Making a payment is very frustrating not getting the message to confirm payment so I have to pay via revolut
Asked to raise the credit limit on my…
Asked to raise the credit limit on my visa card to make a specific payment but due to having exceeded my limit by 3% this month I was repeatedly told - I can put an application through but it will come back refused as you have exceeded your limit. Considering that the limit was set over 40 years ago and that the card has always been paid in full each month, I would have thought that even a one off increase should have been possible. Unfortunately, it was like speaking to a machine that had a list of questions and answers. First Trust were always able to arrange a one off substantial payment. Zero points for helpfulness aib!

The new app is a TOTAL DISASTER banking with them for 10byears because of the new app i was literally forced to open a bank of ireland account. Impossible the new app you can't find your card details anymore and anywhere in the app,if you make a transfer they ask 3 different security regulations ridiculous one is face biometric and pin you can't find anything in the app horrible literally horrible
Very poor customer service and no…
Very poor customer service and no effective communication
I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from AIB. The customer service was very poor, the staff member who dealt with me appeared inadequately trained, and I was given little to no useful information about my problem.
I contacted AIB because I only wanted to correct my name on my payment card, as it is literally spelled incorrectly. The staff member who assisted me told me that this could not be done and that I would have to wait for the issue to be resolved.
It has now been more than two weeks, and nobody from AIB has contacted me regarding this matter. I still cannot use my card, my account/funds are effectively restricted, and I am unable to access and use my own money normally.
What is particularly frustrating is the complete lack of communication. I should not have to repeatedly chase a bank simply to correct an error on my payment card. I find it unacceptable that a bank of AIB’s size cannot resolve such a basic issue or even provide its customer with an update.
I expected much better from AIB. The service I have received so far has been extremely disappointing, and I hope this matter is finally taken seriously and resolved without any further delay.
I had a great customer service…
I had a great customer service experience today with AIB home insurance. Last week I spoke to someone who was not as helpful. It makes a huge difference.
absolutely HORRIBLE
absolutely HORRIBLE. Everything has to have a double ended meaning or loophole with this bank. I wish I picked bank of Ireland over AIB. The aib app is constantly down and unnecessarily difficult to log into. They not only require you to scan your passport about a million times but they want you to take a selfie that DOES NOT EVEN WORK HALF THE TIME!!!!!! I’m so fed up with this bank and the amount they charge for such a bad experience is disgraceful. They are backwards and not modern at all.
I wouldn’t even give it one star
I wouldn’t even give it one star. Went into the aib bank to discuss an issue with my loan. Put me on to the phone with one of the loan team and he sounded absolutely intoxicated. Barely able to string a sentence together and unable to respond back to me when I asked questions. Completely unacceptable behaviour. I have still not sorted my issue. Terrible customer service

I reviewed this App previously and rated it a one star. After a time wasted morning today trying multiple times to confirm my home delivery Tesco grocery shopping payment on the AIB App, it was so unresponsive that my payment kept timing out on the Tesco side, it is beyond frustrating and If I could rate it a zero at this moment, I'd do so.
I would give a 0 if there’s an option!
I would give a 0 if there’s an option!
This bank is an absolute nightmare!
Opened the bank account end of July online verify by the agent on the video call and I’ve been told I don’t need to do anything else just wait for the paperwork by post!
2,5 weeks later went to the branch in Clane and asked to have a look at it because I didn’t receive anything by post or email whatsoever.
The very rude man at the desk said my account is never been opened because I have to identify myself and he wants a proof of address too!
I have asked why the bank didn’t send me anything regarding this issue he is became very rude and keep over talking me and trying to make me feel stupid as he said I definitely receive the email as they always send out!
When I said 3-4 times I didn’t receive anything he’s became even more rude so I just said cancel the account and I’m going to another bank!
Very rude customer service no wonder why they have only 1* reviews!
Avoid 💯
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Doesn't care anything about customers. Was a loyal customer for 25 years, but they dont care and only care about money. Complete disregard for humans.
Very incompetent.
Very incompetent.
Service and technology stuck in 1990s.
Your `new app` looks like it was vibe coded on a college campus with outdated Claude model.
The `app` offers 0 functionality.
Crazy to think this is a leading banking institution in one of worlds richest countries. Absolute disgrace what a circus we live on.
Will be closing my account soon.
Recently called AIB fraud reporting…
I recently contacted the AIB fraud reporting team to block my card after I became concerned that a transaction I had made might have been part of a scam.
Instead of feeling reassured and supported during what was already a stressful situation, I received a lengthy lecture that came across as condescending and patronising. Throughout the call, I was repeatedly told, “Can I speak now?” and even, “Do I have your permission to speak now?”, while being accused of interrupting. I did not feel that reflected how the conversation had gone, and I found those remarks unnecessarily rude and dismissive.
I repeatedly asked a specific question about Apple Pay and how I could know whether my card details had been stored if I had never manually entered them or selected any option to save them. Rather than answering my question directly, the agent continued to repeat generic fraud-prevention advice, which left me feeling that my actual concern was not being understood.
This was a fraud-related call, and I expected empathy, patience, and clear guidance. Instead, I came away feeling guilty, belittled, and as though my questions were unwelcome. To add to my confusion, the agent suggested using Revolut’s disposable virtual cards, which seemed unusual when speaking on behalf of AIB.
I appreciate that fraud teams deal with difficult situations every day, but customers who call because they fear they have been scammed need reassurance and respectful communication. My experience fell well below those expectations.

A company took money out of my AIB account without my consent 'I tried to stop it' the bank said they couldn't do it anyway 'if only after 2 weeks they would help me somehow,'

Just seen they taken 6 euros and will continue to do so as a charge on my current account. Will be moving my euros to revolut. They pay little to no interest on savings and trying to transfer money is like squeezing money from a stone. Stay away from this 'bank'
As typical of things in Ireland
As typical of things in Ireland, anything that CAN go wrong WILL go wrong, with a nasty bidi behind the counter to shite on you as the cherry on top. Time and time again. Its the irish way. This bank gives zero interest on your money, neither does any other irish bank. The staff are obnoxious and rood AF. Their bank app is extremely buggy and requires reinstall and whole process of using some card reader to install it on the phone again after they "update" it. When they say update they mean bombard you with AI adds that you dont want. This bank has wasted tonnes of my time with its stupid app, rood unhelpful staff who go out of their way to abuse you. Also they dont give any loans unless youre already rich enough to not need a loan in the first place. The bank caters only to the wealthy clique who hijacked this country and SHITS on everyone else, especially if they are male or native irish. The staff seem to suffer from amnesia and an uncontrollable urge to abuse customers on the phone. If you phone them and an irish woman answers the phone just hang up, she will do nothing for you and will insult and threaten and lecture you so its better to hang up. I would not use this bank but in ireland there is no competition in the bank system so you are stuck with 3 VERY CORRUPT AND INCOMPETENT AND ABUSIVE rigged banks where the state goons manually approve every one of your transactions. Shopping online is a nightmare as is getting refunds coz they take a very long amount of time to do even simple things with the account. DONT USE THIS BANK if you have an option not to. This bank is not a real bank, it is a clique for goons and state intel agencies to monitor the finances of the general public and abuse them all day long at the same time, just as the gardi do, just as the health service does, just as the council does, etc, provide a shit service which you pay through the nose for and get abused on top of that. Its the run away west brit east american clique who live in disney land where they can abuse the public with impunity and their system is on the way out , its going extinct, and they are nervous about it so they hate the people even more. DONT USE THIS "BANK", its not a real bank, its more of a monitoring and abuse institution.
I tried to close my credit card and…
I tried to close my credit card and current account but I had to pay the stamp duty of my credit card after the fact and they have the worst system to do so. On the phone for hours, getting transferred through to the wrong lines to pay it. Just keep telling me about their new app & using a terrible AI agent. Only for me to pay the fee but they sent it back due to them not telling me the correct amount to pay. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Standing in a que in Rathgar always…
Standing in a que in Rathgar always only 1 teller on. They do not care about their customers
AIB and Snyk
I wrote to AIB, to look for assurances that if AIB is using Snyk (a company started by 4 ex Israeli military intelligence personnel), that my account information would be safe and not compromised. I was told that AIB do not comment on individual suppiers. (so mind my own business). I have minded my own business and am moving my business and personal account elsewhere. I am concerned that AIB cannot or will not assure their long-standing customers, that their accounts are not at risk through exposure to a company set up by a firm with ties to Israeli military intelligence. Every customer should be concerned
Don't expect flexibility in return for loyalty
*UPDATE*
After making a formal complaint this was resolved in 24 hours.
I've been a loyal customer since I was a child. I've been let down multiple times by AIB, but today was by far the biggest disappointment.
Today I was meant to transfer the deposit for my first home.
Unfortunately I saved my deposit in an online notice account, which I had never withdrawn from in the years I've had it. Of course I signed up for this account and agreed to Ts&Cs - but I was still surprised that they wanted a full 7 days. "No worries, just talk to a human and they will help you out" said my mum who used to work for AIB. So I called customer service. First I was just given a no. Then the agent in Savings agreed to escalate my issue and she filled out a request for the notice to be shortened. She just called me back - I will still have to wait 3 business days. There is only 1 day difference between 7 days and 3 business days. What was the point of that?
In the next 25 years I will pay €240,000 in interest to AIB.
But in this one time that I need someone to go an extra step and help me out - I may as well forget about it.
AiB held onto bereaved funds for 26 yrs…
AIB contacted me using a 13 year old address to tell me about a dormant account of my late father who died 26 years ago! They propose paying only a nominal interest when the funds should have accumulated several thousands. Blame lies with executors, they say. But AIB were informed of the death by solicitors and had neglected to follow up for some 23 years. Maladministration? Avoid and be wary!
