The gym is general clean and tidy with good staff and equipment but the manager is completely untrustworthy! The owner supports his bad behaviour so is personally stay well clear.

Great customer service, equipment in good condition. Open 24/7, air conditioning, a free water fountain. All in all a great experience.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The gym is never over-crowded, which means that you can get a good workout without interruptions. The changing room facilities are clean. All equipment are well maintained and looked after. The temperature of the gym is also well regulated. Overall, a top experience.

I was a member of the Anytime Fitness Dorchester gym for around eight years but recently decided to leave. Unfortunately, the membership price no longer reflected the standard of service and facilities being provided.
Exercise classes were often cancelled at very short notice with spurious reasons given, and I often found the attitude of some staff towards customers dismissive or rude. On occasions, instructors appeared to expect paying customers to sweep or clean the training rooms after sessions, which I did not consider appropriate.
Security was also a concern. In my experience, non-members were regularly allowed into the premises, and I was warned by a fellow customer from attending late at night due to people, apparently homeless, sleeping inside the gym foyer overnight. This made me question how effectively access to the building was being controlled.
Although the general cleaning was usually acceptable, wider maintenance appeared poor. I witnessed repeated problems with exercise bikes, including pedals coming loose or falling off while being used at high cadence. These incidents created a serious safety concern and, to my knowledge, some customers were injured.
I also had concerns about the gym’s approach to obtaining online reviews. Members were sometimes offered incentives, such as a month’s free membership, in return for leaving a Google review. In my opinion, this raises an ethical concern because prospective customers may assume that reviews were given independently, without any reward being offered.
After eight years of membership, it was disappointing to leave with such a negative impression. The gym could improve significantly by reviewing its pricing, customer service, access controls, class cancellation procedures, equipment maintenance and approach to encouraging online reviews.

Two treadmills inoperative. One treadmill half serviceable. The stairs machine inoperative.
This is just the same as when I last joined some 6 months ago.
The staff are great but say they can not get the support from head office .

Honestly a really nice gym to workout in, amazing facilities very clean, a big standout for me is that it’s not to busy you can genuinely workout at anytime without having to wait for machines to be free, staff are also incredibly welcoming, would highly recommend

Staff are great, helpful, respectful and friendly. Some machines are not in the best of condition but functional. 95% of equipment are fit for purpose.

For me, it's the best one i have joined. I've been a member of some nice gyms in town but AF is the most efficient one. Gym is cleam, water dispenser is decent and you can get to have your own privacy in the bathroom after shower which i think is one of the selling point and my PT he is the best!

Cancelling was a nightmare. Gave written notice by email in February, which the gym acknowledged and confirmed termination. Cancelled my direct debit as I'd paid everything owed under the notice period.

The gym then continued charging, added late fees for failed direct debits, and ignored my emails asking for a breakdown of what I supposedly owed. When I tried to cancel through their website, it wouldn't let me proceed without reinstating the DD and paying the disputed amount first.

I contacted them directly in April offering to pay whatever I legitimately owed. No response. They passed the account to a debt collection agency instead.

A £55 monthly membership turned into a £200 collections demand because the gym refused to engage with a straightforward question: what do I actually owe? Their own T&Cs and their own emails confirm I owed one month. They chased me for two plus late fees.

The gym itself was fine. The cancellation process is designed to make leaving as difficult and expensive as possible.

Progressively getting worse I have been a founder member . Now some lights not working in showers , they leak and smell . Water filter only just changed on red last 7 months . 3 rd shower not worked for last 4 yrs . No paper rolls on any stations for wiping down equipment . Work out program on screen not working .. Not staffed very often in the last 4 months .

I am extremely disappointed by the appalling way **Anytime Fitness West Hendon** has handled my membership cancellation.

On **21 February 2026**, I informed the club that I was due to undergo surgery and was explicitly assured that my membership had been cancelled. I relied on that assurance. Instead, I was shocked to receive debt collection letters for alleged outstanding membership fees.

To make matters worse, after the business publicly replied to my previous Google review promising that someone would contact me within five days, absolutely no one did. That response now appears to have been nothing more than an empty promise.

Since February, I have sent numerous emails, made repeated phone calls, requested multiple callbacks from Munir, and even visited the gym on several occasions specifically to speak with him. Each time, he avoided speaking with me or failed to return my calls. I have made every reasonable effort to resolve this matter privately, but the club has consistently ignored me.

As a direct result of the misinformation I was given and the club's complete failure to address my complaint, I now have only two days to deal with debt collectors over charges that should never have arisen in the first place.

This review is only the beginning of my account of how this complaint has been handled. Everything I have written is based solely on my personal experience and is supported by my communications and interactions with the club.
