Our recent private Golden Triangle Tour of India was exceptional. The itinerary was fascinating, varied, superbly organised and delivered over and above our expectations from start to finish. The booking process and follow up communications by Distant Journeys were all very good - and we highly recommend using their visa partners for the tourist e-visas, a seamless and speedy experience, well worth the service charge. Hotels and food were all of a very high standard, as was our vehicle and driver. A faultless service from Distant Journey but the greatest words of praise must go to our absolutely fantastic guide 'KV' - his knowledge, enthusiasm, sense of humour and superlative organisational skills were off the scale, and made our holiday better than we could have ever imagined. We have just got back from The Indian Wildlife holiday with the Amritsar extension. Everything was seamlessly organised. Our tour manager, Manu was excellent. He was very efficient, knowledgeable, supportive kind and funny! His wildlife knowledge was exceptional. Highlights were seeing lions, leopards and tigers of course. But we also enjoyed the Bollywood dance class, visiting Ghandi’s Ashram and spending time at The Golden Temple in Amritsar. All accommodation was good but our favourite was the Hyatt Regency in Amritsar. We will definitely travel with Distant Journeys again.

He had the task of dealing with very able to people who was often very needy.Bought mentally & physically.This could easily have destroyed the journey for the rest of us,but he took the challenge & did a remarkable job in keeping us all happy

I have been on 3 Distant Journey tours, got another booked for May and have just booked another adventure.
It is easy to view holiday choices on their website and I got through on the phone very quickly to ask for a quote and to confirm/ pay my deposit. Staff are very helpful and£ friendly.

Overall Experience
We recently returned from our tour and wanted to share some constructive feedback. While the itinerary has incredible potential—largely thanks to the spectacular game drives and our exceptional guide—there were several areas where the experience felt inconsistent with the "Spectacular" title of the trip.

Itinerary & Guiding
We want to highlight that our guide, Ella, was absolutely fantastic. She was faultless in her delivery, professional, and added immense value to our trip. The Botswana drivers were very interested in touting for tips.

Cape Town & Winelands: While we enjoyed Cape Town, the day trip to Stellenbosch felt like a missed opportunity. The tasting at Dieu Donné featured unfortunately low-end wines. We feel the itinerary would be significantly improved by removing one night in Cape Town and adding an overnight stay in Stellenbosch, allowing for a more premium, immersive vineyard experience.

Accommodation & Logistics
Botswana & Knysna: The accommodations in these locations were a significant letdown. In Botswana specifically, the property is in urgent need of maintenance.

Service Culture: At the Botswana property, the constant and "forward" nature of staff soliciting tips made us feel quite uncomfortable. This was exacerbated by the hotel's inability to provide change for larger notes, making it difficult to tip fairly.

Highlights: It is worth noting that the quality of the game drives in Chobe was the saving grace of this segment; without that high-quality wildlife experience, we would have considered checking out early.

Conclusion
We feel that with a few adjustments to the property selection and a more refined approach to the Winelands segment, this tour could better match the premium expectations set by your brand.

Well organised and planned trip to Costa Rica. Excellent tour guide and driver who ensured we saw the maximum possible. Amazing wildlife experience, well chosen hotels and lodges and itinerary. Our first time with Distant Journeys and would happily use them again, everyone else on trip had travelled multiple times with them before.

Just arrived home from a spectacular journey around Southern India. We visited so many wonderful places and the sights, sounds and vibrant colours were amazing. Excellent hotels, comfortable rooms, delicious food (the best we have had in India so far) with plenty of choice. Really knowledgeable guide who was clear in all his instructions and really good driver and coach boy....both of whom were helpful, friendly and had good sense of humours. Excellent company who were helpful from the very first phone call. One of our hotels had to be changed and this was notified before we left the UK through e mail. The DJ App is excellent - easy to use with plenty of information and notifications. Thank you DJ....we will be back.

From booking to travel all seamlessly organised. The app provided by DJ was amazing with all the trip info in one place! The tour was well organised and led by local guide, the itinerary was great and the accommodation lovely. My extension to Varanasi was brilliant and I was so well looked after as a solo traveller. I would love to travel with DJ again and would highly recommend!

Distant Journeys is a great company to deal with . Great app. that has all you need on throughout your trip. All the hotels were outstanding with great places to visit and wonderful guide ELLA. The group was 34 but we all bonded so quickly and will keep in contact for many years to come i am sure.It is a great vibrant Country and a must to visit, the safari at Bayala was to die for seeing all the BIG 5 animals. Felt completely safe at all times which had put us off in the past but our worries were unfounded. We will be back for sure..

Amazing trip to Costa Rica this January, excellent tour guide Leonardo Otoya with his specialist passion for birds, comfortable accommodation in all 7 locations, wonderful amount of wildlife seen. Would definitely recommend.

Simply the most amazing holiday I've ever had!
Every facet of the holiday was a fantastic experience.
Top class hotels. Superb guide Narendra who made our small group of 8 feel special every day by giving us an insight into every aspect of Indian history, culture and everyday life.
Value for money was exceptional.

2 week trip including 1 week on the Deccan Odyssey.
Excellent service, food and accommodation and looked after exceptionally well by the various DJ guides. The tour guides were generally excellent although some better than others.
The only minor criticism was on the first day of boarding the train when we were left at the station for a couple of hours before the train arrived and the razzmatazz commenced but in the meantime we were offered nothing and left on the platform by the DO ( not DJ) staff.

A real introduction to Japan with a fantastic mix of places to visit and experiences. The hotels were all very good, the transport excellent and the guides just great.

I, like several other passengers, expected a group size of around 25. We were 40. Had I known this I would not have travelled.
If you enjoy travelling in a group of 40, this company is for you, if not, look somewhere else.

We have just returned from a tour of Australia for Xmas and the New year which was fantastic from Booking through to the end in Bali. The tour guide Danielle was lovely, very friendly, but very efficient. Her knowledge in the different cities was amazing and she must have the patience of a saint dealing with some of the clients! All the hotels were well positioned with great facilities, and the organisation of the internal flights couldn’t have been better. Would definitely consider using Distant Journeys for any future trips.

It was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Raj Veer Singh, and driver Mr Suresh, were fantastic. They both did everything to ensure that we had the best time. We saw everything that was on the itinerary plus a lot more. Doing it as a private tour was undoubtedly the best decision as it was a completely personal experience and I would certainly recommend Distant Journeys private tours, incredible value for money.

We have just returned from another Distant Journeys holiday in India.
Everything went smoothly from bokong our trip to arriving back in UK. We had a fabulous time and couldn't fault Distant Journeys.
We would definitely recommend them for solo or couple travelling.

A wonderful experience and beautiful places visited made special by excellent guides. Mahendra, Shilpa and Sree were so knowledgeable and became great travel companions. Hotels were excellent and welcoming. I was very impressed by all the staff and organisation. Have already booked for 2026

Great well organised trip with a great guide. Flights were excellent both ways and despite it being 12 days of constant action the individual tours were always interesting and well planned. We even got to see up close a Tiger which was a bonus as so few trips even glimpse one. The Taj Mahal was also very impressive. Hotels were exceptional with large double rooms even though we were solos travellers.
