Absolutely delicious chocolates and fantastic customer service!

I am a chocolate lover; and I am enjoying trialling some of the best chocolates available. Being a lifetime Dorset resident, I found that I should give Chococo a try. A small trial box didn't really appeal too much but thought I would give them the benefit of doubt and took out a subscription for the large 25 chocolate box. Certainly I can agree the packaging is special (but at what cost) whilst the chocolates have very thin cases and break easily when attempting to remove them from the box (in spite of the warning that the dividers can be removed which rather detracts from the visual appeal). The chocolates themselves were just very average - quite sweet and with too much filling and too little chocolate coating.
But what really let the side down were the 'menu illustrations' which my wife and I found of little use.
I am sorry Chococo, these artisan chocolates are really 'all show and no go' for us.

This review relates to Chococo's Festive Collection, 2022. To echo another reviewer, "Quality, packaging, flavours and presentation spot on". High-quality chocolate, with innovative flavours & distinctive presentation. For example, "Prunes steeped in Pedro Ximenez sherry, blended with dark chocolate" - standout. Who would have thought? Monotonous, this is not!

Box of advent chocolates were well presented, but the chocolates were difficult to extract from the packaging and tastes were strangely uniform and uninspiring, with little resemblance to what was promised.

I have bought chocolates from them multiple times mainly as presents and I haven't been disappointed. The chocolate always looks nice, the packaging is environmentally friendly and the taste is great. I'm fussy about chocolate and I really liked the chocolates I've tried from them so far.

My friend sent me a gin box as a gift, would definitely recommend these chocolates, lovely gift well packaged and tasted so yummy

I recently started a fresh chocolates subscription after Hotel Chocolat ended the tasting club and inventing room subscriptions, and the chocolate has been absolutely fantastic. The quality and taste are great and the flavours are really imaginative. Definitely much better quality than the chocolates I was getting from HC. I've also tried their solid milk chocolate which is also delicious, rich and creamy, and melt in the mouth. At 45% cocoa it's just the right strength for me.

Not only that but the customer service has been brilliant too. I had an issue with my subscription this month, where the system wasn't processing this month's box and I didn't receive anything when I was supposed to, however they apologised for this and having looked into it explained it might take a while to fix, so sent me a free box so I don't have to go without! Very generous of them and I'm pleased that they are thinking so much of their customers.

The only downsides are that there isn't a huge range of chocolates each month compared to HC, however they are a small company and so that's understandable (plus quality over quantity and there seems to be at least one brand new flavour each month). I've also yet to see any of the perks of being a subscriber such as special discounts, but hopefully they'll come in due course.

Ordered the jubilee limited edition box and was amazed as usual! Quality, packaging, flavours and presentation spot on! Very kindly substituted another flavour upon my request. Very helpful. All were delightful and loved the cherry bakewell and champagne fizz! Fabulously indulgent treat! Delivery on time too.very special chocolates!

Found the shop while visiting Swanage on a chilly and wet day. Had the best hot chocolate ever, not too sweet, wonderful flavour, the cheese and Marmite scone with cream cheese and chutney was the best thing I’ve eaten for a long time, so impressed I stocked up with chocolate from the attached shop to take home.

Very disappointed as ordered an egg for my son for Easter which he was really looking forward to opening only for him to find it all smashed in the box. The egg was well wrapped and there was no damage to the box and it had been stored very carefully at home so can only conclude that it was sent out already broken. I appreciate the egg will taste the same whether it is broken or not but part of the fun is seeing the egg as a whole, definitely not worth the (very) expensive price, have never had this issue with other retailers when ordering online.

Arrived well packed. I ordered 2 Easter Eggs on Easter Sunday upon opening the eggs which were wrapped in tissue paper the were cracked when you picked them up the broke up. Does this matter as they will be broken to be eaten Yes it does when there a present. You can’t see the eggs upon arrival as there in a closed box. At the cost £40.00 a little more care should be taken I could have brought an off the shelf egg where you can see if the eggs broken. Learnt my lesson this time.

Very cute Easter egg with turtles and starfish inside but the chocolate leaves a nasty aftertaste. Not sure what it is. Have checked the ingredients but no idea. Disappointed. Also surprised as the company seems to get good reviews. Has put me off eating any more of the egg.

Beautiful and delicious chocolates without the plastic nonsense.

The fresh chocolate selection was so inviting and looks and tastes more expensive than it is. The Brown butter and molasses chocolate from the fresh chocolate selection is hands down the best chocolate I have ever eaten, and even flavours that I wouldn't typically enjoy were tasty, balanced and delicious. That fact that it comes ethically sourced and without plastic is a huge bonus too.

One item I ordered turned out to be out of stock but they contacted me straight away to sort it out very politely and efficiently.

Any time I would have been buying hotel chocolate boxes for gifts people will be getting some chococo now.

Fabulous service!

Bought some for my partners birthday - he’s very fussy about his dark chocolate - and this he said was just OK. Not as good as some of the competition - you may get a little more but that’s not the point. I thought the packaging was lacklustre and boring. Good chocolate is a real treat - this was nothing special.

Was sent a duck in an orangutan box rather than the orangutan. How their quality control could allow this surprises me.

Customer Service was true to their word though and on the same day I informed Chococo of the error (last Saturday before Christmas) and an orangutan was sent 1st class post.

My husband happily ate the chocolate duck and I'm sure he'll enjoy the orangutan just as much on Christmas Day.

All is well that ends well.

I paid extra for delivery in 1 to 2 days and it arrived a week later. Using Royal Mail isn't even an excuse here because the package wasn't dispatched until 2 days before it was delivered. Disappointing and misleading.

I signed up to their newsletter and received a £5 voucher. When I tried to use it, I got a voucher invalid message. This in my opinion is a very dishonest way to conduct business.

Okay, heads up, this is going to sound so odd and very specific: After watching Matilda, I got this sudden urge to buy a box of chocolates like the ones Matilda steals from Miss Trunchbull's mansion in that little box.

My problem is that there aren't many chocolate providers in the UK that do this. What I was looking for was a box of chocolates with no plastic packaging smothering the box, and have individually handmade chocolates. Many chocolates you find in the UK are delicious but very uniform with the same design. To me, it really sucks the fun and creativity out of a box of chocolates!

Chococo manages to make beautiful chocolates, all with a unique design (just like the ones from Matilda!) They are fresh and plastic free! I'm very happy with the purchase and delivery. Thank you Chococo.

I wanted to find a unique, hand made, awarded chocolatier that was made in the UK and provided a different type of chocolate. When I found Chococo I was immediately impressed with the uniqueness of the offered flavours and that each was handmade. The freshness is evident as the delivered chocs has a 2 week shelf life which assures freshness, quality, and premium taste. Do not put the chocs in the fridge as it will affect the taste - keep them at room temperature.
A word of advice, quite a few of the selection provided are dark chocolate and some are very strong so if you aren't into strong tasting chocolate then go with the cheaper brand (which is more mainstream but lesser volume cocoa %
