The way yall have treated me is why I’m leaving this 5 star review. I was wary about ordering online and my first time ordering with your company and it was very good service but most of all the batana is exactly how it should be - the smell was raw strong burnt smell that is talked about on online videos . Thank you for selling the real thing . Also i encourage others to keep in hair - I didn’t wash out and kept for at least 3-4 days in hair like I use coconut oil too

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this thoughtful review. We truly understand the hesitation that can come with ordering online for the first time, especially with a product like batana oil where authenticity matters. Hearing that your experience was positive from start to finish means a great deal to us.

We’re especially grateful that you recognized the authenticity of the batana oil itself. That natural, strong, roasted aroma you mentioned is exactly what real, traditionally prepared batana oil smells like, and it’s one of the clearest signs that it hasn’t been diluted, deodorized, or altered. We take a lot of pride in offering batana oil in its true, raw form.

Your trust in our sourcing and quality standards is something we never take lightly. In a space where there is a lot of misinformation and imitation, our goal has always been to provide the real thing and to be transparent with our customers about what they’re receiving.

We also appreciate you sharing how you personally use the oil. Leaving it in the hair for several days, similar to how many people use coconut oil, aligns with traditional use and is something many customers find beneficial for moisture and scalp care. Experiences like yours help others feel more confident in trying it for themselves.

Thank you again for your support, your honesty, and your encouragement to others. Reviews like this reinforce why we do what we do, and we’re truly grateful to have you as part of our community.

Like many of us who have been

Like many of us who have been burned by bad sellers and dishonest companies, I too was skeptical when trying to purchase this oil that many have been talking about. I read as much as I could about Batana Oil and to the point that my wife was worries how much time I was spending reading about this. I read Wikipedia articles, and NCBI articles. I was most impressed by this company and as soon I removed the seal I could tell I lucked out and got the real oil. I compared this to everything I’ve read - consistency , color , smell and taste. Although not advised - it is also used by Hondurans in cooking ! I will forever vouch for this company and am a forever customer. Customer service answered all my questions and I swear I sent at least 15 just to buy 1 oil but now you have gained a forever customer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. Your experience truly means a lot to us—especially knowing how much research you put in before making your decision. We completely understand the skepticism, given how many people have been disappointed by inauthentic batana oil in the past, so hearing that you recognized the authenticity immediately upon opening the seal is incredibly validating.

Your attention to the details—consistency, color, smell, and even taste—speaks volumes, and it’s clear you took the time to understand what real, traditionally made batana oil should be. You’re absolutely right that in Honduras, batana oil has a long history of traditional use beyond hair care, and we appreciate you highlighting that cultural context as well.

We’re also grateful for your patience (and enthusiasm!) in reaching out with so many questions before purchasing. Our team is always happy to help, and we’re glad we could earn your trust. Thank you for vouching for us and for being part of our community—we’re honored to have you as a lifelong customer.

I used to purchase Batana Oil directly from Honduras however this stopped due to tarrifs. I then found Batana Babe and have been using them ever since. It is exactly similar to how I remember it. My only request is that they have other sizes available. For my type of hair I generally use more than 4 oz in a month and would love if you had more options.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience — it truly means a lot to us. Hearing from someone who has firsthand experience sourcing batana oil directly from Honduras is incredibly validating, and we’re honored that Batana Babe lives up to the quality and authenticity you remember.

Tariffs and changing trade regulations have made it increasingly difficult for individuals to access true batana oil from its source, which is exactly why we remain committed to preserving its integrity while making it more accessible. Knowing that our oil matches the scent, texture, and performance you’re familiar with reassures us that our sourcing and processing standards are staying true to tradition.

We also really appreciate your honesty regarding sizing. Your feedback is completely valid, especially for those with thicker, longer, or higher-porosity hair who rely on batana oil as a regular part of their routine. Using more than 4 oz per month is common for many of our customers, and your insight helps reinforce that need.

Please know that expanding our size offerings is something we actively discuss and evaluate. Community feedback like yours directly influences our decisions, and requests for larger or alternative sizes are taken very seriously as we plan future product updates.

Thank you again for your trust, your loyalty, and for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We’re grateful to have you as part of the Batana Babe community, and we’re excited to continue growing and improving with customers like you guiding the way.

Thank you so much for sharing this — your message truly means more to us than we can express. Knowing that our Batana Shampoo played such an important role in supporting your hair health, especially during thinning, is incredibly powerful feedback and not something we take lightly.

We completely understand how upsetting it can be to find something that genuinely works, only for it to no longer be available. Hair thinning can be deeply personal and frustrating, and hearing that our formula made a real difference for you reinforces why we created it in the first place.

Please know that the decision to pause the shampoo was not due to lack of love or demand. Messages like yours — passionate, honest, and heartfelt — are exactly what we share internally when discussing future restocks and reformulations.

Your voice matters, and you are absolutely not alone in this request. We’ve heard similar sentiments from others, and this kind of feedback strongly influences what we prioritize bringing back.

Thank you for taking the time to speak up and advocate not just for yourself, but for the wider community. We’re truly grateful for your support, and we hope to have good news to share in the future.

I bought the regular oil and the hair…

I bought the regular oil and the hair mask when it first came out (which is no longer so sale!!) and just started using both for about a month now. Honestly, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. I originally bought it because my hair had been feeling super dull from constant heat styling, and I kept seeing people rave about batana oil on tik tok. The first thing I noticed was the texture—it's rich but not heavy. I know its straight from the extract because there are nut remanants sometimes in the mixture. This is good for me to know but also at the same time a bit hard to put into my hair. The natural scent surprised me at first as its strong as described - so takes sometime getting used to. I would dilute it with lavender oil.

After the first week, I started using it as an overnight hair mask twice a week, and that’s when the magic happened. My ends, which were usually frizzy and breaking, started to look smoother and healthier. I also feel like my hair holds moisture way better now. Even on the days I don’t style it, it doesn’t puff out into that weird triangle shape it used to get. I can’t say it’s cured everything but it definitely made a noticeable difference faster than most oils I’ve tried.

I also started using a tiny bit on my eyebrows and the dry patches around my nose, and it’s been surprisingly mousitruzing. I love that it’s a single-ingredient product without all the fillers, because my skin breaks out at basically everything. It absorbs slower than lighter oils, but that actually works for me at night.

Overall, Batana Babes has earned a permanent in my routine for now. I feel like it gives my hair a softness and shine that I haven’t had in years, and it just feels good using something that’s simple and clean. I’m already planning to repurchase when I eventually run out. I also love the packaging as its sleek and fits in my tight apartment bathroom closet as i live in a small square foot apt in the city!

Réponse de Batana Oil - Made in Honduras

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed experience — reviews like yours genuinely help others understand what real, authentic batana oil is supposed to feel like, look like, and actually do for the hair. It means a lot that you tried both the regular oil and the hair mask when they first launched, especially since those early batches were crafted in small quantities. Hearing that you’ve been using them consistently for a month and already noticing meaningful changes is exactly why we work so hard to keep the product pure, unaltered, and true to its traditional form.

The mask will be back soon!!

You touched on something extremely important: the texture and natural remnants. Authentic batana oil — real extract, not diluted or refined — does sometimes contain small nut particles because it’s handmade from the raw palm fruit. Those subtle remnants are a sign that the oil hasn’t been stripped, bleached, deodorized, or processed the way many mass-market oils are. We totally understand that it can make application a little trickier, especially when working through longer or thicker hair, but the trade-off is that you’re getting the full potency of the oil in its most nutrient-dense form. Most people, like you, get used to it and even start to appreciate it because it’s one of the strongest indicators of authenticity.

The natural scent you mentioned is another tell-tale sign of real, unrefined batana. It absolutely can be strong at first — batana is known for that deep, smoky, earthy aroma — and it takes some getting used to.

Your experience after the first week really highlights why so many people swear by overnight use. Batana is a slow-penetrating, highly emollient oil, which means it continues working long after lighter oils evaporate. The way you described your ends looking smoother, frizz reducing, and your hair holding moisture better — that is precisely what batana is traditionally used for in Honduras. It’s incredible when people start to see their natural texture behaving in a more controlled, hydrated way, especially when they’ve been dealing with breakage or that “puffy triangle” shape you mentioned. And you’re absolutely right: no product will fix everything instantly, but batana tends to show noticeable improvement faster than most, and your results really reflect that.

We also love that you experimented beyond hair. Using a small amount on eyebrows, dry patches around the nose, or even rough areas of the skin is completely in line with how the oil has been used for generations. Because it’s a single-ingredient product with no fillers, stabilizers, or irritants, it’s much safer for sensitive skin than multi-ingredient formulas that often cause breakouts. The slower absorption you mentioned is totally normal — batana has a dense, butter-like consistency at room temperature — and using it at night is the perfect way to let it do its work without feeling greasy during the day.

Thank you again for such an honest, thorough, and heartfelt review. We’re grateful you gave our products a chance, and we’re even more grateful that they’ve become something you genuinely look forward to using. If you ever have questions, need tips, or want to try new ways to incorporate batana into your routine, we’re always here for you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience — two years of consistent use says more than any marketing ever could, and we truly value that level of long-term trust. It’s clear from your review that you’ve taken the time to understand what authentic batana oil should look like, smell like, and feel like, and your insight carries real weight because it comes from hands-on experience rather than hype or trends. Feedback like yours is incredibly meaningful, especially in a space where authenticity matters so much.

Your point about the challenges in the batana market is absolutely valid and deeply appreciated. Unfortunately, there are many products being sold that are mislabeled, diluted, or sourced far outside of the traditional Miskito region, often with inconsistencies in texture, aroma, and performance. This can be confusing and frustrating for customers who are genuinely seeking real batana oil and want to experience its true benefits. Your experience trying multiple brands and recognizing these differences helps underscore just how rare it is to find batana that is truly traditional, unrefined, and respectful of its origins.

We’re genuinely honored that Batana Babe has earned your trust after such careful comparison and long-term use. Preserving authenticity, respecting the heritage of batana oil, and delivering a product that stays true to its roots is at the core of everything we do. Knowing that this commitment has translated into confidence, consistency, and peace of mind for you means everything to us. Thank you for being part of the Batana Babe community and for sharing such an honest, thoughtful, and meaningful review — it truly helps others find the real thing.

Buyer Beware Do NOT TRUST

This product I received from this company is not authentic Batana oil.
The oil I received does not match the known characteristics of real, unrefined cold pressed Batana in color, texture, or scent. Authentic cold pressed Batana is amber to brown with a thick, buttery consistency. This COLD PRESSED product arrived pale, thin, and inconsistent with genuine COLD PRESSED Batana.

After requesting a refund, I submitted the product for GC MS laboratory testing. The lab results confirmed that the chemical profile does not match Elaeis oleifera, the Honduran palm that produces true Batana oil. The analysis showed compounds that are inconsistent with authentic Batana.

The seller’s own website description contradicts the product they shipped. Their page states that cold pressed Batana retains its natural carotenoids, which give the oil its signature amber hue. However, the product I received did not display any amber or golden coloration at all. They also claim cold pressed Batana has no smell and is yellow, which is scientifically inaccurate. If carotenoids and natural plant compounds are present as they claim the oil would show warm amber tones and carry a mild earthy scent. The lack of both indicates refining, dilution, or substitution, not authentic Batana.

I have attached comparison photos showing real unrefined cold pressed Batana oil versus what I received.

These companies paperwork and websites do not prove authenticity, especially as more companies outsource production and quality declines. Consumers deserve transparency and accurate labeling.

I’m posting this so buyers are fully informed.
I stand by this review and have documentation to support every statement.

Réponse de Batana Oil - Made in Honduras

Hello Mayasa,

I completely disagree with your statements and responded to your email. You purchased the COLD pressed Batana. Your first email to me was stating that it did not have the smell and look of the regular Batana and when I pointed out that is because you purchased the cold pressed batana. I also pointed to you on our product page with the picture of the cold pressed batana which is yellow in color, and even states that it has no smell etc. This was all there before you clicked purchase. Cold pressed Batana does not have a smell and goes through cold pressed extraction which has a yellow color as shown on our pictures and even written on our product description.

Mayasa, it sounds like you clearly wished to purchase the original batana oil which is what you were looking for and accidentally purchased the cold pressed. I pointed that out to you and offered you a discount even.

The statements in your review contain several inaccuracies about Batana oil chemistry, extraction methods, and product characteristics that need clarification.

1. Color and Consistency
Authentic Batana oil can range in color from pale gold to deep amber depending on harvest season, heat exposure during processing, and fatty-acid oxidation over time. It is not accurate to claim that “real” Batana is always amber or brown. Cold-pressed, unheated Batana frequently appears lighter—sometimes pale yellow or light gold—because it avoids the heat that darkens the oil. Thicker, darker “buttery” Batana typically results from heated traditional processing, not cold pressing.

2. Aroma
Cold-pressed Batana also carries a very mild, nearly neutral scent. The earthy aroma commonly associated with Batana develops when the fruit is heated for hours during traditional extraction. This is why the scent profile differs between cold-pressed and heat-extracted versions.

3. Claims Regarding Carotenoids
The presence of carotenoids does not guarantee a dark amber color. Carotenoid concentration varies based on fruit maturity, soil conditions, and processing temperatures. Low-heat extraction preserves carotenoids while still producing a lighter oil. Color alone cannot determine authenticity.

4. GC–MS Testing Interpretation
I have asked you to provide me the GC-MS testing that you stated in this review you have before posting this review. I have not received a response. I also have COA and import records of all our products from Honduras. We are fully transparent about our sourcing, extraction method, and testing, and we provide documentation upon request.

While we respect your right to share your experience, your conclusions do not align with the established chemistry of cold-pressed Batana oil. We stand behind the authenticity of our product and encourage customers to verify information using scientific, extraction-specific standards rather than relying on expectations shaped by traditionally heated varieties.

I have used Batana oil for a little over a month and my hair has gotten a little thicker and has started growing it again. The thinning spots have grown in very nicely. I had seen a program regarding Honduras which mention the Batana oil and it properties for your hair. They were not selling the Batana Oil during the program. I saw Batana oil advertised on YouTube weeks later and ordered some prior to buying from your website. This is one product that actually does what is advertised. I am always skeptical about what I put in my hair. I had seen ads for Batana oil and places online to purchase. I'm so happy with my choice to try your product.I have just finished my 1st container. I use the oil once a week before shampooing my hair. I have definitely noticed that my hair is thicker.
