Dreadful! Rely on misleading people

Paid £1.95 for the basic check on a single car, only to be charged £39.90 2 days later for a subscription I didn’t want.

Emailed for a refund of the £39.90 that is pending to be told “it’s in T&C’s so no”.

Disgraceful way to operate an alleged business. Will always use Car Vertical etc in future as usual, who clearly state all costs and care for customers in after sales rather than this company who clearly don’t care or wish for your return.

I would give zero stars if I could, my husband wanted a check doing on a car, didn't know there was a subscription, £5.94, taken £39 in jan, sent an email, replied back saying cancelled subscription & will refund, nothing, taken another £39 in March, this is fraud, this is my bank not my husband's so different name, I will be reporting

SCAM - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Bought a check for a car I was looking at, for £5.95. Checked my bank account 2 days later and can see a pending payment for £39.99. I did not sign up to anything and there is nothing in their email confirming a subscription or any further charges. I also have no way of cancelling this 'agreement' because they have not given a any information.

Disgusting fraud of a company. I have emailed them demanding my money back and I will be reporting to my bank as a fraudulent payment.

Well got signed up for premium without knowledge . Luckily the bank stopped it as fraud and didn’t pay .. but to my advantage they let me check many many cars without charging which was nice . Now my account is terminated such a shame .. but seriously don’t do it find somewhere else that doesn’t sign you up without your knowledge

Scam. Paid £5.90 for a useful report. They tried to charge £39 2 days later

If the subscription product was a genuinely worthwhile product they would list it prominently on the pricing page, not sneak it through on your CC when you think you're buying a £5.90 report.
They're relying on the fact that you may well be buying the report in a hurry, on your phone, on a windy dealership forecourt. Shameful way to do business.
Thank goodness the card company spotted it.
Edit: contrary to CarChecking's response, the emails I received made no mention of the £39 charge coming up.

Unauthorised charges on card

Do not use this site, it’s a complete scam. Purchased what I assumed would be a single vehicle report, only to be charged 39.90 2 days later. The so called ‘free trial’ period which they state is clearly shown is the complete opposite. No confirmation email was sent regarding payment or a subscription, just an email to say the vehicle report was ready to view. What is even more frustrating is you have no means of cancelling the ‘free trial’ on their website so you have to contact them which judging by the other reviews took days for a reply and by that time they’d already taken the money.

This is one of the worst companies I've…

This is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Through I was doing a one off check only to find out a couple of days later £39.90 subscription came out of my bank. They claim it's clearly stated on the website, but it's not hence all the complaints on just this site alone. They've told me I'm not getting it refunded saying it's my fault. With all the complaints I don't know how they are one of the first companies when you search for a car check.

Shameful business practice

Thought I was buying a single report to help a family member buy her first car. This sham outfit then tried to take £39.90 a couple of days later.
Fortunately, the bank caught it as a suspicious payment. I haven't been charged their nonsense payment, but have had to cancel the card (at least they won't succeed in trying again next month).
It is rare that a company's practices would intense me so much as to leave a review, but this is the worst business practice I have witnessed online, so felt compelled.
As for the clarification they offer customers they have already tried to scam: when 98% of your customer reviews are happy & 2% complain, it could be argued that your disclosures are fair. When 98% of your reviews are complaints, your disclosures are the problem.

TOTAL RIP OFF.

Log on and was looking at a car i wanted to buy. Paid £5.90 for a check . Then 1 day later had £39.60 taken out of my account . Bank account and card now frozen. There is hidden costs that they dont tell you about. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SITE. TOTAL RIP OFF . !!!!!@
