myself and my family have used Garratts several times for conveyancing and will writing etc. We have always been happy with the service we have recieved, but on this occassion it has been attrocious! 3 different solicitors dealt with our house sale. I repeatedly chased various issues going over the same issues on several occassions and covering the same ground with 3 different solicitors. I was told by one solicitor who had been dealing for weeks, not sure what will happen and not my problem because im moving next week???? after 3 weeks i was told by 2nd solicitor, im not sure either because im only baby sitting at this branch, Samina will be taking over next week????? terrible attitude for proffessional company. It was only when Samina took over that things started moving and she had finalised everything within a week. Thankyou samina, shame your colleagues are not so consciencious!!!!!!

Extremely thorough, efficient service with the ability to explain complex legal phrases in a simpler more meaningful way such that non-legal people can understand.

THIRD PARTY INVOLVEMENT THEREFORE NOT A DIRECT CLIENT, JUST HAVING A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE DUE TO THEIR INCOMPETENCE.
Please note, I am aware that garratts are removing all negative reviews. I please invite them to phone me for information and I will happily provide my details. I think blanketly removing all negative reviews, and being allowed to do so is a disgrace, and surely goes against transparency requirements.

The conveyancing department is an absolute disgrace, and I would seriously discourage anyone from using them. I am in the unfortunate position of being the third party, therefore unable to contact them to make a complaint myself as solicitors only accept complaints from their own clients despite having a negative impact on multiple people within the chain.

Enquires were requested in October from the purchasers solicitors, with completion due on November 27th. 5 minutes before closing on November 18th they phoned their client to say they haven't actually requested the documents they need for the enquires. They said they were told that the paperwork hadn't been requested as "they didn't know they had to" (seriously, isn't that a requirement of the job, to read the requests and actually know what they're doing??? I can't imagine not knowing how to do my job and keeping it!)
The people we are purchasing off have also told us that when asking how the sale is progressing they were told "well i have 13 other clients", and regarding answering the urgent queries (that they had had for weeks and completely ignored) "I might get chance to look at it tomorrow I don't know".

The paperwork was finally received on November 25th, so garratts were phoned by our solicitors asking to confirm a completion date of 14th December. Now they've decided they have enquires they need to ask on that purchase! Despite that purchase being ongoing since MARCH, and the couple we are buying off being told last week that everything was ready to go on their purchase.

Just an absolute waste of space and I would never recommend. If I was looking at buying a house in the future, I would honestly change my mind if garratts were the solicitors working for the seller

RESPONSE TO GARRATTS REPLY: please could you advise how proceeding in a purchase for the past 8 months and only now deciding to ask enquiries on this is in the best interests of your clients? Especially when considering the clients were told everything was complete and ready to proceed prior to this?

I have known Kristie for a while now and she has helped me with a few of my cases and can honestly say I wouldn't go elsewhere! She always kept me up to date at every stage of the process and has always been patient with me and very professional. Thanks Kristie

Tried to instruct Garretts but after a few days of my calls not being answered I gave up and went elsewhere!

Over 10 days to read every email, resulted in an absorb length of time to complete the sale of my house

My buyer has used these solicitors to deal with her side of buying my property, normally I wouldn't write a review regarding a company who i havent personally dealt with but because of the appalling service Garrett's have provided i am currently into the 36th week of waiting for all of the paperwork to be complete for the sale of my property. Purple bricks have been chasing Garrett's daily to try and get the sale complete by the 1st December. The lady buying my property is a single mother with a 1 year old baby and I get the feeling she has been completely mugged off by this company, I pray to god she is paying a set fee and not hourly but it would make complete sense why this sale has taken this length of time. Garrett's are requesting indemnity policies which the buyers lender has already made clear they do not need in order for them to release the mortgage funds. Trading standards have already been contacted to take this issue further, how they can expect my buyer to pay for their services after this outrageous fiasco is beyond belief. I just really hope something comes from this with trading standards they should not be allowed to get away with how they have conducted this sale****

In response to your response Garratts, you don't need 36 weeks to cross your I's and dot your T's. It's not acceptable and your apology is not accepted, I don't blame the whole of these delays on you guys but I do blame you for at least 80% just do your jobs and get the sale complete please.

Ellie Akhgar could not have done more for me over the past year! After receiving some news from the Police and realising that I needed to speak to a solicitor ASAP, Garratts were there for me from the off. Ellie was kind enough to take on my complex case, and saw it through right to the end. Thanks to all the staff with regards to the sale and purchase of my houses. Had to be passed to different offices initially because of the current situation with covid, but then when we did get sorted after a few weeks we were happy with the service received.

Garretts carried out the conveyancing for the sale of my house. I dealt directly with Lianne Hall, who was very helpful throughout and always available when I had a query. On the day of completion, we had a little hiccup and thought we would have to exchange and push completion from the Friday to Monday, but Lianne resolved the issue and we completed the same day, which was a huge relief.

Used this company for a house purchase in Manchester. Using Lisa Scott at the Newton Heath branch, even though I suffered delays due to covid and other agencies working from home we have just completed last week, after a bit of a struggle for searches being returned. I would highly recommend Garratts cant fault them .I have been well informed and kept up to date with the progress and Lisa was easy to contact if I had any concerns or questions .Thanks Lisa and your team you were great!!!!!
