Sunday was the best day yet on our 7-night Douro River cruise. From Lamego we went to the 17th Century Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies, where a choir was singing beautifully. Then we descended the 686 steps to the bottom, where we were treated to a local speciality, Bola de Lamego, and a glass of sparkling wine called Raposeira. Then the coach transported us to the Quinta de Pacheca, where we had a delicious 3-course lunch, matched with white,red and port. Back at the ship we had a yummy barbecue on the sun deck. Just a pity we had two big meals on the same day!

Both of the tour specialists Spencer 《Canada) and Helena (Holland America) were very helpful and considerate. They did their utmost with Spencer guiding the tour driver to pull over safely when we spotted bears. Incidentally, when it was raining g, the tour driver took off part of his evening to drive us to our restaurant in the evening. Spencer was very knowledgeable about his native country try and had a good sense of humour with some lovely Canadian record tracks we had never heard of before. The coach driver also gave us guests some additional information too. We saw some truly beautiful natural sights and will not forget this holiday of a lifetime.

This was our first coach travel touring holiday and it was one to remember. The APT organisation and logistics were absolutely spot on, the tour director and coach driver were excellent with nothing too much trouble. We will certainly use APT again if we were to choose a destination and type of holiday they provide.

We did the same trip with APT some 6/7 years ago.There are definitely cut backs in comparing the two cruises. The entertainment which had been varied and professional was now reduced to the same guitarist every night with his wife a supposed singer.The excursions were very much the same each day lacking imagination and variety. The highlight was the concert in Vienna.
The food was good apart from the soup. The French onion soup-oh dear!

The service was excellent - personal and efficient - from booking to disembarkation. Caledonian Sky was a beautiful base for exploring the Adriatic with friendly, hard-working crew and a lovely group of passengers.

We booked the Danube cruise starting on1st May. We were lucky enough to sail on the APT Solara which was on it’s maiden voyage. The ship was clean and pristine and the seating and furniture were all nice and new.
We couldn’t believe how quiet and smooth the ship was, at times we thought we were stationary yet looking out of the balcony window we could see we were moving.

The room was spotless when we arrived the bed in particular was very comfortable and the shower nice and hot and had a good head. My wife enjoyed the bow camera on the large tv showing the front of the boat. There were issues with the news channel and film channels which either pixelated or showed a completely different film from the one selected, so there were technical issues.There were two things that need changing for the room, the rubbish bin was far to small and the pillows on the bed were odd one very large one and then a really tiny one.

The staff were all very professional, polite and always helpful they literally couldn’t do enough for you, particularly in the restaurants and housekeeping. At this point we have to mention Roland Noordermer the cruise director who was absolutely brilliant , friendly , helpful and so knowledgeable about the areas we were travelling through.

Due to the fact that I had just had an operation only a few days prior to travelling , we opted out of some of the excursions, which wasn’t a problem. Staying on board was nice and relaxing and I quite enjoyed the quiet ride down the Danube.

The last evening cruise on the Danube in Budapest was amazing with all the buildings lit up and a good selection of music from Roland is not to be missed.

One issue that needs addressing regarding the restaurants is the limited menu. We had informed APT prior to travelling that my wife was dairy free which included beef and due to my operation, I was on a low fat diet. Every meal involved beef of one sort or another even the alternatives offered were a beef burger or cheese burger. Most of the cakes or desserts were cream based in one form or another. Most days we ended up with fresh fruit so very little alternatives for us. There was fish on the menu, but very little other choice. We feel there needs to be greater options for people with food allergies.

Overall the cruise, ship and staff were superb everything was well organised including transfers to and from the ship. We would thoroughly recommend APT cruises.

My first experience of APT on a Douro cruise and I was very disappointed as it didn't really meet expectations of a luxury brand. The location of the berth in Porto was very inconvenient with a long walk from the bus to the boat including along the sea wall, though a narrow gate, down a steep ramp which caused many people to feel unsafe and across a floating pontoon which disorientated many guests. The food was average and the dining room was very cramped. Cruise Director was vague almost to the point of unhelpful with a general lack of information. Definitely not what I was expecting for the money and I will not use APT again. What a disappointment.

Having used APT previously and were very happy with the experience, we decided to embark on a tour of Japan with APT. We were very much looking forward to the tour and exploring Japan even though we thought it a very expensive holiday, however as it was advertised as luxury we felt reassured from our previous experiences with APT. Overall our experience wasn’t luxury due to inconsistency in hotels and meals. We did enjoy our holiday and were determined to make the most of our tour of Japan. We
Did convey how we felt to our tour guide at the end of the holiday. Also on arrival back to London Heathrow the transport did not arrive for our return journey home. APT are currently dealing with this issue.

The power cut in Portugal and Spain caused serious disruption to the cruise. Only three days of the cruise were completed according to the itinerary. While APT could not be blamed for this, the holiday we experienced was disappointing. Communication between passengers and staff broke down. The staff seemed unprepared for a problem of this type, unsure how to present information or keep the holiday spirit alive other than to keep glasses of wine full at meal times. A review of emergency procedures might help.

Everyone involved in travel marvel team are excellent. They’re all professional with their job.
We had a great time in all the tour. The tour guides are very knowledgeable with their designated topics.
The foods are excellent and the guests are well informed with the itinerary and the tour.

The travelling to the boat and the journey home was long and tiring
Once on board everybody tried really hard and we’re friendly
Unfortunately there was no dress code on board and shorts jeans trainers and sandals at dinner and even at the Concert were not my idea of a cruise
However the guided tours were very good and the Guides excellent
Our French balcony window with interrupted views was disappointing as we travelled mostly at night and when docked we usually alongside other boats so no views at all
With the exception Bratislava Passau and Budapest which were lovely.
The Meals were ok Breakfast not so good but Lunch and Dinner good, you had to be Quick to get a seat and it was somewhere different every time
Overall we enjoyed it especially the concert. We probably will stick to the sea cruises in future as value for money is marginally better

It's our second APT river cruise having done the Mekong 18 months ago.
The trip was very well organised and professional from start to finish.

The trip was excellent, efficiently managed throughout, and the staff from the cruise director to the cleaners were all helpful, very pleasant and seemed happy to be working there. The food was excellent and the excursions / city visits were all enjoyable.

Boat was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful and meals were delicious.
