⭐ 1 STAR

⭐ 1 STAR – WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO TRADE GLAZE?

We used Trade Glaze many times over a period of around 10 years and were always happy with the company and service we received.

We then hadn’t needed to use them for around four years. When we went back to them for my 87-year-old mum’s front door, we did so because of our previous good experiences. We didn’t realise the company was now under different management with Sharon and Stuart.

Unfortunately, our experience this time has been completely different. In my opinion, what was once a company we trusted has gone seriously downhill under the new management.

My mum’s front door is visibly out of alignment and became so difficult to operate that the top lock has had to be taken out of operation just to make the door usable.

Instead of simply coming out, properly assessing the problem and putting it right, we have had to continually chase them.

One of the things I find most concerning is that both Sharon and Stuart told us that because WD-40 had been used on the door, the warranty was void.

Importantly, I have the conversation recorded on video, so there can be no misunderstanding about what was said.

During the recorded conversation, Stuart also made comments about the quality of their door supplier/products, describing them as cheap and not good quality, and made comments about being sick of customers moaning.

These aren’t comments somebody has told me were made. I have the conversation recorded.

For somebody representing a company selling and fitting these products to speak this way about the products/supplier and complaining customers was astonishing to hear, particularly when we were simply trying to get a genuine problem with an elderly lady’s door resolved.

Since experiencing these problems, I’ve looked at their more recent reviews and found other customers describing similar issues involving doors, locks and difficulties getting faults dealt with after installation.

Had we realised the management had changed and seen the recent reviews beforehand, we would never have gone back based purely on the reputation and good service we remembered from years ago.

After being customers for around 10 years, it’s incredibly disappointing to see how much our experience of this company has changed.

I could not recommend Trade Glaze under its current management based on our experience.

We are still giving them the opportunity to repair the door properly or agree suitable compensation. If they refuse, we are prepared to pursue the matter through the County Court small claims process.

I am also happy to provide a copy of the recording privately to anyone experiencing similar problems with Trade Glaze if it is relevant and may assist them with their own complaint or case.

I will update this review with exactly how Trade Glaze chooses to deal with the matter

Avoid

Tried many attempts to ask trade glaze to look at an issue with an installation of theirs. Kept chasing. Phoned. Emailed. No shows. Weeks passed. Provided times/dates that we were free. Nothing. They said they’d have to charge us if they came out to inspect and then radio silence.

Ripped off my parents

Trade Glaze installed a conservatory for my parents in September 2025. The work was completely unsatisfactory, the conservatory leaks, my parents were not given the roof they requested and the end wall cladding does not comply with building and fire safety regulations. Trade Glaze have refused to engage with any aftercare even after other professionals recommended they come to fix the damage they had caused. My parents are continuing to pursue legal action however have not had a response from the company. My parents are vulnerable, my dad is a stroke survivor and my mum is his full time carer. It is vile that they are being taken advantage of and treated in this way. Stay away from this company at all costs.

I employed Tradeglaze Maidstone after they were…

I employed Tradeglaze Maidstone after they were recommended by our good friends.
Our friends and 2 other members of their family had used Tradeglaze Maidstone several years ago, and had received excellent after sales service.
we made contact with Tradeglaze Maidstone requested a visit.
We were asked by Mr and Mrs Hewitt how we had heard of them, we gave our friends names and they gave other details of their installs so we were confident we were using the same people.
Unfortunately we found out the hard way that the Hewitt's only took over Tradeglaze on the 21st June 2021.
To say we did not receive the standard of care and consideration that our friends received is a very big understatement.
Our order was changed without our consent.
The two door side panels were changed.
We were missing items such as a letterbox and the same locks on both front doors to make opening easier.
We were missing our 90 degree door stay .
The wrong glass was fitted in hallway ( we did agree to keep this )
I paid the balance on 14th June which took my total to nearly £11000, as I had spoken to Stuart Hewitt on that day and he had promised to look into our issues.
He said he had ordered the missing door stay, and I should let him know as soon as it arrived.
He told me his fitter would be straight out to fit it.
I told him on the 15th June that it had arrived.
Nothing heard from Stuart regarding fitting.
Chased him up by message again on 20th June and had a blunt message saying fitter would be around that afternoon.
Fitter came but said Stuart had ordered the wrong stay as it was for a UPV door and not a composite door.
He said he had told Stuart what he needed to order but Stuart had ignored him. A very moody and rude visit. i waited a few days expecting Stuart to contact me and apologise and arrange fitting of the correct door stay.
Unfortunately we had not heard anything by the next week.
I emailed Stuart listing all of our complaints and received a very rude reply stating I only had 5 days to complain as it stated in his terms and conditions, and it had now been 2 weeks.
He ignored the fact that I had been trying to deal with one of the many issues since I made full payment on the 13th June.
Our composite front door was unusable by my 83 year old mother who has lived with us for 3 years , due to the tiny thumbturn fitted by Tradeglaze and the lack of any other knob or handle.
We made Stuart aware of this but were ignored.
A few weeks after the install my wife also started having issues opening the front door.
It kept sticking and even visiting relatives needed help opening it.
This was again raised to Stuart as a potential fire risk .
We have a severely disabled adult son and my 83 year old mum who is crippled with arthritis.
We were ignored again.
After 5 months of constant complaining and threatening with court ( including emailing Assure several times ) Stuart sent a fitter to repair the front door.
Unfortunately despite the promises that all the issues with the door would be addressed, we still did not receive the door stay ordered and paid for in June. All other issues have been dismissed by Stuart and Sharon Hewitt.
I have paperwork to prove all of our claims. I sent photos with my emails.
They denied receiving my letters ( including a letter before court ) despite them being sent special delivery at a cost of £7.95 each.
We even had photos of the letters on their office desk.
We have been treated with contempt.
We have never received any form of apology for any of the issues we have had.
I have asked for proof of their claims many times but unsurprisingly it never materialises.
I would advise taking caution if using this company.
We are looking at taking them to court, as 7 month's after I paid Tradeglaze in full, we have still not received everything we ordered and paid for.
They are ignoring my emails again and it is obvious they have no intention of fulfilling our order .
They certainly have no intention of putting any of the discrepancies right.
They also used photos of our property on their Facebook page calling us satisfied customers. My 83 year old mother is still unable to open our front door, and my wife has had to ask me to open it for her on several occasions. This poses serious safety issues if we were to have a fire.

Very Poor Aftercare

Had patio door and Bi-folds fitted October 2023 by Trade Glaze.
Have had an issue with Patio door not locking and contacted company was told not able to get anyone out and couldn’t give us a date any time soon to resolve issue .
Apparently they do not employ anyone to deal with problems that occur after work completed and they had fitters that were on a job that could take months !
When questioned about the security issues that this entailed The owners wife who answers the phone got very defensive and accused me if being rude although I had not raised my voice
I suggested we had the work done ourselves and sent the bill to them in view of the security issue but they declined this saying our guarantee would be void
I asked to speak to Stuart the owner and the phone was put down
Absolutely abysmal customer aftercare
Avoid at all costs .

Appalling service

This is a family run business who promise high quality products and service. Problems started when the fitters turned up to find the measurements taken by the managing director were incorrect requiring the builder to add another row of bricks which had a knock on issues. Apparently not the first time measurements have been wrong. Once installed the doors looked fine but we soon experienced issues with excessive condensation. The owner of the business was keen to distance himself from the problem and even made threats. This firm are akin to a poor second hand car dealership. All smiles till they get your money then have no interest in sorting problems. AVOID.
