Never got a refund. Reported the case to the Dutch Police.

I sent £840 to a UK bank account but the transfer got cancelled by bunq as confirmed by their customer service. After enquiring multiple times I was promised for the amount to be refunded but never got a refund. I have now reported the case to the Dutch Police which has an online fraud department.

Bunq bank review

From the many banks I have tried out in the past, this is probably the best, because it gives you opportunity to transfer money quick and easy. I usually receive quick replies from support and never have a bad experience with this bank. Also, the idea for planting trees with each transaction above 100 euros is awesome.

Scammers

Hello.
I want to describe my experience of using this bank. In a nutshell, just scammers.

I registered for more than 3 days, because I could not get a sensible answer from support, only a pre-prepared script. In the end, though, it worked out.

I am Ukrainian and due to forced measures I had to leave the country. Unfortunately, I still have many family members there, as well as friends who protect my country. I could not sit and do nothing, so I had to register with the bank in order to send at least some help to the guys. Unfortunately, the bank itself just deceived me.

I opened the card and made several transactions, everything was ok, but after the 4th or 5th funds got stuck. I understand the weekend, all things .. On Monday there is silence, I write to support, they tell me you can continue to send other transactions (but I did not risk it). On Tuesday, I receive funds for a refund, I click on the balance check and my account is blocked. I am writing to support to find out what happened and again the scripts, in short: "we cannot explain to you the reason, you can return the funds after 4 months"

And I just fall into apathy, since this is my last money. Now everything I wanted to buy and send to the guys, I can't do it. I also had mere pennies left, since the main amount was on the account, I just did not expect that the bank was capable of this.

Guys be careful, they behave like real scammers!!! They stole my money and now support is not responding at all. Moreover, they did not even ask for the details for the return of my funds, this is nonsense...

Bad customer service

Bad customer service, if something goes wrong be prepared to lose a lot of money. They will not try to help you. I lost 14k USD this way!!

International students

Going through the reviews, I see that I'm not the first international student with the same problem. bunq will flag your study fees as a suspicious transaction and close your account. They will not give your money back. Do not use this bank!

TUITION & SUBSISTENCE MONEY STOLEN BY BUNQ

MY EXPERIENCE APPEARS TO BE NO DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF SOMEONE WHO HAS FALLEN PREY TO A VERY CONVINCING SCAM!! I’m not in the habit of writing bad reviews about service providers, but I have no other choice but to come onto this platform in the hopes of getting some attention from Bunq and recovering my money.

As an international student, I am completely dependent on my dad for support and rely on the deposits that he makes for me to cover my tuition and living expenses. On … he sent me a significant sum of money which was queried by Bunq. All supporting documents requested were promptly provided and yet, with NO EXPLANATION other than unsupported claims of “suspected fraud,” my account has been blocked. I’m no longer able to message Bunq on the app and have received no meaningful response. AUTOMATED MESSAGES WILL NOT HELP ME TO RECOVER THOUSANDS OF EUROS NEEDED TO PAY MY TUITION AND TO LIVE. I NEED A RESPONSE FROM A HUMAN BEING AND A SOLUTION THAT EITHER GIVES ME ACCESS TO MY MONEY OR RETURNS THAT MONEY TO MY DAD SO THAT WE CAN TRANSACT THROUGH LEGITIMATE BANKS .

Normal practice when suspicious activity is detected, is to return the money to the sender, unless a full legal investigation has been conducted through which funds can be withheld by the bank in conjunction with the relevant legal authorities. This has not taken place and similar transactions with other banks in the past 2 years of my studies have not resulted in a horrible mess like this. I have NO IDEA WHAT WAS DONE WRONG TO WARRANT BLOCKING MY ACCOUNT AND FAILING TO RETURN THE FUNDS TO THE SENDER.

I was excited to open an account with what appeared to be an innovative and efficient bank, only to find myself in this terrible situation where I have no access to money that I need to cover my tuition and living costs. I have no other source of income. I

Bunq - Bank of scammers

I opened a bank account with this virtual bank for my family business, and they suddenly closed our account saying that they will return our money to the senders but they never do that, they stole our money!!!

False advertising

Bunq advertises itself as a bank of the free.

This could not be further from the truth.

There are even good alternatives to bunq.

Look at how all the positive feedback is "invited".

BUNQ has to "invite" in all their positive feedback, meaning they distort up to 2.6 stars for themselves. In fact, they don’t even own 1 star in reality. They also moderate criticism in their own forums.

Also look at how many find their good feedback useful and then see how many find their bad feedback useful.

They closed my account because I received a payment to my account.

Which bank closes the account because a payment has been received? I delivered them receipts from the payer and they asked a few questions. After that, my account worked for a while, after which they closed it. The notice was one-sided, although I provided all the documents they requested.

Autocratic and psychopathic behaviour

Like so many others here I had bad experiences of not being able to access support or get my money out. When I complained, Bunq blocked my account.

It was my only bank account in the country and I was screwed with no way to pay for daily expenses or rent. There's no phone number and no customer service offices. I went to their developer offices (they're in Sloterdijk) and knocked on the door. Those inside ignored me for 30 minutes until I caught someone going to lunch. I told her that either they could unblock my account and approve the transfer of my funds out or I would go immediately to the police and return with police officers.

They reluctantly agreed, unblocked my account and approved the transfer of my funds out into a new account I had opened at ABN AMRO. My life would have been so screwed if I hadn't done that.

I have since learned that the CEO and owner, Ali Niknam, has a reputation in Amsterdam (just visit glassdoor.com for what his employees have to say about him). So relieved that I escaped this scamming fraudulent company.

Hier wil je niet bankieren. Support via forum is niet mijn ding. Bellen met een professionele support afdeling is niet mogelijk. Onduidelijke abonnementen structuur. Hoge maandelijkse bedragen voor een pinpas en om de kosten te drukken kun je met (onbekende) andere klanten een betaald abo delen. Als je je bankzaken serieus neemt, dan kun je hier beter wegblijven.

bunq ist das Mieseste, was ich je erlebt habe

WICHTIG: Wenn Sie die Rezensionen hier durchlesen, sortieren Sie bitte nach "Neueste", da bunq vor einiger Zeit noch gute Bewertungen verdient hatte, jetzt aber nicht mehr.

bunq ist eine reine App-Bank, die also die gesamte Bank in einer App hat. Die bunq-App war die beste App, die ich je hatte, das ganze System war perfekt.

Bis bunq vor einigen Tagen von einem Tag auf den anderen die neue Version V3 der App veröffentlicht hat und die Nutzer zwingt, sofort zu updaten, da sonst die App nicht mehr nutzbar ist.

Diese neue Version ist ein totaler Mist, es gab sehr viel Kritik, schon bei der Beta-Version. Das ist bunq egal. Negative Kritik wird gelöscht, Nutzer werden ignoriert. Der Fokus der neuen App liegt auf Eigenwerbung und drauf, die Nutzer zu zwingen, auf ein Abonnement zu wechseln, mit dem Bäume gepflanzt werden, irgendwo am Ende der Welt. Hiebei kommen zu den regulären 8 € pro Monat nochmal 9 € pro Monat, ohne, dass es nennenswerte Vorteile gibt.

Es gibt noch sehr viele weitere Kritikpunkte, die bunq bekannt sind, jedoch nicht beachtet werden.

Wenn man das Update auf die neue Version nicht vollzieht, kann man die alte App nicht nutzen, da die Funktionen teilweise deaktiviert wurden.

Der ganze Umgang mit den Kunden ist eine absolute Frechheit.

Ich rate jedem 100 %-ig von dieser Bank ab.
