Lisbon, Porto, and the Douro Valley
AHI travel directors and partner cruise line did a good job. The food and wine were fine but not as delicious as previous AHI trips. The tours were interesting but we felt there was too much time spent on buses, which was not expected. (One ride was two hours one way.) We liked the built-in free time, so we saw a lot of Lisbon and Porto on our own. The scheduled tours were limited to a small portion of the city.

The travel directors were fantastic professionals with great personalities
The travel directors were fantastic, Helpful, kind, professional and always willing to help even when I was a bonehead - running late and other rookie moves. I'm too afraid of forgetting someone so I'll leave it at that. AHI did a great job and I met people on the cruise who said they specifically chose AHI. Also heard that the buffet lines on Viking were a mess so kudos again for table service at dinner.

Seine river cruise
Travel Directors, itinerary and organization of tours, ship staff were wonderful. Preextension stay overpriced, hotel room needs to be ready on arrival, not 5 hours later. Ship needs an elevator and bathrooms need ventilation vents.

The tripwas exceptional
The trip was exceptional and varied, with time spent on the culture and recent history of the country, numerous safaris with lots of game siting's, and every detail was seen to. The three days on Rovos Rail was such a unique and wonderful experience. The Kapama River Lodge was beautiful, the food was excellent. The guides and trackers were extraordinary and the experience was a trip of a lifetime.
Travel both to and from the trip and travel during the trip was smooth. I received many communications and was fully informed on all details before arrival. The trip director was amazing - a wealth of knowledge and stories. He saw to every little detail.

Everything went smoothly
Everything went smoothly, including transitions and transportation. The hotel choices were elegant. All guides on the trip were quite knowledgable. Specifically, our tour director was amazing. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and went above and beyond!

South Africa Trip
Marc and all the guides were exceptional! The venues we stayed at were excellent. Marc kept us informed and knowledgeable about what to expect. The only thing I would change if possible would be to lessen the number of days on the Rovos Train

Honfleur trip
It was a wonderful trip. the only problems were with the airline in terms of canceling the flight and losing luggage but AHI can do nothing about that and was helpful above and beyond in dealing with the airline issues.
Teh Guide was excellent and all the arrangements were great.

Normandy
Every detail was carefully planned and executed. Our AHI Guide, Fred, is a true expert and you can tell that he loves this work. He was even up at 4:00 AM on departure day to load our bags on the bus.
What a hard worker.
I LOVED Honfleur. So glad we stayed there the entire week.
The hotel was very nice, although the room/bathroom were VERY small.
The hotel breakfast was very lovely every day.

Some positives, some negatives
The positives: the itinerary, hotel accommodations, our bus driver Aslan, the various local guides.
The negatives: our tour leader Coby. Yes, she was nice but that’s it. Why did you choose someone who isn’t Danish, doesn’t speak the language, doesn’t know the culture or know her way around (often asking “ where’s the entrance?”)? There is a country of 6 million Danes, most of whom speak English, so surely you could have found someone more qualified who had more to offer. On long rides, for example, she couldn’t offer any insights about what we were going to se or tidbits about daily life. Also since we only had 3 dinners included in the trip, she couldn’t offer suggestions of where to go when we were on our own. Thank god for the bus driver who knew his way around and was wonderfully knowledgeable. This is the most money I have ever spent on a trip, but between the lack of an educational component and the lack of dinners, I don’t think it was good value. This was my first trip with AHI and will be my last.

We've really enjoyed the two tours…
We've really enjoyed the two tours we've taken. In each we stayed a week in one "hub" city and took daily excursions to nearby cities or sites. We love not having to pack and unpack every day or two. The itineraries have been great, and the tour directors fantastic. Our only frustration has been with the arrangement of airline reservations. It would be easier for us to set up the flights on our own, but we want to utilize the hotel/airport transfers AHI offers without paying extra for those transfers.
