A Dangerous ‘Service’

Do not bother with this service. Completely ineffectual. Literally nothing at all will be done about your problem. Calling them will make you feel worse because you’re hoping for them to do something useful but they can’t / won’t do anything beyond giving ‘strategies’ that you could easily find yourself on YouTube or ChatGPT and which are meant for mild, transient experiences of stress (‘strategies’ such as deep breathing, distracting yourself by watching a TV programme, reminding yourself that your body is in fight or flight), not serious mental health crisis problems. Even their tone is appalling - consistently deeply passive aggressive, dismissive, condescending and fuelled by ego-driven wanting to get in the last word. If you value your mental health or that of a loved one, do not call these people. I believe they are actually a danger to people in mental health crisis.

Darlington mental health crisis team did nothing after my brother had left a suicide note which they were aware of one week before he took his own life.
No consistency with care eg different members of staff firing questions at him when he was in a very vulnerable state .

Disappointing experience

Disappointing experience. My scheduled phone appointment never came through, and when I later requested an in-person appointment, the receptionist couldn't confirm whether this was possible or offer further help. Her tone came across as uncaring, and I felt she was more eager to remove me from the system than help me access support. I felt unsupported and frustrated when seeking help. Communication and customer care need significant improvement.

Don't waste your time they genuinely don't care!

In a mental health crisis. I had a visit to my home by 2 staff members where I wasn't listened to, patronised and not taken seriously. They refused me any help. Their recommended solution was to go to my doctors appointment in 2 weeks time.

Staff don't care, don't listen, they patronise you and refuse to help and the solution they offer is totally inappropriate to the suffering and anguish you're currently experiencing. Record any interactions you have with them and when you're feeling up to it, put in a complaint.

I recommend anyone to record any dealings you have with CNTW staff, nurses or doctors! It is perfectly legal to make voice recordings without them knowing as long as you don't post them online!

Had involvement with them after a then undiagnosed PMDD episode. The two people I initially saw were pleasant but not helpful. The two people that attended the day after Crisis sent an ambulance were terrible. One in particular almost seeming to judge me for an ambulance that the people he works for called for me.

CNTW Carlisle - Would Not Recommend, Even to my Worst Enemy!!

Quite literally the most abysmal “mental health service” I have encountered. I have experienced ongoing issues with CNTW since being “treated” by them , from the age of 18. I am now 23, almost 24 and am no better off compared to when I first started attending their appointments, in fact, I am WORSE OFF now, than I ever was before being assigned to them, five years ago. Some of these many issues with CNTW include: calling their phone number in a time of mental crisis, asking to be put in contact with an appropriate team member, only to be told “can you not just wait?” by a receptionist. A separate incident from them led to me being incorrectly supplied me with x4 boxes of a highly sedating medication, the label on the box telling me to take 1 in the morning, and 6 before bed!! (Upon researching this dose instruction, someone who has never taken this medication or dose before (ME) would likely be put into a chemically induced coma) All I got from them regarding these incidents were a “sorry” in writing. To anyone who considers being referred to this “treatment team” - please reconsider, the lack of care and co ordination is shocking, and could have cost me my life on many occasions. I truly would not wish this kind of treatment upon my worst enemy.

Appauling

Appauling! Mocked, condescending attitude, lied to and gaslighted. So essentially you're abusing people who phone for help & don't listen & take anything on board & lead you into a false sense of security. Once you upset them you end the call. Shocking!!

Absolutely Useless and careless

Absolutely Useless
I initially called them and asked to talk to someone and was told that I would be able to talk to a nurse or a mental health support member the day after. When I told them my situation in depth which also included a lot of very uncomfortable details about my personal life they told me that that’s the only thing that they could do was for me to self refer to vitamins which in itself has terrible reviews. Prior to this, I talk to my general practitioner about this call and about medication for depression and I was told that I should speak to the Crisis Team’s consultant psychiatrist.
When I told the mental health support member from the Crisis Team this they scoffed and said that they doubt that. This person I was talking to, didn’t even try to hide it and was very condescending.
This is a dark contrast to my previous experiences with them six years ago where they were actually hopeful and referred me to have therapy at the Coast Resource Centre.
Saying that though I do not know if this is the same group or people anymore.

To summarise: DO NOT CONTACT THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TALK DOWN TO AND DISMISSED CONSTANTLY
Whilst this email might seem like the ventings of someone who is just frustrated at this company, I can assure you that I am just disappointed that a service like this would treat someone who is at the worst point in their life and is having suicidal ideations on a daily basis

The problem with this trust is the…

The problem with this trust is the staff are not as honest as they claim to be. In an appointment there were staff sitting and they were asked what are you doing with the piece of paper, they claimed to be making notes yet when they were asked if they would show the people who were sat with them the staff didn't.

After the appointment the people who had been to the appointment had requested their health notes only to find that the staff from the appointment had not written down what was being discussed but they had written something completely different. It just leaves you wondering why the staff have to be that way. The need for this trust to continue to provide anyone any help would require the vast improvement of the trust and the staff that is employed within it.

There are so many things that needs improved and the following come to the surface.

1. Much better communication from the people who answer the telephone. They should have to provide to you their full name and job title.

2. The need for staff to listen to you before they interrupt your question, they themselves should really learn about cues.

3. The need for the staff to understand what you are telling them and why it needs to be mentioned.

4. The correct documentation to be recorded accordingly and truthfully by the staff

5. For the staff not to dismiss anyones symptoms and not judge the person or people who they are sat with.

6. For the trust to adhere to the website policy regarding what is actually available for anyone who contacts the trust for help be it a phonecall appointment or face to face.

NHS mental health crisis team are an absolute waste of time. Rang them with concerns of my mums mental health yesterday and they give some advice but said they would ring her as a welfare check. They did not ring her at all. She’s 70 and threatening to kill herself. The woman I spoke to was like a robot reading from a sheet. No wonder mental health is so bad and so many suicidal people. They were no help at all

..if you can imagine..spent 60+years living a lie ..of a life..knowing..but also not totally able to understand..exactly...
Major crisis...took 3 years to get help from the mental health sector of NHS..
Offered help..took it..what else could I do???...1 year psychotherapy..dynamic..wow...
OK it took almost 10 months to totally connect with the (trainee)therapist..but I DID...I was starting to breath differently..my composure was becoming calm..I (quietly at 1st) began to love this woman...suddenly there was a POSSIBILITY..quietly..that there was a different way of seeing the world..to be the LOVING CARING SHARING person..
...""well it's time to start thinking about ending your sessions..only 6 more weeks..""..screaming..shouting..threatening retribution..NOTHING WAS GOING TO CHANGE...."ITS ENDING..GET USED TO IT..."

I was referring to the crisis team last month when I had a mental breakdown and suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately the lady on the phone was incredibly unsupportive and judgemental. She criticised me for not wanting to leave the house on my worst days. She asked if I was suicidal I said yes, she asked if I made plans to kill myself. I said no. She said good because if you have we can't help you. I left that phone call feeling worse. Horrible lady with a horrible attitude that felt to me that she didn't care. Would NEVER EVER use that service again. No wonder our mental health services are failing.

CNTW

CNTW - Carlisle crisis team. Shocking, useless, lacking the basic skills required like empathy and customer service. You’d be better off speaking to a brick wall for help. Their knowledge and understanding of additional needs is zero and unless a question or answer pops up on their little screen in front of them then there’s nothing floating around that may strike staff as an opportunity to help. Shocking
