you are given the impresion you have a 1 year policy--try cancelling that policy when that year is up and you'll be abused,harrassed ,phoned by bailiffs and insulted by the staff for not jumoing through hoops they have suddenly invented,cancel by phone and they want email cancelation,try email,they want phone.

I had multiple renewal quotes even after I renewed. One was nearly half what the original one was, which I was then told was mistake to then get sent it again after I had renewed. I also had to chase my renewal confirmation. On the plus side customer service was very good.

I have been with this company for only a year and a few months. I have never made a claim, although in June I started after my vehicle became victim to some nutty hammer attack, but eventually the repair situation was so complicated and incompetent that I fixed it up myself which was pricey but suited me better. Now I have been the victim of a further accident where someone drove into the same parked vehicle.
I did not know that I had to report the accident as I was not even on site, and assumed the third party had done so as he somehow had my full name. Then about one week later I called them up and was told that as I had failed to report the accident they could not pursue the situation for me. I accepted this. Today I went into my studio which is next door to where I live and found a letter sent there, not my correct address for my insurance policy and there was a letter from them dated 10th Dec I think asking for details about the accident. The accident was 1st Nov and being dealt with by the other party's insurance and now Brightside (or not so brightside) have said they will no longer insure me, and are cancelling my policy on Christmas eve!!! Really? In which case I would like a full refund for the policy which I took out on September 8th (approx). I will be contacting the ombudsman re this. Brightside claim also that they did not know my vehicle was a Romahome, factory made small camper style van. Really????? Well why did you not know, as I gave your company pictures after my last upsetting senario when it was attacked by some nutter who didn't like my parking near her home!! Your breakdown guy promised to come collect my poor wrecked van a few days. It was an undriveable vehicle and he was coming from miles away and actually could not make it on that day and called to say is next week ok? NO. Rubbish. But good luck to the rest of you who choose them.
Also all their emails are unrepliable... ie no reply. Yawn.
I am a decent fair person and these guys are just unprofessional. Such a shame. In my whole lifetime I have never made a claim for anything to do with my car... and that is 41 years of driving then another 10 of riding a motor bike. I am the kind of customer that you should look after, not treat us with so much disrespect.

Overall good experience though at first you weren’t sure if you could offer me insurance even though I’d paid the premium.
