on parking across Torquay, brixham and nearby locations. There was a fault with the ring go app for parking asking me to call a number which I did and paid for parking. It transpired that the telephone confirmation paid for parking at a different location in Torbay so was issued a fine. Torbay were still paid money for my parking so we’re not out of pocket but refused my appeal. Also the area in general is tired and appears neglected which is a shame and not how I remember it from visiting years ago.

Visited Paignton recently - absolutely disgusting with bins overflowing and the whole place looking awful. How much money is this council making from holiday-makers I wonder ? Toilets needed a payment, payment made and the door still wouldn't open. Reported it to this bunch of clowns and they just biffed me off to some 'loo partner' they have for harbourside areas, rather than do the decent and professional thing themselves and report it on my behalf where they would have much more clout.

Thank you so much Tamara from Torbay Council Council Tax office. You went above and beyond to help a disabled old lady to navigate the maze which is the council tax forms and paperwork ! And the fact that you took the time to call me in person is just amazing ! For everyone knows how frustrating it is to wait on the phone ! :)

Torbay council are an absolute joke. The bay is worse than looking in a bin. They only look after the rich areas and everytime I'm on phone to them they charge me and find some bill that makes no sense. I hope they truly get whats coming to them. They the biggest criminals in the bay. Torbay shitehole

Not interested in resolving anything just apportioning blame and charging ridiculous fees.

The staff at Torbay council that I have had contact with before/ after moving house have zero humanity to the local residents.
Maybe they feel they have to be like this in today's age, but what a sad, sad way to be.
It would be different if it affected themselves or their family, I am sure.
Made an official complaint a couple of months ago, which was upheld, yet partly given gobbledygook as an explanation, which I feel may be to avoid giving the real reason for part of it, which may be the attitude/ decisions of individual staff members, or the culture in which they are working, so I am following this up, as though I had an apology, it looks like no changes will be made.

Came here for a week holiday absolutely filthy. In the town broken glass vomit on path in THREE separate places crackhead openly taking drugs the smell of weed overwhelming. Arrived Saturday pile of used nappies in gutter still there Thursday.No form of enforcement of any kind. Absolutely stay clear not safe for familys.Truly shocking!!!!

I try to be patient and supportive of business but service standards have dropped to new lows year-on-year. As I write this, I've noted very low ratings across various sites, so I'm not alone in my dissatisfaction and disappointment.

The Torbay Council has let me down repeatedly across various departments and situations. They have little professionalism, work ethic, attention to complaints; or the willingness to assist in any way. They push paper, emails and work around to ensure they delay everything in the hope that we'll give up. They waste time and money due to a complete lack of efficiency or effectiveness.

I would certainly not encourage anyone to move to their catchment area as you're on your own when it comes to anything where you'd expect them to help. The only people who might benefit are those who are wealthy and powerful enough to influence service levels.

Perhaps it's time for politicians to get involved and make an effort to improve compassion, service standards and community support for all stakeholders. We do count. Even if the Council treat us like we don't.

P.S. I chose today, 18/04/2024, as the date of experience as I received the outcome letter of my complaints investigation. However, my situation has been ongoing since January.

UK have gone camper and motorhome travelling due to coast if living.
But all devon area councils don't cater for us the just prefer to book you on bay parking. Start being motorhome friendly know wonder tourism is low here

Worse council ever existed. Not interested in making town better, or having good relationship with people instead want to charge you more and more money not giving anything back!!! When you try resolve issues with them they not interested and charge you more money for it. More ignorant cousil even know !!! How about we start charge you for not doing your work! Not emptying bins etc !!!!
