Despite the low score.....Fowlers were brilliant!!!

I was a little weary of using a company with such a low score on trustpilot, so I decided to send a web note to check stock on a specific biker jacket, which was out of stock everywhere else I'd checked in the UK.
Fowlers replied quickly stating they had definite stock ready for despatch.
Ordered immediately and to my surprise, the item was picked and ready for shipment within the hour.
Package arrived early the next morning with DPD.
I have nothing but praise for the customer service I received from Fowlers, despite what other customers had suffered. You generally review on personal experience.

Viewing and purchases a bike from Fowlers

I went to the Bristol showroom recently, to view a second hand Kawasaki Vulcan s 650. I was greeted by Simon the Kawasaki manager, who I found to be very friendly, approachable, and very knowable. Being a woman I had had a bad experience in the past with a male in a bike shop, but Simon really put my mind at ease. The bike was in stunning condition and Simon made the process of buying the bike easy and explained everything. He couldn't have been more helpful. Afterwards I went to their shop to buy a new helmet etc and found the young lady that helped me to be very knowable and friendly. They delivered my bike and I noticed a scratch on the front mudguard that I hadn't noticed when viewing the bike in the showroom. The scratch was only noticeable in broad day light and not in the showroom, so this was no fault of Fowlers. However, Simon went above and beyond and managed to source a new mudguard and posted it out to me at no extra cost to me. I am very happy with the service I received and would most definitely recommend Fowlers to anyone, whether that be buying a bike, accessories or a bike service/maintenance. I will be taking my bike back to Fowlers once the mot is due. Fowlers are a professional, trustworthy company with friendly capable employees.

Servicing is a joke and half the sales team can't be bothered

I bought a bike from them new and had all the servicing carried out there to maintain the warranty. Unfortunately, the quality of the service was very hit and miss, depending on which mechanic carried out the work.

On one occasion, they carried out an annual service, which included an oil change. Six weeks later, the oil warning light came on. When I checked the oil, it appeared that it had not been changed, despite me having been charged for an oil change. This also meant that the filter had presumably not been changed either.

When I took the bike in for its final service before selling it, they had the bike for eight weeks. I was told they were waiting for a part. After a couple of weeks, I was told that the part had arrived and that they would work on the bike the following day. I was told this seven or eight times over the following weeks. Eventually, after I insisted on speaking to the manager, the work was finally completed.

At the end of each year after purchasing a bike, you receive an email from Fowlers asking whether you would like to discuss a part-exchange. After the final chaotic service experience, I replied to one of these emails. A couple of days later, one of their Yamaha salesmen called me, but I explained that I was actually interested in buying a Honda this time. He said he would ask one of the Honda salesmen to call me back.

A few days passed without a call, so I chased them and was again promised a callback. Of course, that never happened, so I took my business elsewhere.

A few weeks ago, I went back to Fowlers to look at another part-exchange. I probably should have learned my lesson by then, but they are the closest dealer to me and I was tempted by the convenience. I spoke to one of the Honda salesmen, Jesse Firth, who was very helpful. I booked a time for the following weekend to have my bike appraised for a part-exchange and had already decided which new bike I wanted to buy.

As luck would have it, my part-exchange bike broke down a couple of days later. I called Jesse, but he was with another customer, so I spoke to one of his colleagues instead. I explained what had happened and that I intended to book the bike into Fowlers to be repaired before bringing it in for its appraisal.

However, he either misunderstood me or simply wasn't listening, because he immediately replied: "I can tell you right now, we won't part-exchange a bike that isn't running."

I calmly repeated that I intended to get the bike repaired first, to which he replied: "Well, I can tell you now, servicing doesn't have any slots until November."

Wow. What a way to speak to a customer who was about to buy another new bike from them.

As a result, Fowlers have now lost not only the sale, but also all the future warranty servicing that would have come with it. I've since spoken to Branson's in Yeovil. It's a bit out of my way, but at least the sales team have been friendly and helpful. From what I can see from their customer feedback, their servicing department also appears to have a much better reputation.

There are some very good staff at Fowlers, and I don't want to suggest that everyone there provides poor service. The problem, in my experience, is the inconsistency. Some staff are excellent, while others appear to provide a level of customer service that simply wouldn't be acceptable at a business facing stronger local competition.

It's a shame. I bought my very first bike from Fowlers when I was a kid, back when it was a friendly family business. In my experience, those days are gone.

Ask for Luke..Fowlers Motorcycles clothing department.

I visited Fowlers Motorcycle clothing department today on somewhat of a fact finding mission regarding airbag vest /jacket.

This was purely to assess suitability, comfort, benefits and costs.

I was extremely lucky to be attended by a clothing department staff member named Luke.

What a pleasure it was listening to his encyclopaedic knowledge of the item, that he put over to me in a more user friendly manner.

Furthermore, he went over to the warehouse to get some differing sizes and models for me to try on for comfort and suitability. Nothing was too much trouble for Luke. Everything was done with a smile he then went further to have me try jackets similar to what I wear to check the required tolerances fitted the airbag manufactures guidelines.

Thanks to Luke my visit ended with me purchasing and Alpinestars Air 5 plasma unit. Luke then when thought the setup process needed for me to do when I got home. This included charging the unit, the App download, the removal of the transport mode and most importantly the fitting and wearing of the unit.

Luke must have eaten the user manual before work today as his instructions mirrored the user guide perfectly.

Sadly, the department manager was away this morning so I did not have an opportunity to leave this feedback, hence leaving this here.

On arriving home, I downloaded the Fowlers newsletter and found a discount code, immediately rang the clothing department and purchased a Rukka Jacket that Luke had allowed me to put on over the top of the airbag vest to check sizing.

I wish there was a Luke in every facility I go to shop. One of the best experiences I have had, at the age of 63 !

Fowlers service has been great.

Fowlers service has been great from purchase, servicing and after sale support. My 2025 Bonneville front mudguard cracked so I rang Fowlers, Mark popped round to assess the damage then after a couple of weeks the warranty claim was approved and a new mudguard fitted with no fuss or hassle.
All very professional and friendly, I would recommend them.

Total Shambles and NOT customer focused

My Wife was told to arrive at 0830 for a bike service and MOT. After many hours of waiting she was eventually told at 1500 that the bike was ready and the paperwork being completed; another 2 hours of waiting and a total of over 9 hours of waiting she was finally able to leave.
Why can’t this company operate using a specified appointment time? Is it really appropriate to expect customers to wait 9 hours for a simple and routine task?
There is no way we will ever use Fowlers again, they are completely unorganised and certainly not customer focused. Total shambles, and avoid at all costs
I lost count of how many other unsatisfied customer I witnessed with the same experience

Excellent Service

I recently completed a part-exchange deal on my old bike for an ex-demo Speed 400. The Triumph sales team were helpful and courteous throughout, especially Mike Tomlins who was my main contact and who gave me a very fair deal and plenty of useful guidance. The whole process went very smoothly and quickly, with excellent communication at all times.

Fowlers of Bristol

Fowlers of Bristol – Experience

I was warned by numerous fellow bikers “don't got to Fowlers, you'll regret it.”
'Don't be bloody daft, they can't be that bad can they. Can they ?

So I went, because I am interested in buying a Honda NC750XDCT. The sales guy was extremely helpful going through all I wanted to know, we even got to model, colour, extras and cost options. Full details.
I enquired about a test ride so full contact details were taken.
Score 5/5

I asked about service charges, but he was unable to provide any information and suggested that I enquire of Service Dept.
'Wait a minute, I thought you were trying to sell me a bike ? But ah well, I'll ring them later'
Score modified minus one 4/5

I subsequently rang said Service Dept. “What's your registration ?” Explanation offered but that was insufficient to get the price for an annual service. I reaffirmed that it was the Service Dept. I was talking to but to no avail. “Give me your email and I'll get it sent to you”
'Is this a joke ?'
Score modified minus one 3/5

Five days later and still no email.
Score modified minus one for each day -2/5

A phone call was received after having browsed Honda website reviewing options and requesting demonstration ride. Arrangements made for today at 11.00am

Attended Fowlers in plenty of time. Informed that due to the demise within family of staff member their demonstrators were unavailable (Yes plural two or more)
Score modified minus one for each bike (assume two) -4/5

“Fear not I'll get another for you to test ride”
A few minutes later.
“Sorry sir that bike is also unavailable”
Score modified minus one now at -5/5

“We can re-arrange for you to test it another day”
'You must be bloody joking !'

Failure of Fowlers to inform me of unavailability of demonstrator prior to my attendance by either mobile, landline, email or the power of prayer render further minus four now at -9/5

Further minus two for my wasted journey both ways -11/5

Grand total of MINUS 11 out of 5

Conclusion, if you want a fun day out at Fowlers of Bristol – be aware!

Ordered a part for my Triumph but it was not in stock and had to be ordered from the factory. It took the factory almost a year to supply it, but throughout that time Fowlers kept on at them to fulfill the order and kept me informed of all developments. Once they got the part it was sent out to me. I have nothing but praise for all their staff and would not hesitate buying from them again.

Annual service on 2025 Aprilia Tuono 1100…

Today I had my 2025 Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory serviced by Fowlers Service. Really pleased with the result; it feels like a new bike with smoother running and some niggles I had reported were efficiently dealt with. The people I dealt with were nice so well done Fowlers.

Poor customer service and practice

Sales persons all too busy to speak to customers. Eventually interrupted conversation between 2 about last nights tv to ask about arranging test ride on used bike. Told only possible after paying £100 NON REFUNDABLE deposit. I said I would never buy a bike without test riding first and they were effectively charging me £100 to check the bike was ok. Salesman said no, £100 was the cost of not buying the bike! Obviously I will not be buying a bike from Fowlers at this or any other time now.

Great costumer service

Great costumer service and I was made to feel very at ease. I wasn't sure what to expect as I was buying my first bike. Very helpful with test rides and informative staff that felt liked they cared and had time to discuss customer needs. In the end I went for a Yamaha and Josh was superb explaining everything I needed to know and making the process seamless. Really happy with the bike and wouldnt hesitate to go back. Many thanks all
