Unclear subscriptions, unwelcome fees and bank requests
Not a brilliant experience here. Paid for a HPI check and all seemed well. A day later I get a request from my bank for £39.99 for unknown reasons, but from this company. Upon investigation i'd been signed up to a subscription which was not made clear at payment, nor did I choose to sign up for.
Thankfully my bank blocked the payment and I was able to close the account I had but if it hadn't then i'd be nearly £40 out of pocket for a £5 report! Absolutely horrible business practice, to not make things like this clear. Prays on the unaware and unknowing. Please BE AWARE

if there was an option to give zero stars I would.
Total scam. £5.95 for a car check (which is good) but beware of the hidden £39.90 monthly reoccurring charges.
Rang the number and got some arrogant woman on the phone who was quick to say it’s in the terms and conditions.
The terms and conditions are not clear and prominent at the point of purchase which is what is catching everyone out. I have already reported this company to the CPCC (as they are based in Dublin) and they have taken great interest in what I had to say. I’m sure if more affected people reported them it will strengthen the case and justice will be served on this scamming company

I used this service to obtain the full history of a car. About a month later, I noticed an unrecognised charge (£39.9) on my bank account. After contacting my bank, I was informed that the payment came from Car-Checking.com.
When I contacted the company, they claimed that I had been signed up to a subscription when I purchased the report. This subscription was enabled by default, which feels deliberately misleading and designed to catch people out if they do not notice it within the first month.
Although they agreed to cancel the subscription, they refused to issue a refund. I find this practice unfair and deceptive, and it left me feeling misled. I believe there should be stronger protections to prevent consumers from being charged through hidden or unclear subscriptions.

Absolute scam company. Paid for one vehicle check, and the next day they tried to take almost £40 out of my account. Luckily this was picked up as fraudulent by Santander, and the money wasn't taken from my account. Worried they've got my bank details now. Will be reporting as fraudulent, and have advised Google to try and get website removed from search history. Appalling.

I was tricked by the sponsored link and thought I was going to another site. I hope you people gets what’s coming to you. What goes around comes around. Same thing here! Wanted a car check for HPI and paid what I believed was a one off payment for it. Small print states it rebills at £39.90. Contacted them right away and they cancelled the service terminating my card without a refund! So took away the service I had been scammed into paying for at the same time. Will have to dispute this with my bank. Scammy practice and they know it or they’d issue refunds. Save your automated message I already reached out to support and they were useless.

Paid for this as a one off £5 payment to then have £39.90 taken out 2 days later. When calling up to sort this the phone staff were beyond rude, I mentioned I had now seen other reviews of people scammed too and all she said was ‘it’s not my job to convince you otherwise’ not even any denial.
I believe they also blocked my number as was only about to get through on no caller id after the initial phone call.

Scam. Just the same as others have said, it is not made clear at all and is a clear attempt to stitch you up. You think you are paying 5.95 and you actually end up being charged 46 pounds for a single check, as the slip in the 39.99 subscription in a few days later.
Avoid at all costs. Nobody in their right mind wants a £480 a year subscription for something like this, it is ridiculous.
