This trip was a truly exceptional experience into the culture, history, geology and food of Sicily. Learning the complex history behind the island, and experiencing so much of the historical structures, geology and natural beauty was very fulfilling.

The food was unparalleled, and. the stops to learn and experience native food culture at a winery in Mt Etna, a cheese farm and and an Olive Oil Plantation were truly eye opening and educational, not to mention the tastings :)

The accommodations in Agrigento and Taormina were divine, and you might want to add some time to enjoy the amenities at the Verdura Resort (Agrigento) (Beach, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Pool)

This is not really a Hiking/Walking tour - so do not expect anything more than some amblings....with one exception! The hike up Mt Etna (though not all the way to the top!) took some effort, but not much :) Seeing and learning about this active volcano with it's lava flows was wonderful.

We went with another couple that are our friends, and the 6 others in the group all got along superbly, with great interaction and sharing experiences. We are fortunate!

To compete the island, one may want to add on a day prior to see Monreale, Segesta and Elice - which can be done through local tour guides as well, and then similarly to Siracusa at the end - this would give you the total experience!!!!

All these types of trips are highly dependent on your Guide - and here we scored a 10/10!!!! Francesco was a gem. Classic Journeys is fortunate to have him as one of their Tour Guides.

Our guide Katty was wonderful! Very knowledgeable and personable with great personality. She was top notch!

Would have liked alittle more time to enjoy some hotel pools and hot tubs. It was a very busy schedule which I know the travel from place to place takes up alot of that time.
The staff at the 3 hotels on the islands were very friendly and accommodating. They made you feel right at home.
It was an amazing experience!

From the moment I was picked up at the hotel on Sunday the fifth every day was an oh my God moment and classic journeys outdid themselves day after day. The tour guides Johnny and Anita kept everything running so smoothly. I consider them friends along with the along with the other members of the tour Antonio the driver was a class act all the way.
I highly recommend class journeys being a solo traveler, it’s the best way to see the world and by the end of the tour, you’ve made new friends for life..

We loved our guide, Johnny, on the Dolomites tour. The group that was there was ready to hike, hike and more hike.
The hotels were nice. However, most of the non-hiking activities were things we could experience or had experienced back at home. Such as spa, wine tasting, painting glass, and so on. We would have gladly traded the super fancy hotels for more unique experiences.

On the other hand, in Corsica and Sardinia, the group was on average somewhat older. Having said that, even the over 70’s and over-80’s were fit and hiked well. Often the younger group would just walk faster or longer where they could. The least fit was one of the younger people in the group. One man who was in his late 80’s or maybe over 90 finished all the walks at the pace of the group. This group was larger than the first. The thing that made this trip stand out was that our guide had led trips in this area for at least 20 years. He had built relationships with locals. When he said we were going to see a woman who ho wove baskets, I thought “oh,no”. But this was an extraordinary basket weaving. One of the last days we had lunch at the “camp home” of a shepherd he had known for years. It was a beautiful setting and he roasted wild boar and a lamb for us. I could say about more about the excursions - they were all unique.
That is what made all the difference.

The blend of history and walking was exactly what we were looking to experience.
The "arts and crafts" included was not our cup of tea, and could be substituted for a theatre experience or cooking experience.

This is the fourth trip I have taken with this company because they provide an excellent experience with knowledgeable guides, good hotels and meals, limited size of groups, and a mix of activities that suit my abilities and interests. They provide good value for the price.

A great trip and a great guide took us on a fabulous trip. You would never be able to do what we did on your own they took us to the finest restaurants, most beautiful places it’s well worth using classic journeys.

Trip guide was superb. Weather was generally good. Kept busy on all days. Less hiking than expected but that was not necessarily a problem. Activities were great.

Best tour guides-

Saida and Abdou were amazing. They immediately felt like the "smart friend" who provided all the information and facts, yet personalized everything to make us feel connected to Morocco.

Richard was a wonderful guide who showed us a variety of landscapes in the Costa Brava area. We saw beautiful historic cities and learned the history of each of them.

We had two knowledgable local guides. Both were so passionate about sharing their love of history, plants, birds, and culture. We had 12 guests in our group which was perfect. We made fast friends on day one had a blast all week getting to know each other. The accommodations were top notch and the food was heavenly - adventurous but easy to try with a group. I especially enjoyed the variety of hikes-coastal hike, forest hike, and local trails! We are already planning our next trip with Classic Journeys!!

We were promised a walking trip with two experienced guides. What we got was mostly a bus tour (hardly any walking), with one experienced guide and another guide who wasn't trained and for whom this was her first trip. The experienced guide tried his best, but he needed the other guide to know what they were doing and they didn't have a clue. And, please note, this really is more of a bus tour than a walking tour. There's very little walking.

The Portugal tour I just completed was a wonderful experience. The guide for our tour, Vanessa, was exceptional in her attention to detail and her concern for the tour members.

The trip to Scotland was great for several reasons. Alan and Gill were wonderful tour guides. They are knowledgeable about the natural environment and the history of Scotland. The trip was well organized and everything went well.

The itinerary, hotels, restaurants, walks and talks all and total experiences were fantastic. The guides also made accommodations for weather, activity levels and individual needs seamlessly.
Highly recommend for those wanting a great experience with opportunities for activity included.

The guides were extremely knowledgeable, fun, supportive and could roll with changes if need be.
The itinerary was very good! We could have had more walking but the amount we did was fine. The scenery and all the sites we visited were interesting, educational and mostly beautiful.

Our guides were amazing. The park guides (Tara and Tom) and the classic journey guides (Kevin and Josiah) were wonderful. They constantly checked in on our needs and had such a wealth of knowledge that everyday was amazing. I loved the restaurants and the friendly staff.
