Have booked a solo trip to Japan. The information on website is really clear and the booking experience was really good. Didn’t feel rushed, answered my questions in a friendly and professional way. So far my experience with this company has been excellent. Very much looking forward to my trip next year.

Amazing tours, guides and a great company!
We travelled with Distant Journeys on both the Very Best of New Zealand and Very Best of Australia tours earlier this year. Both individual tours were excellent and so well organised by our local tour guide. Despite the issue in the Persian Gulf kicking off mid tour, the company did a fantastic job in managing such a fraught situation and flexing our itinerary to get us home safely. Thanks for everything!

Having enjoyed a superb tour with Distant Journeys last Autumn (Golden Triangle) we decided to book another tour (Egypt) for 2027. The booking process couldn't have been easier or better and we commend the member of staff who dealt with our booking. Excellent all round service from DJ.

Single tours great options available
I’ve yet to take my trips but so far have had great help and support through the selecting and confirming my trip options. They have a good range of trips with support throughout which for a single traveller inspires confidence and shows they think of all travelers. Looking forward to my 2 trips booked.

Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service from start to end on our Indian trip. Booking was easy even with our request to fly business class from Manchester. Our trip home was extended by 2 days due to the middle east problems but Distant Journeys took care of us, flying us from India to Sri Lanka, providing fully catered accommodation there, chartering an aircraft to fly us back to Stansted then providing coaches to take us back to our original airport. We could not have been more well looked after and communication was excellent throughout. Would not hesitate to travel with them again.

Magnificent New Zealand
We travelled for the first time with Distant Journeys to New Zealand and what a great choice for my 50th birthday! Booking was done at Olympia travel exhibition and ladies were so helpful and knowledgeable that we booked it immediately there. Customer service was amazing both in London and Auckland. They gave me the best memorable birthday I could wish for.
We did Magnificent New Zealand. I highly recommend this tour. It's perfect and enough in Itinerary for you to experience this magnificent country.
We were looked after by two amazing tour guides/ drivers Simon and Jerry who made the journey so fun and memorable for us.
The coach was very comfortable with AC. Hotels were fabulous, comfortable and near city centres.
The App was very useful throughout journey.

Distant Journeys… helpful and informative.
Distant Journeys provided a wonderful, well organised tour of New Zealand and Australia. The tour guides were friendly, caring and informative.
When the Iran war began and we were stranded with no way home DJ stepped up and provided accommodation and assistance with flights home five days later.
I would certainly recommend them and intend to use them again.

Wouldn’t use any other company
We first used Distant Journeys in 2025 for their Best of Japan tour. From the outset the staff could not have been more helpful, answering all my questions and ensuring that we were able to get everything we wanted included on our trip.
The tour itself was extremely well organised and we saw so much in the time we were there. Travelling with Distant Journeys gave us access to many experiences we would not have been able to organise if we had travelled independently. The most moving of these was listening to a survivor of Hiroshima.
Our tour guide was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable and definitely went above and beyond. On the first night in a new place he took us on an orientation tour so that we knew how to get around and where the best places to eat were. He had prepared a lot of information for us and shared this during coach journeys to the next stop.
I have recommended the company to many of our friends.
When it came to booking a tour of India I didn’t hesitate to contact Distant Journeys again. We have booked the Golden Triangle and Goa trip. Once again the staff were really helpful and we have personalised the trip to give us more time in Goa. We know we will be well looked after and are really looking forward to our next adventure

We had an amazing 31 day trip to New Zealand &…
We had a 31 day trip to New Zealand & Australia back in March and to say it was thoroughly enjoyable would be an understatement.
Everything worked like clockwork and the guides (and Vlad, our driver in NZ) were exceptional, especially Saul in NZ, he was just incredible.
Distant Journeys were as we had hoped, exceptional and will definitely be using them again for our next big adventure.

We had a fantastic time starting with Singapore then a tour of Australia finishing off in Sydney for NYE unbelievable experience. Then Hong Kong on the way home. Truly a memorable trip with brilliant tour guides thoroughly recommend this company. In fact it was so good we have booked the China and Japan tour next year

Booked a holiday to Australia in March…
Booked a holiday to Australia in March 2026 costing over £13k. Only two weeks ago did they contact me asking for details to complete my tourist visa application. On Tuesday 18th August they emailed me to say my tour had been cancelled due to insufficient numbers. I had bought currency, guide books etc and non refundable hotel for the night before my flight. I will get my money back for the holiday I won’t get back all the other things I paid for so am out of pocket with no holiday. A poor business if they can’t fulfil bookings. This is hugely disappointing as have now booked with “just you” who have a similar itinerary and have guaranteed the departure. I won’t be using distant journeys again

Misleading pricing system
We travelled to India with this company in 2023. We had an amazing experience.
From booking the holiday the staff were helpful and guided us through every stage. Vikram, the tour guide in India was the best.
Forward 3 years we were looking forward to booking a holiday to Uzbekistan. The price in the brochure for May was a total of £7390 for 2 people - £200 discount. We were told the tour was booked up but could go 2 weeks later. We got in touch with Distant Journeys and was quoted £8,780.
We looked on line for the same date and the holiday was £7,990.
We phoned Distant Journeys back and was told the £1,390 increase was down to flight increases and trouble in the Middle East.
The lady we spoke to was very dismissive and quite rude. A million miles away from the staff we had spoken to on our last booking. When I told her there was no transparency and the brochure was misleading she pointed out that possible fuel surcharges were mentioned in the brochure. However, we cannot believe that these surcharges could account for the £1,390 increase. We suspect that as their tours are selling out they are taking the opportunity to make more money.
Finally, if you’re booking with this company please check your paperwork. Our quote was made out to someone with a completely different name.

We appreciate your concerns regarding the cost of your Uzbekistan holiday. Our Price Promise ensures that all guests travelling on the same tour and departure date pay the same tour price. However, from time to time, airlines apply additional surcharges due to factors such as increased fuel and operating costs. Unfortunately, these charges are set by the airlines and are outside of our control. We completely understand that this can be frustrating, particularly when planning and budgeting for a holiday.
We are also sorry to hear that you felt the service you received did not reflect the high standard you experienced when booking your India tour. Providing helpful, friendly and professional support is extremely important to us and we regret that this was not your impression on this occasion.
In addition, we would like to apologise for the error on your quotation. Attention to detail is paramount and we have addressed this with the relevant team. We are sorry that this mistake occurred and that this was not the experience you should have received.

We had an excellent holiday with…
We had an excellent holiday with Distant Journeys in Japan. Everyday was different and we had many activities and experiences that we would have missed if we had not been on an organised trip. Our Japanese guides were amazing and extremely knowledgeable but the only fault was that our English guide was unable to join, us so we weren't given as much information as groups on the same trip ahead of us, eg printed itineraries for the day, departure time from hotels, train information etc. The Japanese guides weren't given information on individual passengers, such as birthdays or celebrations that were taking place and they apologised for not knowing, which was a fault of Distant Journeys, for which they haven't apologised or compensated anyone.
