I.throught I was getting a return but a sum was taken from my bank account I feel.you ripped me off .

This was a terrible experience. Etax had to have a couple of goes to a fairly standard return correct.
During first attempt, they displayed an estimated return of about $2,100. Required payment before lodging - which I paid. As soon as I paid, the amount changed to a payable of $167 as they added my living away from home allowance to my taxable income.
When I questioned this, communication stopped for several days.
When re-worked they displayed and of about $5000 return. Now lodge, the estimate is $2700.
This whole process with Etax has seemed dishonest and not very transparent. I will be going else next year.

After initial review above, Etax did reach directly by phone an acknowledged an apologised for their shortcomings this time around. They offered to lodge an amendment for, an in the end achieved a much better result for.

A company that cares and goes out their way to put things right, is a good one in my opinion.

I was happy with the tax refund that etax had given me as an approximate amount, but after it was reviewed they've let me know that refund is going to be more than first calculated.
Definitely glad I used the program and would highly recommend.

My Initial tax return estimate for 2025-2026 financial year, less than $600AUD...., then they send me a polite email request to reply to 3 questions which is then followed by another recheck/review process....final estimate is now just short of $1800AUD. Time elapsed between email requests and reply,less than 30 minutes...on a Sunday no less. It took me longer to fill in my details, and they also have the previous years response to help you proceed without you having to second guess yourself at times. Honestly, I used to feel spoiled using ETax,but seriously it's the same amazing level of dedicated service I've received from them since 2015..ish. I may not be sure of some things(such as when I initially accepted their help tax return wise)but the low cost outlay combined with the carefully reviewed refunds that continually exceed my expectations, as has been the case for over a decade seems akin to a fairy tale,complete with standard background: fill in the details, don't get my hopes up, then receiveda response asking to reply to a question or two, maybe clarify a detail, then looking dumbfounded at a screen with a refund result that has increased by a more remarkable margin than I'd believe possible against original estimates. Their check and review process absolutely staggers me year after year but I will attest that the consistency, for me at least, is a testament to how well you can be looked after if you're willing to let them try to help you as they have done for me for over a decade.
I hope I'm not the exception, because the peace of mind I have during this period is something we all should want for everyone we know. It may come across to some as overly dramatic hyperbole, but they've never done me wrong, and in more than one scenario, the outlay was less than 5% of the final double checked and reviewed REVISED estimate, rather than the near 25% of the initial return I was expecting. As a single father of 5 I will just say it was the best ad I have ever answered, and I sincerely believe I'm not alone in this.
You don't have to take my word for it, you probably know someone whose carried on like this. Some things require a level of training and understanding that I lack, as well as the time to implement and utilise those skills, but in the tax return aspect, I'm glad to have ETax in my corner.
For me ETax is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quality Service, every time, year after year, that I hope others will try, or for those as lucky as me, continually return to for yet another undeniably consistent and fantastic outcome, that in some ways can still feel like a dream come true...Thank you ETax

My daughter-in-law suggested I try etax, as our family had previously been using another online tax agent. From start to finish, the process with etax was seamless. The program was easy to navigate, entering my deductions was straightforward, and the communication from the team was excellent throughout.

My initial tax return was estimated at $396, but the etax accountants carefully reviewed my return, asked the right questions, and identified additional deductions I was entitled to. As a result, my final refund increased to an impressive $1,452!

I was extremely impressed with the team's attention to detail and their genuine effort to ensure I received the best possible outcome. Their service was professional, efficient and thorough.

I did all the hard work providing organised figures, detailed notes, and manually entered USD dividend figures from my statements, yet the accountant never responded 1-to-1 to my comments. It clearly showed they ignored my queries when their first draft completely missed obvious property settlement adjustments for rent and deductible expenses. I can only hope they actually verified my foreign dividend calculations, as I have completely lost confidence in their attention to detail.

Our first tax return in Australia, I expected it to be a difficult process but these guys made it effortless, we also got more than what i had estimated. Would highly recommend.

I have found I am getting different responses from and different messages, you owe this or you will receive this or that debt is from last year...it's all a bloody mess.
Getting hit with a tax bill from the previous year, now twice...
Refund isn't the refund.
Ato debts that never get passed on, and or if they are even legitimate.
Last time.

Some answers were hard to do. ie bank details of last return. Especially if you haven't worked for 10 years or more, and your tax was done by an accountant. Also if required photo indentification. I am not computer savvy and this really done my head in.

OMG when I filled it out it came to $400 when the accountant had finished it was $900. Woohoo thank you so much ETax

I used this company for many years, but in the last few years, the service has gone downhill.

With no change in my circumstances (work, home, etc.), my estimated reimbursement started decreasing for no clear reason. When I asked why, I was told the figures were correct and that legislation had changed; with no further explanation offered.

Until this year... when they really touched rock bottom.
Their estimate came to around $200. As a check, I entered the exact same data into another provider's website and into myGov: both returned an estimate of over $5,800. When I queried the enormous gap, the company admitted they'd left out some data, then revised their figure to over $6,000.
Despite this error, they then pushed me to sign off on the tax return quickly so I could "get the money sooner", before the numbers had even been properly checked. Obviously I didn't sign and demanded my tax return to be cancelled.

At this point I have no confidence in the accuracy of any of my previous returns with this company and will be reviewing them independently. I won't be using this provider again, and I'd encourage anyone currently using them to double-check their figures against another source.

And please Etax, stop contacting me! (email, phone calls..)! As I said on the phone and via email: I don't trust Etax anymore, so I won't be doing any business with them.

I have used Etax for seven years but following my experience with my 2025-26 tax return I have decided to cease using their services.
My return was straightforward and included salary income, investment income and a First Home Super Saver Scheme (FHSS) withdrawal. After Etax processed the return, I was advised that my estimated outcome had changed from a $1400 refund to a tax liability of $12,839.75 due to the FHSS component.
This result caused considerable stress, particularly as the explanation provided was simply that the FHSS amounts had been added to the return and that I needed to pay Etax's fee before the return could be lodged.
Concerned that something was wrong, I reviewed my return directly through the ATO's myTax system. The ATO calculation recognised the FHSS income and automatically applied the First Home Super Saver Scheme tax offset, resulting in an estimated refund rather than a large tax debt. My refund estimate was approximately $1,334, representing a difference of more than $14,000 from the figure Etax had provided.
After I challenged the calculation, Etax subsequently acknowledged that a "special return" would need to be performed in order to include the FHSS offset correctly.
My concern is not that mistakes can occur. My concern is that the FHSS offset is a fundamental part of the FHSS tax treatment and the omission resulted in a dramatically incorrect estimate being presented to me. I also question the effectiveness of the review process, given I was told the return had been checked against ATO records before this occurred.
In addition, over the seven years I used Etax, I cannot recall a single occasion where any additional deductions, tax planning suggestions or opportunities were identified beyond what I had already provided myself. Looking back, I could have completed my own returns through myTax and achieved the same outcome while saving the annual fee.
As a result of this experience, I have terminated my engagement with Etax and will be lodging my own returns in future.
I cannot recommend the service based on my experience.
