Trade Winds Fruit Avis 20

I ordered over $100 of rare tropical fruit tree seeds from Trade Winds. I took them to Cambodia. Not one seed germinated. I will never order from them again.

I absolutely love this store....

Been buying from them for a while now and I have never had an issue with germination, I love the packaging used and appreciate how fast the items are shipped.

I've purchased from others as well but always seem to come back to this store. The website is simple and easy to use and the variety is amazing. I've started sharing the site with others who also seem to have the same sentiment about this store

I've order seeds twice now from trade winds and had only one seed germinate and thereafter die. I will not trust them again.

Poor conditions have a greater effect on seed germination than the site.
The site is excellent.

Lycianthes moziniana - germinated.
Solanum glaucescens - Cuatomate - germinated.
Physalis peruviana - Cape Gooseberry - germinated
Cyphomandra abutiloides - Dwarf Tamarillo - germinated.
4 types of hot peppers germinated and have been living for over 3 years.

I also had failures, but it was my fault. If you order exotic plants, take care of the conditions for them

I’ve ordered extensively (at least a couple hundred dollars and probably 50 or more seed packets) and come to rely on trade winds fruit as my main, tried and true source for seeds. They are always timely and I’ve been happy with everything that I’ve gotten. Everything has been fresh unlike other places that have sent me petrified seeds that crumble if you look at them wrong. One of the best places to get seeds with great prices for tropicals (and I’ve scoured the entire interwebz). They have the best and most unique palm seeds available and I particularly enjoy the already sprouting seeds that are packed quite nicely.

I’ve been doing business with this company consistently for years now and they’ve always been great. Shipping is prompt on their end, the orders are correct, and the seeds are clean and healthy and are what they say they are, something I take seriously since I make a living growing and installing plants for food forests and edible landscaping. The wide and exotic selection lets me give clients more interesting choices and that gets them more engaged with their gardens. As far as germination, these seeds are not like the hardware store petunias that have been bred for the gardener for 100 years. Some naturally have lower germination rates. Some have particular environmental needs, especially with temperature. Some take their sweet time and won’t come up for six months or more. And some will shoot up right away and happily grow with no effort. That’s the nature of exotics. Tradewinds has put a lot of effort into providing good sprouting information on their site and seed packets and are happy to answer legit questions, and of course Google is your friend. After racking up some experience and learning to follow directions and not “experiment” I can get a pretty decent germ rate now so it can be done. Give them a try if you’re bored with the standard seed choices.

I ordered a handful of seeds (A pouteria, a eugenia, and some annonas), and they arrived in good condition.
Trade Winds Fruit were very nice to deal with, and I emailed them about a curiosity I had with my seeds. The response was polite and informative.
Although they do have a reputation for not always having the freshest seeds, I am nonetheless satisfied with my order.
They have a great selection of seeds, and I am soon to make another order. Would Recommend!

I ordered weeks ago and the parcel seems to be blocked in the US. I wrote to them to have some news and they don’t answer. They don’t care about their customers. I spent 100$ but it’s the last time!!

Scammer Alert 🚨 - DO NOT BUY

I paid them for Sapphire Tower seeds several years ago, the plants are blooming now and they are not Sapphire Tower plants but Puya Mirabilis. It will take me years to buy and grow new seeds to the age where they will flower again.

I've been nothing but happy with this company! There was a small problem on my seat order and I asked for them to send one just in regular mail because I didn't need it right away but they practically overnighted it. Their prices are great and their services great.

I have ordered a lot of seeds from this company and have had a lot of seeds germinate. They clearly label the seed packets with germination instructions and care after they sprout. I appreciate the variety they offer and the ultra-rare seeds from all over the world has been so much fun with the challenge of growing in Ga, USA.

UPDATE
I got everything except 1 seed type to germinate as of 9/21 - almost a month later after planting. Turns out some of them took basically a few different science experiments of sorts with different conditions to germinate. What got them there was keeping them inside under grow lights 12 hrs a day, ample tray of water and lastly, plastic wrapping the top of the seed pots to create an almost greenhouse environment. Still took weeks for some but was pretty happy to finally see my Ashwaganda germinate after I think 2 weeks of those conditions. Keeping them outside did not germinate anything. Bummed my 1 seed type didn't germinate but I also don't know if that's a me problem. Seeds are tiny, either they fell out of the original packaging or the 1 seed that was left just hasn't germinated yet.

Original Review: Ordered a bunch of seeds and tried all sorts of different germination methods inside and outdoors to get them to germinate and none have sprouted. Disappointing and won't buy from them again.

Zero stars. Not a single one of their seeds sprouted. I bought 6 different packets of seeds and not one seed sprouted. I was already suspicious when I received the order and on each of the packages it states that it can take more than 6 months for seeds to sprout. I grow my entire garden from seeds each year so it's not my first time growing seeds. You have better odds buying the tropical fruits and sowing those seeds.

Clearly I wasted my money here. I have planted several seeds and have had zero germinate. My Walmart and dollar tree seeds have sprouted and in some cases harvested along with dozens of seeds from other sources, but not even a hint of life from these.

I ordered Siling Labuyo peppers and the 4 plants that I propagated from the seeds that they sent were not Siling Labuyos. They should be very hot peppers that grow upwards, not down like traditional peppers. All peppers on the 4 plants grow down and they are not very hot. I would be happy to post photos, but I do not see the option. Do not buy from this company, they can't be trusted.

I've ordered seeds from Tradewinds about 6 times and I have always received my order. I live in NZ so if the info isn't correct my seeds will be confiscated - that has never happened with Tradewinds orders. A very small proportion haven't germinated which I'd expect from any seed.

Some seeds germinated but not a single one of the pdm i ordered did, with how many i ordered at least one should have popped. Company doesnt respond to emails so i feel lucky i had some of the others i got germinate at least. Be aware!!!!!!!

Very bad👎order and paid my seeds on the 17 of September and so far nothing I wrote them about it and they told me the post office has issues, but in the meantime I already received 4 packages from USA so that was a big fat lie, be careful they take your money and don't deliver 🤬😡

I've bought seeds from this company several times now and they've never disappointed. The website is full of good information, shipping is fast, the orders are always correct and the seeds are of good quality, clean and healthy. That kind of business professionalism gets harder to find every day. And icing on top, they have a big selection of hard to find and unusual seeds, especially tropicals, at a reasonable price. Often I'll see some super cool fruit tree seeds somewhere else with a crazy price tag, then come to Tradewinds and find it for half the price.

This is a seriously underrated seed company. Good prices for the amount of seed you get and free shipping over $25. Shipping was fast too. I have had low/no germination with an exotic variety but all garden seeds have been excellent. I also got a free seed variety with my last order which is a great surprise!
