I recently ordered a new Kia PV5 through Crusader Vans. At the outset, everything was positive – I dealt with Josh Chipps, who was professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. The deal looked good, I placed the order, and paid the £199 + VAT contract processing fee. At that stage, all seemed straightforward.

Unfortunately, shortly afterwards I had a personal issue arise which meant the van was no longer suitable for me to lease, so I needed to cancel the order. This is where you really find out what a company is like.

I was informed that cancelling would incur a £350 + VAT cancellation fee. To be fair, Crusader Vans did offer to offset the original £199 + VAT processing fee against this as a gesture of goodwill, so the amount was slightly reduced. However, a cancellation fee of over £350 + VAT still feels very steep, and it is not something that is made particularly clear at the start of the process.

I’m sure the response to this will be that it’s “in the terms and conditions” – and yes, technically it is – but realistically very few people read every line of small print in full when ordering a van. I think this is the kind of cost that should be highlighted far more clearly upfront.

I will pay the outstanding balance simply because I don’t have the time or inclination to fight it, but I felt it was important to let others know that once you sign on the dotted line, you are effectively committed to the £199 + VAT admin fee and a £350 + VAT cancellation fee if circumstances change.

As a result of this experience, Crusader Vans have not only lost me as a customer, but I’ve also advised a friend who was looking to upgrade a fleet of vans to look elsewhere. It’s disappointing, as the sales experience started off well, but the cancellation policy has left a very sour taste.

this is my 5th van from crusader , really pulled all the stops out this time, as I had a vehicle written off and they got a new one to me within 5 days on the lead up to xmas !!

I am very pleased with the over all service from Crusader Vehicles. This is our 4th vehicle from them. A minor hiccup along the way with a seat belt malfunction from the manufacture but josh was very helpful and communicated thoroughly through the slight delay. I would highly recommend to all :)

I made initial contact after viewing & reading the vehicle details on Auto trader.
Simon was helpful at every stage. We agreed on a video call so that I could view the car in real time.
The car was in really good condition, low mileage & a gd price.
A highlight for me was that the car could also be delivered as I lived approx 300 miles away and am disabled. (Delivery Fee did apply).
The car was MOT'd, serviced & delivered with Simon maintaining contact throughout the whole process to ensure I was satisfied.
