A total scam!
A total scam!! On 16 October 2026, I attempted to purchase a decorative item described as 'Gwen's Cosy-Glow Moggy Lamp' from the website CedarAndTin Co. for a total price of £32.95 GBP. I paid and had a feeling something was wrong. I investigated and found out that the website was an online shopping scam that uses stolen images from legitimate artisans to trap victims, I contacted the merchant to complain and reported the matter to my bank.
A certain Julie from the company sent me an email, saying I will be receiving a refund. Let’s see..
Total scam item available on AliExpress for £6
Regarding Nell’s hand-tuned rain drum, it’s just an AI-created advert. Reality is you can buy this from AliExpress for £6, and after a quick look at what else they sell i’ll be willing to bet you can get all of their products from AliExpress for a fraction of the price they are selling it for.
Don’t give them your money or your personal information.
Total scam group of companies
Total scam ordered hand carved bird boxes got two plastic items supposed to look like the boxes also had to send them to China to get refund contacted bank they got a full refund the company didn't contest the claim They belong to a group of companies all running same scam all items on their websites claim to be made by local craftsmen total lie they come from China Avoid at all costs
Scam
Scam! A whole made up story about a woman hand crafting winter bird nests from her shed in the Somerset Levels. Read well, but quickly realised the product didn't match the narrative.
This is a scam
This is a scam. Unfortunately I did not research before I bought. Claims to be hand carved wood, what actually arrives is a plastic moulded item form China. Do not touch this website!
Another scam company
Another scam company. Cedar & Tin do exist but these guys are misrepresenting themselves as the real deal with sob stories.
Scam company
Beware. All ads are AI and fake stories. Company sits in deep China and steal credit card details etc. highly fraudulent company and complete lies on ads.
Please be aware
Please avoid falling for the various AI-generated adverts & the site. Customer product reviews are supposed to look like genuine Trustpilot ones, using the star system - but they don't exist on Trustpilot. This has been reported.
This company is purporting to sell various 'craft items' made in the UK, with very low production runs/'only stock left' - as every business 'is closing'. Even though items are supposed to be UK-produced & shipped, the ONLY returns address is in China.
Following research, some of the featured businesses don't exist at their reported locations, or the address simply doesn't exist. The parent company has a UK-registered address; it has been reported to the UK authorities because it is misleading customers. Products currently offered are: 'Rain chimes'; rucksacks; woven bird houses - there are others.
Thank god I'm savvy enough to always…
Thank god I'm savvy enough to always come here first before I bought a hand crafter cat lamp for my mum's birthday present!!
This is a con
This is a con. This company send cheap plastic rubbish, not wood or whatever they claim. They are well known as scammers, but I only found out the hard way after ordering 2 hand carved wooden birdhouses for over £80 which included a £10 tip for the pensioner who 'carved' them. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU. THEY ARE THIEVES.
"Alan's last rucksacks" is a scam
"Alan's last rucksacks" is a scam. I was taken in by a convincing story about an elderly man who has been producing handmade rucksacks for the last 40 years, and the building he worked in had been sold to convert into luxury apartments. I decided to buy one of his "last remaining stock" using PayPal but got a pop up message saying there was a problem with PayPal please use another method of payment - instant red flag, so did a search on this company and found all these negative reviews which confirmed my suspicions. It's concerning that they can get away with posting these elaborate stories in order to fool the buying public.
It's a SCAM
It's a SCAM. These people are CRIMINALS!
They inform Royal Mail that it's been despatched to them, but it never arrives. When I got in touch, they kept insisting it was on it's way.
I admit I was taken in by the quaint story that featured in an advert. However, I noticed a similar story about a different product sdveryised by them today.
The advertisment is just one more in…
The advertisment is just one more in the long line of scams advertising mass produced Chinese rubbish. When will Government agencies step in?? To stop all these. What is Trust Pilot doing about them?
Another Scammed person
I have ordered a bird feeder lady. My boyfriend has just had a so called wooden bird house, which has never seen wood only cheap and nasty material that is pre moulded. I am holding out no hope for this item and certainly won't expect it to have seen bronze.
Another scam from the Chinese.
BEWARE
I may have awarded a one star rating
I may have awarded a one star rating, that is because I cannot give this company anything lower. All I can positively say is this company is a SCAM....
DO NOT ORDER THE "HAND MADE WOODEN…
DO NOT ORDER THE "HAND MADE WOODEN BIRDHOUSE"...RESIN!!!
CHEAP AND NASTY. NOTHING LIKE THE ADVERTISED PRODUCT BY THE ELDERLY MAN SUPPOSEDLY RETIRING.
DARENT RETURN IT, AS I DOUBT I'LL GET MY MONEY BACK!!! SCAM!!!
CedarAndTin Co
CedarAndTin Co. is a big con; the so-called solid wood "Bird House" is some sort of plastic and is probably made in China, definitely not carved, and due to its depth, no good as a bird box. Sadly, I have been caught out at 89 years old.
The item was NOT as described
The item was NOT as described. It was a complete scam. Please do not be tricked as I was ....do not buy from this company
**MISLEADING ONLINE ADVERTISING IS…
**MISLEADING ONLINE ADVERTISING IS COSTING US MORE THAN MONEY**
I recently paid £119 for three birdhouses from cedarandtinco.com. After becoming concerned about the seller, I requested cancellation and a full refund.
The experience has made me question something bigger: how much damage does misleading advertising do to confidence in online shopping?
Adverts featuring charming workshops, skilled craftspeople and supposedly handmade products encourage us to believe we are supporting independent makers. If those claims are misleading, customers lose more than their money. They lose trust.
There is nothing wrong with selling mass-produced or imported goods—provided the description is honest. Tell us what the product is made from, where it comes from and what we can realistically expect.
Genuine craftspeople suffer too. They must compete against persuasive stories and attractive photographs, then face the suspicion left behind when buyers feel deceived.
Advertising platforms should take greater responsibility for investigating misleading adverts and acting on substantiated complaints. Customers should not have to become detectives before buying a garden ornament.
My advice: check independent reviews, save the advert and read the return policy—including the return address—before paying.
I am sharing my concerns and have requested my money back. I will update this post with the seller’s response and the outcome.
**Honest sellers deserve our business. Customers deserve honest advertising.**
If you have bought from this website, please share your own factual experience: what you ordered, what arrived and how the seller handled any problem.
Please share to encourage others to check before buying.
Mass produced crap - Not hand crafted
Yes, definitely a scam, and I fell for it. Ordered a "hand made" cat lamp for my wife. The next day I had a niggle in my mind and googled "cedar and tin scam" and there it was. They are passing off mass produced Chinese crap for homemade goods. I contacted my credit card company while the payment was still pending. Nothing they can do until the payment goes through, then they will deal with it. Goods not as described. No idea yet whether the goods will arrive or if the credit card company will refund me.
