Avoid this company.

I used their service thinking it would help me avoid being scammed, but it turned out to be the opposite. I paid £5.95 for a basic PDF report, which was incomplete and didn’t offer anything useful for a standard UK vehicle.

Not long after, they attempted to charge my card £39.90 without authorisation. I reached out by email and they gave shady response that it was in terms and conditions. As you can also see from other reviewers, they had the same experience, and hence, this guys are openly stealing other people money. Scammers.

This behaviour raises serious concerns. I would strongly recommend staying away.

SCAMMERS - DO NOT USE

Paid for what turned out to be a rubbish, incomplete car report for £5.95.

2 days later i have been charged £39.90. There is aboslutely ZERO mention of this when paying for the £5.95 report. You are not asked to subscribe at any point, otherwise I as with many others would have not done it.
They are intentioanlly scamming people.

Awful company.

You buy a HPI CHECK and no where is it clear that you sign up to a subscription. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DISGRACEFUL SERVICE AND ATTITUDE BY LADY ON THE PHONE.

Yes it sounds like they are being so helpful now. But I can tell you now this is not reality. They have said no successful billing has taken place yet I've had 2 £39 charges taken from my account. No email to say you have subscribed to a monthly subscription. All in tiny small Print no one can see.
No notification to say you have to cancel within a set amount of days.

Not to mention I called my credit card company and the helpful assistant told me he's heard of this company and I will receive money back.

So this company can reply what they like but do t be fooled.!!!!

Disingenuous, with information which you can otherwise get for free. Customer services will point at the T&C's if you complain. No refund on the £39/monthly subscription. Poor service, use an alternative instead.
The company had opportunity to provide better customer service at the time and chose not to, I don't want anything further to do with them, and I encourage others to take note.

Don't touch - tricked into subscription

As per every other review on here, paid for initial one-off report at £5.95 and lured into a hidden subscription of £39.90 per month. No other emails since the initial report - most companies will provide you with an invoice or reminder email or at least marketing, the fact this company doesn't only shows how much they rely on business by hoping customers don't notice and forget all about them rather than offering a true service or having transparent business model. Despicable con. Avoid at all costs.

As with every other review on here I performed a one off car check but they signed me up for a monthly subscription which was not wanted, required or used. Unfortunately this was on a business account which had the payment automatically assigned so it was not noticed until our annual account review. I absolutely despise individuals / companies that make a living this way. Will be persuing with trading standars.,

Vile scamming company AVOID

EU/UK laws state customers should have 14 day's cooling off period and transparent charges..... obviously this scamming trash doesn't follow the rules and hide their scam buried in the Ts&Cs ****AVOID SCAMMERS****

Dodgy charges – avoid at all cost!

I had a very similar experience to other reviewers here. What looked like a small one-off payment turned into an unexpected attempt to charge a recurring fee a few days later (around £39.90). There was no clear indication during signup that this would become a subscription.

I’ve flagged it to my bank, but I’m not sure if I’ll get any refund. It’s extremely concerning that this happens without proper transparency.

This feels misleading at best. Be very careful before entering your card details – read everything closely or avoid altogether.

Update 10 Apr 2026: Car-checking.com has now refunded my money, and I appreciate the prompt action taken.

However, this does not change my overall concern. The sign-up process lacks transparency, particularly around recurring charges. They need to significantly improve both transparency and customer service. When I initially contacted customer support, the agent was not helpful at all and focused only on referencing fine print in the terms and conditions rather than addressing my concern.

I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements.

Paid initial fee to check a car I was looking to buy which checked out and have bought car, however on checking my bank statement have had 2 further payments of £39.90 taken. Contacted customer services who told me it clearly stated I was signing up for this as a monthly subscription, it did not and i don't need any additional checks at this time, as a gesture of good will they have said they will refund £39.90

Got the same scam payment of £39 which was clearly not stated on the sign up. All you have to do is ring up their number and demand a refund and for the subscription to be cancelled and they will refund you.

Shocking service would definitely not recommend. Paid for a check on a car then as I have now read the reviews, i had the same charge of 39 taken off my account 2 days later. Checked the history of many cars and never had a company try to sign me up to a hidden direct debit. Have reread emails and nowhere is it clear that this will happen so clearly trying to scam. Have called to cancel and will be contacting my bank as well. Do not use.
