Travstar Ripoff

I didn't realise Travstar was a booking agent. I booked tickets for the Gold Class rail from Kuranda back to Freshwater. When the email came back that the 'request' had been received. I sent an email to them immediately (6 mins from booking) to cancel the request as I would book directly instead. A booking had not been processed at this stage just a request. Two days later, I received an email confirming my ticket purchase. I resent the email to say that I had cancelled the request, I was then refunded the purchase price less 30%!!! When I inquired about this, they essentially indicated that it was just bad luck, as it was in their conditions. I had already purchased from the railway directly, and Travstar had cancelled our tickets, so I ended up paying $70 more than I needed to. Don't use this operator!!

I shared the cancellation email with Jodie on July 8 @ 12:53pm. It should be on your system.

Thank you for the offer to use a voucher but I wouldn't trust using Travstar after my experience and the response.

Your booking request for the Kuranda Scenic Rail was received on Sunday, July 6 at 3:42 PM, and it was confirmed within 5 minutes at 3:47 PM, with the confirmation email sent immediately after. Your payment was also processed at 3:48 PM. We have checked our records and unfortunately did not receive any cancellation email from you at that time.

Our cancellation policy, which is displayed during the booking process and in the confirmation email, states that cancellations made after confirmation are subject to a 30% non-refundable deposit. This amount is not lost, but credited toward a future booking with us.

We completely understand the confusion about booking directly versus through us, and we’re sorry this wasn’t clear for you. Our goal is always to make the process easy and transparent.

Be careful when using Travstar

Be careful when using Travstar. We booked the flyer to Fitzroy Island only to find out afterwards that the company who runs it had a 50% discount + locals discount at the time. Unfortunately, we paid full price through Travstar. It does not represent doing business in good faith.

I would recommend booking directly with suppliers instead of using Travstar as a middle man.

We came in on a cruise ship and found Travstar were extremely helpful with organising the times and pick-up for our Kuranda tour. We did the same experience as other cruise passengers but didn't pay the premium price the other passengers paid so we are verry happy :) Thanks Kelsi!

I booked my holidays with trevstar a…

I booked my holidays with trevstar a few times and was consistently very happy with customer service provided which is not happening very often with most travel agents.
Kelsi is an absolute legend goes above and beyond for you to get a best deal ever and save your travel dollars.
I will definitely come back and highly recommend to all my friends travelling to Cairns.

Kata Tjuta half day

We thought we booked a small half day sunrise tour to Kata Tjuta. We paid a premium for this. What we got was the standard mass AAT tour, available for 5% less on the AAT site. Travstar nominated pick up time was 30 minutes too early (ouch), although the small print did suggest checking the web site.

This is a dishonest company

This is a dishonest company. I accidentally booked the wrong day, and they did not refund the full amount even though i tried to cancel as soon as I realized the error just minutes later.

Travstar... a leading light for my travel

I couldn't go away without spreading the word about how good Travstar and in particular Kelsie are. They were a great assistance with information, booking and follow up for our recent trip to Cairns. Even when checking in at Kuranda Scenic Rail staff said 'oh Travstar are great which speaks volumes for their work. If you are looking for any travel assistance I commend Travstar to you

Outstanding service

Jodi and Kelsi have been absolute brilliant. From helping us pick the best suitable tours and suggesting restaurants etc not to miss while in Cairns to helping us reschedule everything when we had to postpone our trip at the last minute due to an emergency then helping rebook everything. The communication and response is top class and they have put in so much genuine care and effort to ensuring our trip is amazing. Their Service has been outstanding from the first phone call. Be Warned!

Be very wary of their booking site. You think you are booking a tour, you have selected a date and you load in your credit cards details; only to be told it's only a booking request. You then receive a quote for a different day and told the tour you selected was full. How can you initially select it if it is full. They totally ruined our chance to get to Fitzroy Island and they actually don't care about helping you.
