The move went accoridng to plan and…
The move went according to plan and nothing was broken. It was dealt with in a professional manner and the guys working on the project Rees, Amerik, Nigel, and Darren were superb. They were courteous, strong and incredibly helpful even when it came to the disassembly and reassembly of furniture.
If I did have one criticism, I do think Bishop's Move could assign more manpower to its jobs. For moving a multistorey property more than 3-4 people should be used to ensure that fatigue and exhaustion does not set in for the movers. They were exceptionally obliging given the huge volume of materials they had to carry and move.
Charad in the office was also very good at handling the logistics and operations of the move.

Exemplary service
We initially contacted Bishops Move back in January 2025 as we thought we were imminently about to move - The surveyor (Stuart) was great on the video survey of our home and the process was quick and well explained. After our sale fell through, we eventually moved out in September, but in the interim period, the company (Sharad and Stuart) kept checking in with us to see how we were getting on and if we needed any more assistance. We exchanged contracts one working day before our removal into storage was due to commence, but Sharad and Stuart both kept things calm, and Sharad allocated the resource needed. We had 5 people (predominantly from the Cambridge branch) across 3 days to get us packed and into storage, and we couldn’t fault a single team member - Their work ethic, friendliness and team spirit were exemplary. We have never seen a team more professional and motivated about their work and would recommend them without any hesitation. It may sound daunting to have 5 people you don’t know, in your house packing your life’s belongings up, but with our experience of Bishops Move, it couldn’t have been easier or friendlier.

Excellent Service
Everything went really smoothly and we were very impressed by their service. All our interactions with Bishop's Move were really good and in particular the teams on the packing/unloading days were amazing. We really can not say enough good things about them, their work rate or their professionalism. They were so impressive.

Unfortunately it's going from bad to worse now. It's two months since the move and they still haven't refunded me for what they owe me. This is after chasing them down with multiple emails and them not answering the phone. Now they're saying I should contact them so they can "find my details" after I've been trying to get in touch with them for ages.

Highly skilled
Highly skilled, efficient, cheerful (smiling when running upstairs carrying a mattress), our move was a very happy event that took place over several days as we moved from a large farmhouse with several years of stuff accumulated despite serious decluttering before the big day. We felt in excellent hands and were delighted with the kindness, strength and endurance of the wonderful team who looked after us.

Bristol to Glasgow move
We moved from Bristol to Glasgow. The actual move was fairly smooth, it was all the other contact that was incredibly disappointing. Few things you should know before you use Bishops Move;
• Bishops Move are a franchise - this isn't revealed until later on in the process. We actually were dealing with Nightingales (not actually Bishops Move).
• We were lied to a number of times; 1. We were told that boxes were included in the price. They weren't. When we received the invoice, the day before the move, we had to pay. That is refunded on return, but this wasn't explained. 2. We were told that we would have 3 people for 3 days. We only had 2 people for the second half of the move. Makes you question the quote and what you've paid for.
• They couldn't deliver the boxes when we needed them. I was stonewalled when asking for help. Totally not interested in helping me. I had to pay for an Uber to pick them up.
• When trying to pay the invoice my Bank had previously blocked the account details given. Not sure why, but doesn't help with the trust. This was the day before the move and it says that the move doesn't go ahead until payment is made. It was 6-8 hours later that I was able to pay, which was very stressful.
• We were told numerous time that someone would call before to organise. As we were moving a long way, this was going to be important. This call didn't happen.
• I phoned the main London to complain, all they did was redirect me to the Nightingales number, a number of times.
• When I did speak to someone, about the a number of things, I was met with this 'I would advise all customers to read the terms and conditions.'
Please don't use Bishops Move, they are expensive, not competitive in price, not helpful, in fact quite the opposite.
They caused undue stress which is an important day for any family.

We moved from Devon to Wales so Bishop's created a 3 day plan which proved seamless. From start to finish, the team was friendly, professional, and incredibly efficient. They arrived right on time, handled everything with care, and made what could have been a stressful day completely seamless. Every item was transported safely, and they worked quickly without ever compromising quality.
Communication was clear throughout, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was exactly where we wanted it in the new home. Their positive and friendly attitude as well as their attention to detail really stood out.
If you’re looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and hardworking removal company, look no further – Bishop's is outstanding!

Avoid Bishop's and use a local firm instead
I am genuinely shocked that they get so many good reviews.
I arranged a packing and moving service with Bishop's over 2 days. The initial contact was friendly, accommodating and helpful. That is where the positive experience ended.
On day 1, the removals lorry turned up nearly 2 hours late. I was then dismayed to find that only 2 guys had been allocated to the job - despite the job leader telling me it should have been three. By the end of day 1 they left around 5pm with the house barely half packed. Assurances were given around more staff the next day and an 8am arrival.
Day 2 the lorry arrived at around 9am and there were indeed more staff. But there was so much to do and it all felt incredibly rushed. They left our house in London "packed up" at around 2.30 and headed to the new house. I let them go as I was desperate to get them out but they left 3 cupboards worth of items.
They arrived at the new place at around 3.30 and had to scramble even more guys for the unloading. Again all felt very rushed. There are also a couple of items which appear to have been lost in transit.
I am now trying to get them to find the lost items and pick up the boxes from my house with limited engagement from the head office who take no accountability and refer to everything as a "branch issue" - and I can't get hold of the branch. Given that I'm not planning to move, I wont need them again but my advice to anyone would be to avoid them and use a local firm (even at a greater cost).

Nothing premium but the price.
Nothing premium but the price.
We went with Bishops Move for our house move, because we were promised a premium service and despite being one of the most expensive options we decided the peace of mind was worth the extra cost.
Unfortunately on moving day Bishops Move decided to send one of their affiliated companies to us rather than do the job themselves as we were lead to believe they would be. None of the promises were kept about extra care being taken, doors and walls were knocked and our possessions dropped and thrown around. No shoe covers, carpet protectors or gloves were used. None of the additional packaging and protection for high value items was provided like “specialised TV” boxes and very little was done to protect breakable items other than being wrapped in brown paper. Bigger items were covered with dirty sheets from the back of the van.
Avoid at all costs. We have been nothing but disappointed and our significantly out of pocket.
Admin staff have been polite throughout.

A really disappointing experience
A really disappointing experience with Bishops from start to finish - but so close to our move we had no choice. There was enormous faff before hand where you effectively took the money for what we understood to be Bishops services - but you then told us the move would be carried out by another sub contractor. Again, so close to our completion date we had no choice.
The team, whilst friendly guys, on neither days did they wear protective shoe covers, lay down any form of floor protection at either houses, some furniture (presumably from the lorry?) got dirty and has left a mark in one room at the new house, a large picture and glass frame costing a vast sum of money was crushed and broken beyond repair because they failed to wrap it in bubble wrap at all and instead just stood it next to a mattress, yet they individually wrapped plastic garden plates - baffling! Our PlayStation wasn’t wrapped and was just shoved in a box and has been damaged.
No follow up call from Bishops to see how it went - nothing. We’ve not claimed on the cost of the painting and frame because the removal guys seemed so scared of the backlash that would fall on their shoulders and the fines they would receive if we did. We felt too bad for them so we’ve just absorbed the cost on top of what was already a very expensive move. Based on what the removal guys said about their day rates and the cost of our painting, I’m wondering what Bishops did to warrant charging us £4.5k!!
We won’t be using Bishops again or recommending their services to anyone else. It looks like others with 1* reviews have had similiar recent experiences so I would go elsewhere.
Update in reply: you no longer working with the company feels like an admission that things weren’t handled correctly with our move. Yet this doesn’t help us and the damage we’ve incurred? Just an empty response from Bishops.

Careful, considerate and proffessional
The team were phenominal, from start to finish. Their staff went out of their way to help and I have to say the price was really decent. For the peace of mind it offered me and my wife, I would definitely recommend this service.

Amazing Service
First of all a really big thank you to Bishops Move who enabled us to come up from Dorset to Northamptonshire. From start to finish the service from the company has been first class. In particular let me mention the splendid team that looked after us on the day of our move away from Dorset, namely Lewis, Arek and Alan! The following day Arek and Lewis unpacked our belongings, in Northamptonshire, with courtesy and a willingness to always go the extra mile. They were very tidy and thoughtful. My wife and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this excellent company.

Worst removal company I every used
This is the worst removal company I have ever used. Almost all my large furniture item was damaged to some degree by this company. Bishops Moves was more interest in covering up their incompetence that dealing with the problems occurred during the move. Their branch managed after the move would never accept my call or return any of my calls. Their packing service is useless as all boxes apart of kitchen had item chuck into boxes with no packing material. Therefore, damaged did occur on items their packed and some boxes were never delivered. Therefore, this company should avoid at all cost.

I move a lot
I move a lot. This move was a big one from Isle of Wight to California. Bishops move helped coordinate every detail. Their international team was very professional, informative, and proactive. They kept me updated every step of the way. My things took 3 months to arrive and I needed 2 months of storage at the last minute. Bishop’s took care of everything. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I will definitely use them in future. I highly recommend them for an all inclusive moving experience.

A very stressful business from start to…
A very stressful business from start to finish with Bishops.
I was given bad advice regarding the completion of the Tor, (Transfer of Residence) resulting in the failure to secure the necessary paperwork from Customs and Excise twice.
Bishops allowed two days to load 33m2. In actual fact the crew of three loaded all my goods (I had not opted for their packing service) in just 3.5 hours.
Whereas I was led to believe I had a direct move from A to B, my goods were unloaded twice, once in Holland and the second time in the UK, before being delivered to me.
When I checked the labels on my goods after delivery, the destination was Woudenburg, Holland - not my home in Oxfordshire.
From there my goods were shipped to the UK.
My move had been subcontracted to Easy Shipping and also Schmidt.
The crews that both collected and delivered my goods were excellent, I should have gone to Easy Shipping or Schmidt in the first place and probably saved a fortune.
I was told by Bishops my shipment was delayed due to the van having broken down in Holland, whereas Holland was the destination on the paperwork.
When I contacted Grant Bishop, allowing him time to explain why I had been so badly misled, before I posted a review, he became quite defensive and responded by saying ‘Sharon, (my contact at Bishops) has been doing the job for over 25 years and is incredibly experienced. He failed to adequately explain why I had been misinformed or apologise for the unnecessary stress I had been put under.
All in all this was the worst move I've had in 30 years of expat life in Eastern Europe.
This should have been the most straightforward of all my moves but sadly it wasn't.
I most definitely wouldn't recommend Bishops for an international move.
With regard to Bishops response I would like to add the following;
My goods did not arrive in line with the agreed schedule, delivery was three days late.
With regard to the Tor I did indeed communicate directly with HMRC.
My problem was the guidance given by Bishops.
On both occasions I asked for advice, the advice I received was incorrect, causing the application to be refused, twice.
As for the use of subcontractors, I had no problem with either company that managed the physical side of my move - they were both excellent and very professional.
My complaint was the lack of transparency from Bishops.
Nowhere in any of the written or verbal correspondence I had from Bishops was it mentioned they would not be physically managing my move.
If I had known they were subcontracting my move to Easy Shipping I would have gone to them direct and probably saved a fortune and most definitely a great deal of frustration.

Read this, as I didn't use them
I haven't even used them. I had a few quotes to undertake our home removals. Bishops advised they would conduct the 'survey' over a tele-conference type arrangement with their chap. The tech side was simple enough, walked through house highlighting various different aspects including a spa and 45 small pot plants. Within a few minutes of the call concluding I had a quote from them. That quick and simple.
Being a big fan of due diligence I had already asked one more provider to give us a quote but decided that I would need a further 2 more providers as BM cost seemed higher than I had anticipated.
All 3 remaining quotes came in not just cheaper but significantly cheaper than BM and the other 3 were all within £200 of each other. All the others came along and visited the property so they could see what they were quoting for first hand.
To quote over twice that of the cheapest and in addition suggest 2 removal trucks not one, were required, suggests to me either they are over actively pricing or not really getting a good view over the tech - perhaps a face to face would have been better.
On contacting BM for their comments as to why their quote was over twice the lowest, they suggested its all about volumes!
I have a very clear idea what is is all about - the money....
