Having reviewed the matter fully, we would like to clarify some important points regarding your policy to provide additional context for readers.
During the setup of your policy, a recorded Compliance Call was completed where the information provided was confirmed with you. As part of this process, you were advised of your duty to ensure all information disclosed was complete and accurate, and that insurers may amend terms, premiums, or take further action if information later proves to be incorrect or incomplete.
At the point of sale, the claim dated 05/02/2026 was disclosed as a non-fault settled claim. Following inception, the insurer carried out routine validation checks through the CUE (Claims Underwriting Exchange) database and identified that the claim was still recorded as outstanding rather than settled non-fault. As a result, the insurer applied an additional premium to continue cover using the updated claims information.
We appreciate this situation may have been frustrating. However, based on the recorded information provided during the sales process and the insurer’s subsequent checks, we are satisfied the policy was processed correctly using the information disclosed at the time.

However, we must clarify that your review contains information which does not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding your policy. For transparency, and to assist other readers, we feel it is important to outline the factual position.
Following a review of your complaint, XYZ Insurance Services LTD can confirm that your policy was not cancelled due to a non-disclosed motor insurance claim, but rather due to an incorrectly disclosed motor insurance claim.
Prior to the inception of your policy, you completed a scripted Compliance Call. During this call, you were reminded of your duty to provide complete and accurate information and advised that failure to do so could result in additional premiums, fees, or cancellation of the policy. Please note that it is not the responsibility of XYZ Insurance Services LTD to independently verify the information provided before purchase; the responsibility rests with the policyholder to ensure all details disclosed are accurate and complete.
At the point of sale, you confirmed that you had been involved in a motor insurance claim dated 14/03/2023 and advised that the claim had been settled on a non-fault basis. Following the inception of the policy, the insurer carried out routine background checks using the CUE (Claims Underwriting Exchange) database. During these checks, it was identified that the claim dated 14/03/2023 had not been settled as non-fault and instead remained outstanding. As a result, the risk no longer met the insurer’s underwriting criteria.
Upon receiving this information, XYZ Insurance Services LTD acted promptly to contact you regarding the impending cancellation and also offered an alternative quotation with another insurer. You advised that you did not wish to proceed with the revised quotation offered.
We can further confirm that no refund is due under the terms applied to the policy and that XYZ Insurance Services LTD will not be offering any additional refund or resolution through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service.
Our governing body is the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), and XYZ Insurance Services LTD strictly adheres to the regulations set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Our FCA registration details can be viewed on our website.
We respectfully disagree with the suggestion that you were provided with deceptive insurance services by XYZ Insurance Services LTD.
