Awful experience

I was told my item would arrive before my holiday — I ordered four weeks in advance to be safe. Despite this, it didn’t arrive on time. I sent multiple emails chasing it up, all of which were ignored. They took my money immediately but didn’t send the item until a week later, when I was already away.

The parcel was then left outside my house and unsurprisingly, it was gone by the time I got back four days later. This whole situation could have been easily avoided if they had been transparent or responsive.

To make matters worse, they are now disputing the chargeback, even though the fault lies entirely with them. I’m now over £100 out of pocket with no item and no resolution. Absolutely shocking experience — would not recommend to anyone

Poor customer service and lack of…

Poor customer service and lack of communication. Ordered a baby carrier on 29th September (on a 2-3 week delivery). I was going on holiday at the 3 week point so contacted them by email on the 10th October to ask if there was a chance it would be there before I went on holiday (as if not I would need to hire a carrier to take with me). I got a very quick reply saying that the delivery to themselves had gone missing but they were expecting it early the next week and she was fairly confident she could get it to me in time and would keep me updated - I thought great, if I’m not going to get it they will keep me updated and I can make alternative arrangements as I understand that sometimes things go wrong. However, I’ve never heard anything from them since. I sent an email asking for an update twice, a message on Facebook as well as trying to contact them by phone 3 times with no answer, and have never got a reply to any of them. I then got an automatic email saying my order had been dispatched on 27th October - 4 weeks after ordering and after I’d returned from holiday, but still no communication from the company at all.

I understand that things go wrong but it’s the lack of communication after being told I’d be keep updated that is the issue. Had I been told they weren’t sure I’d receive it on time I would have been able to hire something in time for my holiday.

I have now received the item and I am happy with the product - just not the customer service from this company.

Excellent service

Excellent service! I wanted a pre order design but wasn't sure it would arrive in time before moving abroad, Paris assured me it would be fine and made sure I received it well in time. Thank you again!

Long term customer

I have been shopping at freedom to explore for quite a long time, over a year at least. I usually end up going back again and again because the prices are good and delivery is prompt. Their prices are usually significantly cheaper than other online shops. Also they have a great product range - not just bog standard toys like anyone else, but always constructive, useful open-ended toys that hold the children's attention for a long long time.
I get why they changed their name to "freedom to explore" because it describes their play experience better, but I personally find it a little hard to remember as a name of a shop, because it's a concept rather than a name. I much preferred their old name (little goat gruff) which was much more catchy and easy to remember. I also associated it with fairy tales and old fashioned charm, so I wouldn't have said it was worth changing to a new name. When I'm trying to remember their name to search in on Google, I can never remember "freedom to explore" but I always remembered little goat gruff!

Very good service

Very good service, parcel was badly damaged but the items inside are fine. Will use them again for sure.
(Would be good to see Raduga G is available as well )

Poor customer service

Paid for 1-2 day delivery but didn't receive the order for 9 days, not the sellers fault I understand, but they refused to refund the pricey £6.50 delivery cost.

Hi James,

As we explained we can’t refund delivery when the delivery fails because no one was at the address to receive the order. The delivery was attempted on time, no one was at the address to receive it so it was taken to a pick up point, I understand the inconvenience this caused and can only apologise. DPD text with an hour delivery slot on the delivery date to ensure someone is available to sign for the parcel. Once again we are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused you but we did get the item dispatched and out fir delivery within the time span.

I had to pay shipping costs when returning the backpack. Nowadays, it is very rare for a company not to cover the shipping costs for returns.

I'm really sorry that you are unhappy about paying return shipping costs for an unwanted item, it is very clear on our website we do not offer free returns and i am sorry that you did not read this before ordering. We are a micro independent business, it is not financially viable to offer free returns as much as we would love to offer this service to our customers. It is not rare for a company not to cover return costs, in fact barely any small independent companies offer this as they do not have the buying power that the huge conglomerates have. We would love for you to consider these points and think about revising your 1 star review, we did provide a great service other than not offering return postage and believe this is a little unfair, there are many great benefits in ordering from small independent companies.
