Ordered the premium Japan otoro

Ordered the premium Japan otoro. Was shipped timely, packaged properly, and arrived frozen solid and on time. However, maybe I just got a bad piece, but I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the fish. Not terrible, but just a below average piece of Toro with quite a few bites having a bit an intestinal/offal type flavor that was off putting. For roughly $150 a lb and it being their premium option, it was very underwhelming. I’ll look elsewhere for my next Toro purchase

Yama is the best.

Good sized Hamachi Kama with such succulent yellowtail. So tasty.

Hokkaido scallops are bad because they are so good that you can't eat any other scallops once you've enjoyed these....

I ordered my crab on December 23rd for…

UPDATE: Yama reached out and is shipping me a replacement for free, and was very responsive in their correspondence with me. Its great when a company will do what's right for their customers, and want to build that relationship with them. Improving my rating from 2 to 4 stars (can't give 5 since first order was delayed)

I ordered my crab on December 23rd for a party on New Years Eve out of town. It was supposed to be delivered on the 29th, in plenty of time for new years. I recieved notification on the 29th that my order was delayed. It was supposed to arrive on the 30th, so I rearranged my plans to leave town to wait for the order, and then was notified that it was delayed until the 31st, when I was out of town. I tried to re route the crab to the location I was going to, and it got re routed back to its original destination, and I didn't recieve the crab until Jan 2nd...and it was warm. Very disappointed in the response rate here, and I basically lost money on this. I will be finding somewhere else to purchase seafood.

Pricy for what shows up

Pricy for what shows up. I ordered sushi grade salmon and tuna. They came in the tiniest flattened pancake. They were about the size of my palm and maybe a 1/4" thick and were $25+ a piece! They say they supply Michelin restaurants but I've never been anywhere where the tuna and salmon were not blocks but pancakes. I also ordered shimaaji and kanpachi which were really fresh and large fillets BUT because they charge by weight, they charge an extra $43 catch weight just in case it's heavier than they expect. They did send me an updated invoice with the correct weights but I have yet to see it change on my credit card. Overall, disappointed but would probably still order again ONLY the harder to find cuts unless I find another place where I can order all the fish at the same time.

Our tuna and salmon are portioned by weight according to the website 0.4-0.6lb /pc, so sizes can vary depending on the cut.

For items sold by catch weight (like kanpachi and shima-aji), the final price is based on the actual packed weight. In your case, the catch-weight adjustment was removed from the final invoice, so you were not overcharged.

Fantastic quality, service and delivery

Fantastic quality fish, some of the best chu-toro I've ever had. Wonderful service, very helpful over the phone with defrosting instructions. Excellent delivery conditions/packaging/speed of shipping. Could not recommend more highly!

The Red Crab was fishy smelling and…

The Red Crab was fishy smelling and tasted bad. Had to throw it out.
Have not tried the snow crab and oysters yet.
