Excellent!!!

I thought the course was brilliant. It covered all the difficult topics that were definitely the main gaps in my knowledge (and I think the gaps in most people knowledge). They were topics that I would have found it hard to learn myself, and it was excellently taught by Dr Cockrell in a mermorable way that gave me understanding I have never had before. I can’t recommend the course enough!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the course. All the topics are selected as those that are the hardest to understand, not the easiest to teach.

Best of luck with your exam!

Good Overall

Great 2 day session of revision with lots of important topics and concepts covered. Phil has clearly gone to great efforts designing this course including giving up his weekend to deliver it. His enthusiasm continues on both days when he is always willing to explain content with a different approach if it wasn't understood the first time.

My one reservation about this course is the price. Whilst it is a good quality course I feel £200+ is a bit excessive. I'd like to hope the price largely covers expenses occurred for organising and delivering the course, however I feel the current price surpasses that by some margin.

Following our email correspondence I'm glad that you are now aware of the complexity of providing a course, all the background steps that are involved and costs incurred. Not withstanding, the course still sits as one of the cheapest MRCP part 1 courses you can attend and if you read the feedback below, although cheaper than others, the teaching quality is still outstanding.

High quality preparation for MRCP

Thank you for very good course over the weekend. A lot of topics settled nicely down following great explanation and perfect teaching technique. Definitely will recommend for MRCP preparation.

Concepts not facts!

Great speaker who really digs down into concepts rather than just teaching facts. Just a shame we could only cover a few topics. Would love to see a longer 5 day course. Would be a definite competitor to the Pastest course!

You can cover a greater number of topics in 5 days than you can in 2. This course is constructed to cover the absolute maximum material I believe one person can absorb in the given time - and ensure that they remember it.

The construction intertwines concepts together to enhance understanding, highlighting recurring themes to allow candidates to answer a question with confidence and improve clinical practice... It is not trying to emulate Pastest.

I would advise anyone looking for a course like Pastest to actually attend the Pastest course instead of conciseMRCP.

With this pattern of teaching it hopefully does feel like you have not been overloaded with topics, but during these 2 days we covered..

Highly Recommended MRCP 1 Course

This 2 day intensive course provided conceptual reviews on widely tested exam topics in a very interactive way.
Dr Cockrell’s way of teaching was excellent and I would definitely recommend this course to other colleagues.

Excellent course

Excellent course. High yield and focusses on more challenging areas. Dr Cockrell has the ideal combination of mastery of the material together with superb teaching skills to communicate this (I believe he scored very high in the exam and since attained a medical education qualification). Very clear with A2 notepad visualisations. Excellent course handbook which goes well beyond material covered. Most sessions by Dr Cockrell however also Dr Ram gave a very useful session on exam technique with useful tips - again presented clearly and concisely. 10/10

The best course I have ever been on

One the best if not the best teaching I have ever had in medicine. Hard work, but engaging, dynamic and rigorous. I wish even one of my lecturers at university had been like this. I feel I learnt more in two days, in a way that has stuck than in some months at university. Truly worthwhile course.

Some specific notes of feedback: the lymphoma and leukaemia sections being put together worked very well, the call backs to specific phrases multiple times and with different angles helped cement things excellently, and the diagrams and aid memoirs were well thought out and useful.

Thank you for a great course.

Thanks for your fabulous feedback. Although grueling in the sheer quantity of information it is reassuring to hear that I have managed to make it stick with the unique approach chosen.

I will modify the structure by combining the lymphoma and leukaemia lectures into 'hematological malignancies' in future courses as you suggest.

Thanks again

Excellent course

Excellent course. Phill is a very engaging and clear teacher who covered a vast amount of material over the 2 days. I was particularly impressed by the number of links he made between topics, and how he consolidated learning regularly, helping me remember what he had taught.

Highly recommended for anyone studying for the MRCP!

Excellent course - really useful to have different subjects linked throughout

It can be difficult to hear other members of the audience so please repeat what they say for everyone if they ask / answer questions

Many thanks for your advice. I must admit that this is something that I have noted when I have been in an audience. I will endeavour to make this more clear in future teaching, especially as when one person asks a question, others are likely to benefit from further clarification.

All the best with your revision.

A course that everyone has to attend

A course that everyone has to attend: well structured, very informative and aimed not only for MRCP but also helped understarding the physiology and pathophysiology. Excellent presentation with passion. Plus: consolidation sessions!

Very useful course!

Thank you so much for providing this course! It was very well organised and the teaching materials were useful. Dr Cockerell has an excellent way of putting points across to help make us understand and I thought it was really useful when we went back over things to solidify them in our minds.
My only suggestion would be to have a limit certain questions if a question was about something that the person asking was interested in but not relevant to the exam that they were asked to ask it later during the break. At times I felt we were wasting time going on a tangent when there is such a lot of material to cover!
Otherwise this course was fantastic and the resources provided were excellent. I was glad of the topics chosen to cover and it was very useful to ask the audience questions then direct it at someone because even if you hadn’t been picked to answer the question initially you would be thinking of the answer in case you were picked!

Thank you!

Great suggestion about off topic questions. I will keep an extra flip pad to record these and will answer these during the breaks for those that are interested.

Dr Cockrell’s concise MRCP course

Dr Cockrell’s concise MRCP course was a truly enjoyable experience. The course lectures delivered by Dr Cocktell were excellent. An example of this was the use of whiteboard to present conditions which allowed the concepts and their links to emerge on the page which really helped me to understand complex disease processes. I was truly surprised at my ability to recall answers during the consolidation sessions and this was due to the successful teaching style of Dr Cockrell. I feel prepated and confident to pass my MRCP examinations following the brilliant teaching on this course. I also feel inspired to continue my work as a clinician whilst learning from Dr Cockrell’s approach to the diagnostic process. Many Thanks to Dr Ram for a great session on MRCP exam tips also. I would definitely reccommend this course to all colleagues. Many Thanks once again, was a true priviledge to be part of the course and to learn from Dr Cockrell and his team.

I'm really happy that you appreciated the structure. The whole order of the course is constructed in a specific order to introduce concepts in a preconceived way and build on them bit by bit to ensure rapid understanding and give an over arching view of medicine as a whole.

The exam is only a small step on the process to becoming a clinician so am delighted that this has provided help with this but more so been an aid to maintaining a desire to focus on your clinicianship.

I will pass on your thanks also to Ram.

Best of luck with your exam!

The course is really organised and has gone through a lot of difficult topics. The revision book provides a lot of information that we need to know for exams and are useful for future exams and daily practice. I really enjoyed the course.
